Revelations

Already on edge from their last mission, the Vesta is now being sent back to Kepara on a treasure hunt for Tkon technology. (USS Vesta)

Turbulence

Devron Fleet Yards, Devron System
October 2399

After arriving back to Devron Fleet Yards a few days prior to begin resupply, she learned that Lieutenant Rar would be leaving. Which didn’t surprise her after the incident which landed her in the brig which would under normal circumstances been a court marshall but ended up being a slap on the wrist and a reprimand on her record.

Sitting in her ready room writing reports, signing supply deliveries, and other items that needed to be done. The door chime broke the silence as she looked up and raised an eyebrow “come in,” she replied as the doors opened to show Commander Kriia.

This was unusual for Kriia to visit her in her ready room, “what can I do for you, Commander?” Adams asked motioning for her to take a seat. “I’ll stand if you don’t mind, this will be quick.” She responded as the doors closed behind her, “I am leaving the Vesta effective immediately.” Kriia got straight to the point which took Adams by surprise.

“What do you mean you are leaving?” She said as she looked at Kriia who had been her friend and Assistant Chief Medical Officer before her promotion to Chief and assignment to the Vesta.

“I put in a transfer request, I can’t discuss why,” Kriia replied looking at the Captain.

“I expected Rar to leave, but not you too,” Adams replied looking at her with shock. “We have been through too much over the last few years.” Replied Adams as she let out a loud sigh.

“I know sir, and I am grateful to you and this crew,” she said shifting her weight.

Standing up and walking around her desk she came up close to Kriia, placing a hand on her shoulder. “Is there anything I can do for you to change your mind?” Adams asked as she didn’t want to lose a good doctor.

Kriia smiled at the gesture shaking her head, “no sir.” Kriia replied, sighing she nodded. “We will miss you, Commander, I wish you all the best,” Adams replied as she looked at her for a brief moment. “Thank you, Captain, I better go pack I am due on a transport within the next couple hours,” Kriia said as they said their goodbyes, and Kriia walked out of the office.

Walking to the window, looking out she let out a sigh. “What’s bothering you, Captain?” Tajir said as he entered just as Kriia exited so Adams didn’t see him enter. After almost jumping out of her skin she looked back at him.

“I am sorry I didn’t mean to startle you, sir,” Tajir replied as she waved a hand dismissively before replying. “Well you know we lost Lieutenant Rar, which wasn’t all that surprising but, Commander Kriia just informed me she is transferring to another assignment.” Adams replied as Tajir looked shocked, “I wasn’t expecting that.” He replied as Adams agreed.

“Now we need to find their replacements,” Makayla replied as she sat down on the couch. “Do you have any suggestions?” She asked Tajir who walked over to join her, “well Lieutenant Atur who has been working under Lieutenant Rar now for a while and has shown the skills needed.” Tajir began looking at her who sat there and pondered what was said.

“Alright, any idea about a doctor?” Adams asked as Tajir shook his head, “Lieutenant S’Ran has no interest in moving up, he is content to stay where he is at.” Tajir replied looking at her as she nodded, “he has said that numerous times in conversations.” Adams commented back, “well looks like I’ll be putting in a request for a new Chief then.” Adams said as she walked over to her desk and sat down.

She pulled up the file for Lieutenant Atur and began to glance it over before she spoke up, “have her report to my office.” She replied as Tajir nodded walking out onto the bridge.

Just as she was finishing reading Jeesa Atur’s service record the door chimed causing her to look up, “enter.” Adams replied as the doors opened to reveal the Lieutenant, “you requested to see me, sir?” She asked as the doors closed behind her as soon as she walked in.

“Ah yes, please take a seat” motioning for the open chair in front of her desk. “As you know Lieutenant Rar has decided to leave the Vesta, which means we need a chief,” Adams replied as Jeesa sat down in the chair but didn’t say anything but just nodded.

“After careful review, I am promoting you to take over as Chief Science Officer effective immediately.” Adams said looking up from the report to see the shocked look on Atur’s face, “uh thank you sir I wasn’t expecting that.” Jeesa replied still stunned, “you proven you have what it takes and your smart, and I need someone like you on the senior staff.” Adams said reassuringly as she stood up, “I would take this time to check in with your staff and settled. If you need anything my door is always open,” shaking her hand before dismissing the Lieutenant who walked out, trying to keep a cool face but one could see the smile on her face as she exited.

Sitting back down she sighed as she leaned back the chair, events replaying in her mind. “Captain you have a message coming in from Captain Dex,” Tajir replied over the comm channel which was unusual but Odan was off the bridge making sure things were in check with the intake of supplies.

“Patch it through to my office,” Adams replied as a moment later her computer changed from the Federation emblem to the face of Azras Dex. “Ah, Captain what can I do for you?” Adams asked as she looked at her, “good morning to you too Captain,” she chuckled for a brief moment but could tell something was bothering her.

“Could you come to my office, there are some matters I want to speak to you about in person rather than this.” Azras replied as Adams raised an eyebrow, “understood.” Adams responded as the communication ended as quickly as it started. Getting up from the desk she headed out of her ready room heading to the turbo lift.

“I’ll be in a meeting with Captain Dex on Devron,” Adams said as the turbo lift doors closed behind her leaving Tajir in charge making sure things continue to run smoothly. He wondered if they were getting new orders, what kind of situation would they face next.

Not Again!

Devron Fleet Yards, Devron System
October 2399

Just another day onboard the station as there was traffic going in and out of the system, officers running about doing their normal work, and civilians enjoying the promenade with the many shops that were available. Azras Dex was rarely seen walking the halls as her days were always busy with either meeting, daily paperwork, or contacting those within her task force. She barely had time to relax, though she did find time to see her family in the afternoons.

The last few weeks have been extremely busy, having to deal with the Omega even within the Devron system they had to deal with destroying them here in the system as well. So far they have not reappeared, though things are about to get more interesting as she has gotten word from Command about the Tkon. She had called up Lieutenant Commander Damir Jahraus an Archaeologist, he would be temporarily assigned to the USS Vesta for the upcoming mission that she was about to send them on.

They were talking when Commander Mirel piped in, “Captain Adams is here to see you, sir.” Sari replied as Azras nodded to have her sent in, few moments later Adams walked in not realizing she wasn’t alone. “Sir if this is a bad time I can come back,” Adams said as it looked as though she was disturbing their conversation.

“We were just finishing up,” Azras replied as Jahraus stood up and slightly nodded to Adams before he walked out of the office. Adams took a seat, “care for something to drink?” Azras asked as she made her way over to the replicator, “I am good thank you,” Adams replied as Dex got a cup of coffee and returned to her chair.

“Before we begin, is there something bothering you Captain?” Azras asked looking at her which threw Adams off at that question, Azras had a keen sense for when something is bothering another person.

“To be blunt, the whole situation has taken a toll on the crew. I understood that Lieutenant Rar would request reassignment, but now I have lost my Chief Medical Officer and I have no replacement.” Adams said in frustration looking at Azras who nodded as she brought up a file of a possible replacement that happened to come across her desk this morning.

After a few moments she looked up, “I just had a file sent to me this morning actually that I believe will be a good replacement for Commander Kriia.” Azras replied as she finished downloading the file on a padd and handing it to her.

“Commander Teila Zoran, she is a very good Doctor that I believe would work out great for the Vesta.” Azras added as Adams read over her file and was impressed, “indeed.” Adam said as she looked up, “I’ll have her assigned to your crew and have her report there immediately.” Azras said as Makayla nodded in agreement, after a few taps of her screen the assignment was sent to Commander Zoran.

“So with that taken care of we can move onto more pressing matters,” Azras said as she looking at her for a brief moment before turning on the screen on the wall so Adams could see the information.

“What do you think our next mission will be?” Dazra Loian spoke up breaking the silence of the bridge. After the last mission, she wondered what crazy mission would they go on next. Deza was walking around the bridge as she wasn’t needed at flight control since they were docked at the Starbase.

“I hope it’s not something more strange than the last,” Airje replied stopping at Dazra just as Tajir looked back from the chair he was sitting at.

“I am still wondering why all the secrecy? That was not like Makayla…er Adams to be so secretive.” Tajir replied the other two didn’t know the Captain all that well, not like Tajir but they could all agree that it was out of the norm for her.

“Your guess is as good as mine, though I doubt we will ever find out.” Airje replied with a sigh, “ya but makes one wonder, what’s next, and will it be even crazier than the last.” Loian said as she adjusted her stance looking at Airje who moved away from her station.

“Guess will find out when the Captain returns,” Tajir replied as he turned around just staring at a blank screen as the bridge went quiet again.

Looking around Dazra sighed at the silence which almost could have been heard if Airje didn’t speak up first. “Is it true that Commander Kriia is leaving too?” looking at Tajir who nodded, “it is,” Tajir said in a tone of disappointment.

The whole bridge looked at Tajir in shock, “I had expected Lieutenant Rar to leave after the incident but not Kriia to. Do you know why?” Loian asked as Tajir shook his head and shrugged, “she wouldn’t give a reason why.” Tajir replied looking back at her who was in utter shock. “Lieutenant Atur will be replacing Lieutenant Rar but not sure who is going to replace Kriia, though I am sure we will find out soon enough,” Tajir commented as Odan came over the comm channel.

“Bridge, the supplies have been delivered and accounted for.” Odan replied as Tajir tapped the commbadge, “understood Commander.” He replied before ending the comm channel. “Now we wait for new orders,” Tajir replied before turning back to his work which was really nothing much other than duty rosters, and crew rotations.

After Azras finished explaining their new mission, Adams was taken back by what was being asked or more so told. “So you’re saying that we are to go back to Kepara on a wild treasure hunt for Tkon technology and information that might not even be there?” Adams said almost in protest.

“From the scans from the USS Lune during the mission to destroy the Omega, we have reason to believe they are deep in the mountain cave over here,” Azras replied pointing at a spot on the map.

“What about the Prime Directive, we were very close last time but this time your asking us to beam down to the planet possibly getting seen? How can Starfleet justify that? How can I justify that to my crew?” Adams replied as she stood up beginning to pace trying to comprehend what was said.

“The Omega Directive still stands, do what must be done but retrieve anything you find on the Tkon.” Azras replied looking at Adams as she paced but all but stopped, “I know you will come up with something to minimize your interference.” Azras added as Makayla nodded in return “very well Captain.” She replied before she continued “I am assigning Lieutenant Commander Damir Jahraus who is an Archaeologist to the Vesta for this mission.”

“Understood, am I allowed to share this with my crew, or is this another secret?” Adams asked as Azras shook her head, “you may share with the crew but remember you can not share the reason why we are wanting Tkon technology or archives.” Azras warned as the Omega situation is still ongoing.

She nodded, “understood is there anything else I need to know about?” Adams asked as Azras handed her the padd with the needed briefing information on it. “Not at this time, you are free to go and prepare to depart for Kepara,” Azras replied, Adams, nodded and headed out of the Captain’s ready room heading back to the Vesta.

New Assignments

Devron Fleet Yards, Devron System
October 2399

Commander Teila Zoran was a red-headed woman that stood five foot six inches tall in her late thirties, sat aboard Devron Fleet Yards in her temporary quarters listening to classical music as she sat near the window peering out. After her reassignment falling through, she found herself waiting to see where she would go next. Sitting there watching ships outside come and go, she did notice a large Vesta-class Starship docked at the starbase.

She began to wonder what it would be like to serve on a ship that size, it’s not every day you see a ship like the Vesta, which is known to be a ship of long-range exploratory missions, rarely seen but here one was. “Maybe she’s on resupply,” she thought to herself as she just stared.

After sitting there contemplating for while, Teila got up from the couch heading towards the replicator. “Earl gray tea, hot,” she said as the replicator hummed, lights circling around what would become a cup until it appeared on the platform. Picking up the cup she smelled the sweet aroma, closing her eyes for a brief moment with a smile before taking a sip.

Just as she was about to head back over to where she was sitting when she heard the computer beep. Raising an eyebrow wondering what that could be, walking over setting the cup down on the desk. Sitting down, turning on the computer which first showed the Starfleet emblem pear across before a message from Captain Azras Dex came up on the screen in front of her.

She hoped it was her new assignment, she began to read what was sent and as soon as she finished Teila was in a state of shock. She had to reread what she just read, she couldn’t believe it, the very Vesta-class starship she seen docked at the starbase was the very ship she was being assigned to as Chief Medical Officer. Pinching herself to make sure this wasn’t a dream, she totally forgetting about her tea.

Feeling like this was just all a dream, the Vesta was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and she wasn’t going to pass this up. Making sure her belongings were packed, though she didn’t unpack very much just the items she used day-to-day. After making sure that her belongings were being sent to the Vesta taking a glance around the room to make sure nothing was missed, once satisfied she left making her way down the corridor towards where the Vesta was docked.

Walking faster than she normally would walk, she ran into a man who was dressed in a blue uniform as well. “I am sorry Commander,” she said looking at him with sincerity in her eyes. “Guess I was just in a hurry to get to my new assignment,” Teila replied as the man chuckled a bit before waving it off. “I know how that can go, I have done that a few times fresh out of the Academy.” James replied looking at the beautiful woman in front of him, “where are you going if you don’t mind me asking?”

“I just got assigned to the USS Vesta as Chief Medical Officer,” came her reply not realizing the noticeable grin on her face. James couldn’t help but chuckle, “guess we will be seeing more of each other as I just got assigned there as well.” James replied extending his hand, “Lieutenant Commander James Wright Chief Counselor.” Introducing himself as Teila accepted his hand in return, “Commander Teila Zoran pleasure to meet you, Commander.” She said as they stood there for a brief moment before they both began to walk towards the docking bay.

Walking in silence for a while as Teila decided to break that silence, “can you believe it the USS Vesta, one only hopes to get assigned to a ship like that, and here we are.” Telia couldn’t contain her excitement, causing James to chuckle again nodding in return. Before James could respond they arrived at the security checkpoint, showing the guards their assignments proving they were who they said they were.

“Welcome to the USS Vesta, you’re cleared for entry.” The Andorian security officer replied handing them their credentials back and letting them on their way. From there they went their separate ways, James decided to head to his office first before checking in with the Captain while Teila took the turbo lift up to the bridge.

After the lift came to a stop with the doors parting she stepped out looking around the bridge she was told where the Captain’s ready room was located, walking up she pressed the door chime and waited to be let in.

Adams looked up from her reports, wondering who this could be though after a brief moment she spoke up. “Enter,” came her reply as the doors swooshed open to reveal the bright red-headed Chief Medical Officer who walked in.

“You must be Commander Zoran,” Adams commented motioning for the empty chair in front of her desk. Nodding to the question that was asked, “yes ma’am” came the reply as she took the offered seat. “So Commander, I see you were going to be assigned to the USS Relentless after your recent assignment at Deep Space 12 where you served as Assistant Chief Medical Officer for three years?” Adams inquired looking up from her report to look at Teila.

“Yes Captain, I had received a promotion to Commander and was going to be assigned to the Relentless until that feel through where I been waiting aboard Devron for another assignment when this one came across my computer,” Teila replied shifting in her chair, though the chair wasn’t uncomfortable she had been sitting for too long.

“I am very impressed with your record and believe you would make a fine addition to our senior staff.” Adams said as she smiled, “I will not keep you long as I am sure you want to get down to the infirmary to check in with your staff.” Adams said before mentioning that there was a senior staff meeting within the hour.

“Thank you, Captain, I am pleased to be here,” Teila replied as she stood back up extending her hand as Adams took it in return. “I won’t be late,” she replied before they wrapped up the check-in.

She quickly made her way off the bridge, heading to where the infirmary was located not knowing it was rather large than she anticipated. After Teila left her office Adams went back to work preparing for the staff meeting. Things still running through her mind, taking a sip of her coffee she had gotten back to work. She had a feeling this mission was going to be as crazy as the last.

Revelations

USS Vesta, Devron Fleet Yards, Devron System
October 2399

The conference room was large and spacious with one large table in the middle of the room, a large screen on the wall nearest the head of the table where the Captain usually sat. There was a small kitchenette area where fresh pastries were laid out, as well as drinks ranging from coffee, water as well as teas for her senior staff. Chief Petty Officer Katie Niko had finished laying out the padds at each seat. Once finished she left the conference room.

Tajir Derohl was the first to enter, noticing that there were drinks and pastries he helped himself before he took his seat next to where the Captain would be sitting. Taking a sip, he sat there lost in thought before being brought back to reality when the doors opened to reveal Deza Airje. She nodded to him as she took a seat, she did notice that there were refreshments but just had her cup of tea for the morning already.

Chon’al and Odan were talking to each other as they entered the room, nodding to both Tajir and Airje they grabbed what they wanted and took their seats. “Any idea of what this meeting is about Commander?” Chon’al asked looking at Tajir who just shook his head as he had no clue, “the Captain has not shared any details so we will all be finding out together.” Tajir replied before taking a bite of his pastry before setting it back down on the napkin.

“That seems to be the theme lately,” Odan said as he took a drink.

Dazra quietly walked in followed shortly behind was Jheria who both took their seats after grabbing a drink. “I thought you got lost down there in engineering I haven’t seen you in a few days,” Odan replied with a chuckle as Jheria just rolled her eyes at the Bolian. “I could have stayed in there too if it wasn’t for this meeting,” Jheria replied in annoyance as she had work that needed to be done.

Dazra looked at the Andorian, “I am sure you will get back there soon enough.” She had served with Jheria onboard Guardian Station though they really never spoke with one another she remembered her from their time on the station. Jheria just rolled her eyes and sat there quietly as the doors parted again revealing both Jeesa Atur and Teila Zoran.

They both looked at where the food and drinks were, grabbing what they wanted they grabbed their seats. Tajir nodded at the new arrival, “welcome aboard Commander.” Tajir replied with a smile as Teila nodded a thank you before they started talking again while waiting for the briefing to start.

Other than the Captain, James was the last one to arrive as he just finished talking with Adams before coming here. Nodding to the rest of the senior staff he just quietly took his seat and waited for the Captain to arrive. James didn’t really see the need for him to be at the briefing as it really didn’t have much to do with him, or at least it usually never involves a counselor just that he was on the senior staff.

While they were waiting they sat amongst each other and chit-chatted, Tajir was the quieter of the bunch looking at the time. Wondering where the Captain was as it was unusual for her to be late to a briefing. Deza noticed that Tajir had a concerned look on his face and decided to speak up.

“What is bothering you Tajir?” She asked as she shifted in her seat to face him which caused him to come back to reality and look back at the Bajoran woman. “Just thinking, and wondering why the Captain is late,” Tajir replied back before looking down at his coffee for a moment before picking it up and taking a drink.

James overheard and decided to speak up, “she was about to come when she was stopped by another officer in blue though I am not sure who it was it seems she knew who he was.” James shrugged causing Tajir to raise an eyebrow, “it seems like the Captain is popular today” came the response from Teila with a bright smile.

“So it would seem,” he replied back before going quiet again.

After a short time, the doors opened up to reveal Adams and another newcomer Lieutenant Commander Damir Jahraus walk in. He quickly took a seat at the empty chair while Adams took her seat at the head.

After a brief moment of silence, she spoke up, “as you are all aware we did lose two crewmembers both Lieutenant Rar and Commander Kriia.” She said as she looked at the new arrivals as well as the one she promoted. “Lieutenant Jeesa Atur has stepped up to be our Chief Science Officer.” She said as Atur smiled and nodded to everyone, “Commander Teila Zoran has been assigned as our Chief Medical Officer and Lieutenant Commander James Wright has been assigned as our Chief Counselor.” She introduced the two new people aboard the Vesta as everyone nodded to them as a welcome.

Adams didn’t introduce Jahraus yet but would in a few minutes after she briefed them on their new mission. “Who here has ever heard about the Tkon Empire?” She asked which caused some glances. “Weren’t they a race that went extinct some thousands of years ago?” Dazra spoke up trying to remember what she read during her academy years.

Adams nodded as she went on to explain about the Tkon, what information they did know which was very little. “There is something going on within a system that is beyond the Galactic Barrier though I can not explain those details with you as that is classified,” Adams added looking at them as they seemed to be following the best they could.

“What does that have to do with us?” Jeesa spoke up more out of curiosity as to where this was going.

“Command wants us to hunt down Tkon technology, archives, anything that we find that would give us more clues as to who they were.” Adams began as she paused for a brief moment looking at everyone. Now was a good of a time to introduce their guest that has all but sat there quietly. “This is Lieutenant Commander Damir Jahraus who is an Archaeologist who will be joining us for this mission,” Adams said as Damir stood up to take over part of the briefing.

Walking up to the screen he tapped a few buttons to show the scans from Kepara, “while the USS Lune was in orbit of Kepara he uncovered something of interest within what seems to be a giant cave within the mountain found here.” Pointing to the spot on the screen. “It is reasonable to believe that there is technology down there that are from the Tkon who once inhabited the planet, or believed to have inhabited,” Damir said looking at everyone.

“What does that have to do with us?” Tajir asked as Damir looked at him but before he could speak up Adams chimed in. “We will be heading back to Kepara to find this technology and bring it onboard the Vesta,” Adams replied as everyone shot a look at the Captain.

“You got to be joking,” Tajir replied looking in shock at what was just said.

“We will be breaking the Prime Directive,” Airje paused before continuing on with the last part of the sentence “again.”

“All known directives have been rescinded due to the nature of the mission that part of it is still classified.” Adams instructed her crew yet again about the need to trust her, “We got lucky the last time Captain, but do you really think we can come unscathed this time especially by going down to the planet? Do you realize what we would be risking?” Tajir added to the conversation.

“Commander Kriia and her medical team were able to get a full medical workup while they were asleep.” Adams said as she pulled up another screen, “They look exactly like humans, and only myself, Damir and Jeesa will be going down to the planet dressed to blend in with the populace.” Adams said as she could tell Tajir and the others were apprehensive.

“Do you really think it is wise for you to go down Captain?” Tajir questioned, though she was expecting it. “Yes, and I am not debating this” Adams replied as Tajir was going to speak but she held up her hand. “I need you here on the Vesta, to keep an eye on things above the planet.” Adams said looking at him as he sighed in frustration, “fine” he replied before Damir spoke up again.

“We will beam down here just behind this mountain where it will be less likely to be seen, we will hike to the entrance of the cave which is about a good two hours,” Damir replied looking at everyone.

“Couldn’t you get them closer?” Jheria spoke up after being quiet.

Damir shook his head, “there seems to be a scattering field in place that is going to cause issues beaming directly down close to the entrance.” Damir replied, “Then how will we beam anything up if you find what you’re looking for?” Jheria asked though she just asked a dumb question but just asked it anyway.

“We will bring pattern enhancers down with us where we can set up to beam anything we find including ourselves out.” Damir replied as Dazra spoke up, “shouldn’t you bring a security detail with as lookout in case you get seen and are followed?” She asked as Adams pondered that, “very well pick out two from your team to go with, Commander Teila will do any coverups if needed.” Adams replied looking at the Doctor who just nodded in return.

“Once we are inside we will search for anything Tkon, set up the enhancers, and tag the equipment to be brought back on board in cargo bay one.” Adams replied looking around, “Commander Jahraus, myself, and Lieutenant Atur will be the only ones to have access to this technology once onboard.” Adams replied, “we are hoping this will be an in and out operation where the inhabitance is none the wiser.” Adams looking at her senior staff who were still in disbelief as to what they were going to be doing.

“I don’t like this at all Captain, but will follow if it’s that important.” Tajir sighed looking at her, she really didn’t like it as much as Tajir but, she had been given orders she was going to follow.

“Any questions?” She asked looking at them as they shook their head.

“Very well, Airje set a course back to Kepara at maximum warp.” Adams ordered as Airje nodded, “aye sir.”

“Dismissed,” she said as everyone stood up and headed out of the conference room as Adams stayed behind looking at the screen behind her lost in thought. She could tell that no one was happy about this mission and how unordinary it was. She couldn’t get past the ethical part of all this, but what she knew and her crew didn’t she knew what they had to do.

After a few moments, Katie came back in to clean up noticing that the Captain was still in there. “Sorry, I can come back” Katie replied as Adams looked at her and shook her head. “No, no I am just leaving,” Adams replied as she got up and headed out herself and headed out onto the bridge and took her seat in her chair as they departed Devron Fleet Yards and headed back to the Kepara System.

Underway

USS Vesta
October 2399

Telia had all but gotten settled in, very quickly one might add as they were now underway towards their next assignment, which made her wonder what had happened in their last mission that caused such an uproar during their briefing. The infirmary was fairly quiet other than a few minor injuries coming in, mostly from engineering.

“Coffee, black,” she said walking into her office making a beeline for the replicator which sprung to life. The hums of the replicator and the lights swirling around the cup appeared, the sweet smell of the caffeinated beverage sprung up to her nostrils. After picking it up she walked over to her desk which was directly in the center of her office.

On the wall across from her desk were many screens with monitors to each of the biobeds, which was used to keep track of the vitals of a patient that might be occupying any one of the many beds both in the infirmary, and recovery unit. She was also equipped with a surgical unit for any major surgery that couldn’t be taken care of in the Infirmary.

Pulling up the file that Commander Kriia had put together on the people of Kepara. She began to read the report, they were almost identical to humans in most regard with some slight differences though internally, externally they looked just like humans. Going over every detail of the report that she didn’t hear the doors open.

“Anything interesting?” Jeesa said as she walked in which startled Teila.

“Just reading over the report from Commander Kriia about the people from Kepara,” she said as she showed her the report. “They seem to be almost identical to humans with some slight differences internally,” she said as Jeesa glanced at the report.

“That is interesting, so it wouldn’t be too hard to blend in,” Jeesa commented as she nodded in response.

“So what are you working on?” Teila asked looking at her.

“Was on my way down to Astrometrics Lab to do some digging on what we already have on the Tkon, thought I stop in to see what you were doing,” Jeesa said looking at her as Teila light up like a Christmas tree. “Do you mind if I tag along?” Teila asked with a bit of excitement in her voice which caused Jeesa to chuckle before nodding her head. “Sure why not, wouldn’t mind the company and you might see something I miss.” She replied as Teila got up from her desk and the two women walked out of the infirmary towards the Astrometrics Lab.

Damir Jahraus was working at one of the many consoles that were in the lab, he was going over the many scans from the USS Lune as well as what the Vesta and taken while in orbit during their last mission. The doors opened, both women walked in chatting not realizing that Jahraus was in there, he looked over at the pair but went back to work.

“Hello Commander,” Teila said with a bright smile, Damir just nodded as he was working. He was reserved and didn’t like small talk and normally he preferred to work alone but he knew this mission would be out of the question.

Teila thought it was strange as she looked at Jeesa who just shrugged as they walked over to another console to access information about what they already knew about the Tkon Empire which wasn’t very much. ‘Wonder if he is always like that?’ Teila said telepathically to Jeesa so he wouldn’t hear them chat.

‘He could just be that quiet, wants to work instead of meaningless chit-chat,’ Jeesa replied as they both chuckled which caused Damir to look up as they realized they chuckled out loud and not in their heads. “Just thought of something funny, sorry.” Teila covered which caused Damir to just roll his eyes, shutting down the console he walked out of the lab.

“That was stupid Teila,” Zoran said to herself as she shook her head. “Don’t worry about it,” Jeesa reassured her as they began to work on finding anything of use.

****

“What is with all this secrecy?” Tajir asked looking at the Captain in the privacy of her ready room. Adams looked at him, she knew it would have been a matter of time before he questioned her. “Tajir, I know things have been strange as of late. We have known each other for a long time. There are just things that I can’t discuss, things that maybe once you become a Captain you will understand.” Adams said in a calm voice compared to his.

“I just need you to continue to trust me, the crew needs that right now,” Adams said looking at him as he sighed in frustration. “I just don’t like this Makayla, what if we are seen?” He asked looking at her, “I just don’t understand why Command needs anything they can find on the Tkon, why now.” He inquired as he walked over to the window looking out seeing the stars fly by as they were at warp.

Getting up from her desk and joining him at the window, placing a hand on his shoulder. “I know, there are just things that are classified just that they are wanting to know everything we can find about them and what it has to do with the Horizon system.” Adams replied before continuing on, “I will take all the precautions not to be seen by the locals I promise Tajir.” She replied squeezing his shoulder just enough to set him at ease.

Looking at her for a moment, letting out a sigh “alright, but we will keep active transport signal on the away team in case there is any inclination of trouble.” Tajir replied causing Adams to smile, “I don’t expect anything different.” Adams replied as they both stood there for a few moments staring out into space.

“It will be a few hours before we reach the Kepara system, why don’t we go get some lunch?” Tajir asked as there was really no need to sit here and sulk over things that can’t be changed.

“That would be good,” Adams said with a smile as they both headed out of the ready room and towards the turbo lift to take them to the officer’s mess hall. Once they arrived they both ordered what they wanted and took a seat at a table away from the majority of the people that were in there so they could talk quietly.

“So, when are you and Sari getting married as you have yet to set a date and it’s been what over two years since you two got engaged?” Adams asked wondering, “we have both been busy so we haven’t really had the time to set a date.” Tajir said as he looked at her taking a bite of his food.

“You don’t have to plan anything extravagant, If you want I can even perform the ceremony right here on the Vesta after this is all over,” Adams replied though not trying to force him to do something he isn’t ready for but just giving ideas.

He sat there quietly for a moment thinking about what the Captain had said, it would be an honor for her to marry them since they had been so close of friends and colleagues for so many years. “I’ll talk it over with Sari when I contact her tonight see what she thinks.” Tajir finally spoke up looking up at her, she smiled and nodded.

“When are you going to settle down?” Tajir looked at her, he knew she hadn’t been with anyone in a long time since her breakup with her long-time boyfriend Kovan a Klingon Chief Operations Officer aboard the Relentless. They were together for five years before he broke it off, resigned from Starfleet, and went back to Qonos’. She looked at him and just shrugged, “I don’t know.” She simply said before taking a bite of food trying to think of something else to talk about.

He could tell she was uncomfortable and didn’t say much more, it had been a long time since the last time they just spent time as friends talking. She couldn’t imagine him not being her first officer, they just had that connection and worked well together. They would spend the next hour talking as they ate before they went back to the bridge as they would be arriving at Kepara within a few hours.

Research

USS Vesta
October 2399

Jeesa was still in the Astrometrics lab searching through the files they had on the Tkon, as well as the many scans from the planet, as well as the system. Teila had already left as she had work that needed to be done in the infirmary. Rubbing her temples as she looked away for a moment as she was looking at the information for far too long.

Walking over to the replicator, “Raktajino, extra-strong” she ordered as the hot Klingon coffee appeared, picking it up she took a drink as Jeesa walked back over to her station to review the information again.

“This is just not making sense,” Jeesa said out loud but no one in particular. Last she knew she was alone, not realizing that Dimar had come back in the room when she was so engrossed in the information.

Looking up from what he was doing raising an eyebrow, “what is not making sense Lieutenant?” Jahraus asked which caused her to jump at his question, looking over at him almost red in the face. “I didn’t realize you had come in Commander,” Atur replied before she pointed to what she was looking at.

I have been looking at the star charts of this area both from Tkon archives as well as what we have now.” She responded as Jahraus walked over to her to look, “according to the Tkon archives this planet hasn’t always been here.” She said which caused him to start looking at what she was looking at.

“It was here,” he pointed at the Tkon map of where the planet used to be, which was thousands of light-years away.

She nodded, “It seemed to have been moved right before the Tkon went extinct from what my calculations are showing, though I can probably get a more definitive answer once we arrive back at Kepara to get more in-depth scans than what was already taken.” Jeesa said as she looked back at Damir as he tapped a few buttons bringing up the scans of the planet as well as the inhabitance.

There were a few moments of silence as he began to look at everything together, “it would also seem that the planet wasn’t always inhabited, the people from what my scans suggest have only been around for twenty thousand years, whereas the Tkon has been gone for six hundred thousand years.” He said as he looked at her for a moment before looking back at the screen.

“Though this is purely speculation of what information we do have, we just need to find that technology in hopes to put any missing pieces into place.” He added looking at her as she nodded in agreement.

The room went quiet for a moment as Jahraus went back to his own console, “when I was in the Academy and learning of the Tkon, they had always been a fascination to me.” Jeesa said facing him with the cup in her hand, “them being able to move whole systems, planets.” Jeesa added before taking a sip of her coffee, “who would have thought years later that we would be hutting down Tkon technology, finding out more about them.” Jeesa finished as Damir looked up and just nodded in reply.

“This is only an Archeologist’s dream to be on a treasure hunt like this,” Damir commented back as Jeesa nodded as she could only imagine. She was no Archeologist but she was still a science officer nonetheless, she got excited about things like this.

She turned back around and started her work again, making notes for the Captain to see. “So what made you become an Archeologist?” Jeesa asked Damir though she didn’t look back.

“My parents were in the field when I was growing up and most of my childhood lessons were on finding artifacts of different cultures and learning more about them. Since then I found a love for it as well so decided to follow in their footsteps.” Damir replied back as he looked at her from his console for a moment before he went back to work.

“I bet that would be exciting to be able to learn firsthand like that,” Jeesa replied as she continued to work. Things began to get quiet again as she transferred all the data onto a padd. “Thanks for your assistance, I am going to go meet with the Captain and share what we found,” Jeesa said as she shut down her console as Damir nodded, headed out of the Astrometrics lab she made her way towards the bridge to talk with the Captain.

A Second Go

USS Vesta, Kepara Colony
October 2399

“Wonder what Lieutenant Atur found that was so important to rush into the Captain’s office so quickly?” Odan asked looking at Chon’al who just shrugged while opening his mouth to speak before being cut off, “maybe it has to do with our mission?” Deza spoke up from flight control as she heard them talk, Odan glanced at the Bajoran women with annoyance as she had a habit of speaking when she wasn’t spoken to.

“Possibly,” came the annoyed reply as Deza Airje just rolled her eyes sensing the annoyance in his voice but decide not to respond further to that. “It must be something good as I have never seen her move that quickly before.” Chon’al finally spoke up after being cut off with a slight chuckle.

Dazra was working at her console only barely listening to the chatter, “I don’t get why we are even going on this treasure hunt anyways, what does Starfleet want with the ancient technology of the Tkon Empire anyways.” Dazra finally spoke up in an almost annoyed tone but lingered on the lines of confusion unable to know the real reason, she thought Starfleet Command was sending them on a wild goose chase in her eyes.

Tajir looked back from the Command chair almost surprised at her statement, though he couldn’t blame her as he had those same thoughts before. “We might not understand why, but that is our current mission and we will complete it as ordered.” He responded back to the Lieutenant in a stern voice, though he still had apprehension himself but had to put all that aside to keep this crew working together.

“We shouldn’t even be going back to that planet, there are so many rules that we are breaking, and how is that not even being noticed?” Dazra said in frustration as the others on the bridge just looked at her in a state of shock. They realized she had a past record of insubordination but didn’t think she would be so bold to try that again after being demoted back on her last assignment.

Tajir looked at her for a moment taking a deep breath, thinking about what he was going to say before he responded to the women. “Lieutenant, I know that things have been,” searching for the right word. “Different than anything we have dealt with before, but the Captain had said that all standing orders have been temporarily lifted,” Tajir said as he stood up from the chair to face her.

“How can we be sure that is even true and the Captain is just making things up to fit her needs,” Dazra said with a raised voice causing Airje to turn around to face her, he waved a hand as he knew she was going to step in.

“I don’t Lieutenant, but I have trust in our Captain, I have worked with her for a long time,” Tajir replied before continuing. “Adams won’t take a mission lightly and is doing the best she can in a tough situation. We need to have her back and stop questioning things that are beyond our control.” He finished while looking at her in a calm but stern manner causing her to throw her hands in the air.

“Taking things at face value can get you into more trouble than what it’s worth, this is going to come back to bite us in the ass if we don’t stop this! I can’t believe that Starfleet is allowing this to take place over what,” she began before she paused for a moment. “Some technology on a species that doesn’t exist anymore!” Dazra replied frustration filling her voice.

“Lieutenant, you will continue to do your job or you could end up in the brig just like Lieutenant Rar did for disobeying orders, and I don’t think Starfleet will be so kind for another infraction on your ever-growing record,” Tajir said which caused her to stop and look at him for a brief moment, before seeing all eyes on her from the bridge crew.

“Against my protest, the Captain saw something in you that she thought she could harness and change. Feeling you were a better person under your record and decided against my disapproval to give you the spot of Chief after being dismissed from your last post,” Tajir said with truth in his voice looking at her.

“I thought I was proven wrong, that Adams saw something in you that I didn’t,” he trailed on as she looked at him almost dumbfounded by his words. Tajir let that lingerie for a moment before he continued being sincere and honest. “Lieutenant, you can still change my mind, by trusting Makayla she needs that more than ever in a situation that none of us can control.” He said with sincerity and yet gave her this next warning if she kept things up.

“I will give you a bit of advice that I suggest you listen to, if you want to continue down this rabbit hole then you will seal your fate,” Tajir replied as everyone on the bridge was shocked at what the Commander had said not knowing that the Captain had been on the bridge the whole time off in the corner near her ready room door.

Dazra was going to respond but noticed that the Captain was standing near the door to her ready room, gulping realizing she was in the wrong. “Aye sir,” is all she could muster out as Tajir went to turn back around and noticed the Captain standing there with Jeesa next to her with her arms crossed across her chest.

Everyone on the bridge got back to work not saying anything else, Jeesa walked to her station as Adams joined Tajir and gave him a nod. Airje turned around for a brief moment before the Vesta came out of warp, “we have arrived back at Kepara sir.” She said as the ship stopped within in orbit of the planet but not where it would be notable from the planet’s surface.

Adams looked at the planet below and began to wonder what treasures does the planet hold, after a moment she shook her head to bring her back to reality. She looked at where Commander Jheria was at her station on the bridge. “Jheria can you work with Jeesa in Astrometrics to increase sensor range and depth?” Adams asked as Jheria looked at her almost confused.

“That would need a lot of resources Captain, I don’t think that is a good idea.” Jheria protested. “I understand, it would only be for a short period of time we need to get more sensor data on the planet as well as the system,” Jeesa spoke up before the Captain could. “I found some data while researching and need more scans to see if my hypothesis is correct.”

Jheria looked at the woman for a moment, “how long are we talking?”

“An hour to an hour and a half at the max, I would do most of my work down in Astrometrics,” Jeesa replied looking at the Commander who thought and against her better judgment agreed. “Anything more than that could cause problems with other systems that I just can’t afford to lose,” Jheria replied as the science officer nodded in reply as they both walked off the bridge.

As the two left Adams looked at Dazra, Odan, and Chon’al, “I need you three to go down to cargo bay one and get that emptied out again, we will be beaming anything we find in there.” Adams replied as they all looked at each other for a brief moment and nodded, “Understood,” Odan replied as the three left their stations and the bridge.

“We have a couple of hours before we are ready to beam down to the planet,” Adams replied before turning to Tajir, “care to join me for a cup of coffee and chat?” She asked as he nodded and they both headed into her office to go over things before they would be planet-bound.

Hidden Truths

USS Vesta, Kepara Colony
October 2399

Shortly after arriving in the Astrometrics Lab, Jheria opened the panel below the main console that Jeesa would be using. After accessing the main power relay to the main sensors and the deflector dish she started to make the adjustments needed to boost the sensor rage for both the planet as well as the system.

While Jeesa couldn’t do much until she was done she decided to make some small talk, “so how long have you been on board Commander?” She asked while leaning against the back of another console.

Jheria looked at the woman briefly before replying, “we were all assigned to the Vesta at the same time Lieutenant, though most of you came from the Relentless I was transferred from Guardian Station.” Jheria replied though not realizing that Jeesa came on board a few months later.

“Oh, I didn’t come from the Relentless I was transferred from the Starbase 611 a few months after,” Jeesa replied as Jheria felt stupid to just assumed that most everyone came from the Relentless. “I am sorry I didn’t mean to assume,” she apologized before getting back to work on making the needed adjustments.

“It’s alright, with so many officers it can be hard to keep track of who came from where.” Jeesa replied with a smile, “though I never thought I become Chief so quickly.” Jeesa admitted as she knew that feeling all too well when she went from Assistant Chief to Chief on Guardian Station.

“I know that feeling,” Jheria replied to her last statement.

Nodding, Jeesa just looked around the lab before Jheria decided to be the one to ask the next question. “So, with being a Betazoid is it not tempting to read other people’s thoughts?” She asked merely out of curiosity than anything, which caused a small chuckle out of her.

“For most, it would be, especially those who are not in Starfleet as it’s something they don’t really think about and forget that most people don’t like their thoughts being read like an open book.” She began as she looked back at the Commander, “for me, I have trained myself to not pry in other people’s private lives unless absolutely necessary but, usually with their permission or if it is a life or death situation.” She finished looking at her, “though I still can sense people’s emotions or can sense danger.” Jeesa said looking at her.

Jheria “that’s fair,” she replied before she finished what she was doing and closing the panel behind her. “Well, you should have the needed sensor range. I’ll stay here to monitor it while you work.” Jheria said as she walked off to another console towards the other side of the lab. “You only have a max time of an hour and a half,” Jheria reminded the Lieutenant who nodded.

Jeesa got to work immediately as she began her scans of both the planet and the system. “Computer run an in-depth scan of Kepara Colony.” She said after she punched in the parameters of the type of scan she was looking for as the computer beeped in response. This scan would take a good forty-five minutes to complete before she could move onto the second scan which would take thirty minutes to complete.

She watched the data as it came in, studying every aspect of it and comparing it with the information she already found. The doors to the lab opened with Damir walking in noticing the Chief Engineer and Jeesa, “Find anything yet?” Damir asked as he walked up to her as the scans were coming in. “So far it’s proving my hypothesis was correct but won’t know for sure until it’s complete.” Jeesa said as she looked at him as he looking at the data as well.

“Very interesting,” he commented, “indeed it is,” Jeesa replied back as they waited.

“Scan is complete,” came the sound of the reply from the computer. “Computer run in-depth scans of the system around us.” She ordered as the computer beeped in response after she yet again put in the parameters that she wanted.

While that scan was taking place she turned back to the scans of the planet, going through every inch of the scans as she waited for the other scan to finish. Referencing them with the information they already had. “Scan complete,” came the voice of the computer which she nodded to Jheria that she had finished. Jheria got to work bringing sensors back to normal before she left the lab.

After going through all the scans she started to put things together, “umm” came her reply as she looked at everything which caused Damir to look at her, “what did you find?” He asked now curious, “Well it looks like the planet was the only thing that had been moved in this system.” She started pointing to her scans and comparing them to the star charts of what they had of the Tkon. “The other planets in this system have always been here.” She added showing the scans of the system as well.

“That is interesting,” Damir responded looking at all the information.

“In the scan, I included where the Tkon technology was said to be, and it really does look like there is something deep within the cave. Though I can’t really tell if it truly is Tkon in origin but with all that we do have I can probably say that it is.” Jeesa replied showing him the scans. “The damping field is not helping with the scans either,” she added as he started to study it.

“So Kepara was definitely a Tkon world, that was for some reason moved here,” Damir said as Jeesa nodded. “Indeed it is Commander, it seems we hit a jackpot per se,” Jeesa said as this was something of a scientist’s dream to come upon a planet that belonged to an Empire that has long been gone.

“This is, I thought never in my life would be finding anything of this magnitude. Maybe we will learn more about who the Tkon were and how they were able to move planets, even entire systems.” Damir said as he sounded almost like a child in a candy store.

“Indeed, I am going to get this report to the Captain as we need to start preparing to head to the planet soon,” Jeesa said as she started to compile the report for the Captain. Once she had everything on a padd they both walked out of Astrometrics and headed back towards the bridge to brief the Captain on their latest discovery.

Preparations

USS Vesta, Kepara Colony
October 2399

After arriving back on the bridge for the third time that day, she looked at the Captain. “So, my hypothesis was correct Kepara was at one point a Tkon world and was the only planet that is in this system to have been moved some thousands of years ago before they went extinct,” Jeesa said as both Adams and Tajir looked at each other then back at the Lieutenant.

“Though it would seem from my scans that the system itself has always been here, just the planet itself moved,” Jeesa replied as she gave the Captain the padd with all the information on it. Adams took the padd and began to look over it while Jeesa continued on with what she had to say.

“There is definitely some technology in that cave, though I can’t tell exactly what due to the damping field that is in place,” Jeesa confirmed before she went on to suggest bringing one more person on the away mission. “I am no engineer, I suggest that Commander Jheria joins us on the away team,” Jeesa said looking at them, Adams sat there and thought for a moment before agreeing.

Tapping her combadge, “Adams to Commander Dilucca please report to sickbay to get the needed alterations done as you will be joining us on the away team.” Adams said as there seemed to be a long pause before Jheria responded. “Aye sir,” was all that was said before the comm channel ended.

“I suggest we all get ready as we have forty-five minutes before we head down to the planet,” she replied as she stood up before continuing. “Once we are finished we are to head to the transporter room.” She said before turning to look at Tajir, “you have the bridge Commander,” looking at Tajir giving him assurance that everything will be alright without saying a word before turning to leave the bridge with Jeesa walking behind her.

They each headed to their own quarters to get changed into the clothing that Commander Kriia had noted in her report.

While the others were getting ready Jheria had made her way to the infirmary. Walking in she looked around to see if she could see Commander Zoran anywhere before a voice ran out behind her. “Can I help you, Commander?” The nurse replied looking at the engineer. “I am looking for Commander Zoran.” Jheria replied as the nurse smiled, “right this way.” She said as they both began to walk to where the Doctor was.

“Here she is Commander,” came her reply before she walked off. Teila turned around to notice the Andorian officer. “How can I help you?” Teila said with a bright smile, “So it would seem I am being sent on the away team down to the planet below so I need to look like the people below.” Jheria said looking at the red-headed doctor who always seemed to have a bright smile on her face.

“Wonderful, right this way and we will begin,” Teila said as she leads Jheria to a bio bed to begin the long process of changing her appearance which wouldn’t be easy as say someone with just nose ridges or spots. “So are you excited to be going down and looking for technology that was all thought to be gone?” Teila asked as she knew Jheria was an engineer and finding technology one would wonder if one would get excited to learn about something they never thought of before or a race that long been gone.

I am actually, you don’t just find technology like this in your lifetime and here we are possibly finding technology on an Empire thought to be long forgotten. Though I don’t agree with breaking the Prime Directive to do it, I know the Captain is taking all precautions to limit exposing ourselves while we’re down there.” Jheria replied looking at her.

Teila nodded as Jheria talked, “I am kinda jealous” Teila admitted as she always loved science. Though she ultimately decided to become a doctor over becoming a scientist the passion was still there.

Jheria tilted her head to the side for a brief moment, “oh?” She asked looking at Teila hoping she would elaborate. “While growing up I had a passion for both science and medicine. It was very hard to choose between the two, though I ultimately chose to become a Doctor, though I never stopped loving science and continue to learn everything I can in my free time.” Teila replied as Jheria nodded in return, “I would love to see what Tkon technology looks like and be able to know more about them.” Teila added as she continued to work on the Commander.

“Well, I am not going to say for certain, but if you talk to the Captain once we can get it on board, maybe she will allow you to work with Commander Atur in studying it more,” Jheria said as from what she knew about Adams she was a very reasonable person and more the likely would allow it.

“That would be cool, though I don’t want to be too pushy since I am new to the crew,” Teila replied as she finished her work and Jheria looked like a whole new person. “All finished Commander, care to look in the mirror?” She asked with a smile as Jheria nodded almost nervous to see herself.

Getting up from the biobed she walked over to where a long-standing mirror was located and looked in. She was shocked, almost not able to recognize herself as she looked in the mirror. “You are almost a whole new person Commander,” Teila said as she smiled.

Touching her face with her hands, that was once blue was now a medium tan color, her hair that once was white was now blonde. “Wow,” was all she could muster as she looked at the outfit she was wearing. “I have hidden the commbadge under the clothing so you will still be able to communicate with the away team and the ship.” She said as Jheria nodded as she was shown were, “Thank you, Commander.” She replied looking back in the mirror for a few moments more.

“Your welcome, please be safe down there,” Teila replied as she walked off before Jheria could reply back to attend to two security officers who were also getting alterations to join the away team.

After a few moments of looking at herself, she turned away from the mirror and headed out of the infirmary. Walking down the corridor she was getting officers doing a double-take on her before realizing it was Jheria. She headed to the transporter room, though she decided to take the long way instead of just taking the turbo lift as they still had a little while before they would beam down. After a while, she finally made it and walked in to notice that some of the team was already there waiting. They were shocked at her transformation and smiled, “you look amazing Jheria.” Jeesa replied with a bright smile as Damir nodded.

“Thanks,” Jheria replied as they were just waiting for the security team to arrive before they would review the plan and head down to the planet below.

Honey, We’re Home

USS Vesta, Kepara Colony
October 2399

Makayla looked around the room, they were still waiting on the two security officers to arrive. Jeesa and Damir were talking with each other as they waited while Jheria just stood there quietly waiting. Adams herself kept playing different scenarios around in her head of both things that could possibly go wrong or smoothly. After a few moments, the doors to the transporter room opened and the two security guards walked in.

“What are you doing here Lieutenant,” she said as she noticed Dazra was among the security team. “I decided that I would be one of the lookouts Captain,” Dazra said as the other security officer just shrugged and joined the group.

Letting out a frustrated sigh she replied while looking at her sternly, “alright but I expect you to follow orders Lieutenant, I don’t want a repeat of the incident on the bridge.” She warned Dazra as she was not happy about the continuous insubordination that she has a habit of doing. “Aye sir,” Dazra replied as the Captain spoke up again while pressing a button on the padd to bring up the holographic image of the planet below.

“We will beam down here,” she pointed to the spot on the map before continuing. “As you very well know we will have to walk to the entrance of the cave due to the damping field that is in place. Dazra you will lead the away team up the mountain while Ensign Morgan tails behind making sure we have not been spotted or are being followed.” She said as everyone started to listen to the instructions.

“This will be a long journey so I hope you all packed water to drink to keep yourself hydrated. From our scans, it seems that they are in what Earth would call their mid-summer and the temps can be as high as 90 degrees Fahrenheit.” Adams paused for a moment before continuing.

“Once we reached the cave, the two security officers will remain at the opening while Commander Jahraus leads the way to where the Tkon technology is supposedly located according to our sensor readings. Once we have located the tech we will begin to see if we can move the equipment to the ship if so we will tag it for the transporter to get a lock on, or if we have to examine it from where it is. Jheria will be the one to determine that.” She replied before Jeesa spoke up and asked a question.

“What if it can’t be moved what will we do then?” She asked.

“We will try accessing the information where it is with the help of Jheria, we will download anything we can to be examined more onboard the Vesta. But, be prepared as we don’t know what we will be dealing with. Tkon technology is tricky and there might be some protection that we don’t know about that can cause issues accessing the information. Hopefully, Jheria can bypass those if they are any.” She replied looking at Jeesa who nodded.

“Once we got what we came for, we will return to the Vesta.” She finished looking at the officers that were present. “Any more questions?” she asked looking at them, they looked at each other and shook their heads. Adams nodded and shut down her padd placing it in her backpack. “Alright, well we better get going.” She said as they all stepped onto the transporter padd and looked at the chief.

“Energize,” Adams ordered as the Chief nodded pressing a few buttons on the console and the away team had started to disappear from the ship only to appear at their coordinates on the planet below. Taking a moment to gather her surroundings and pulling out a small tricorder she scanned the area.

“Alright were clear no signs of the inhabitance anywhere near this large mountain,” Adams said as she looked at the size and where the trail would start. “Well, let’s get moving.” She said as Dazra started to lead them up the mountain to where the opening of the cave was. Adams was right behind her followed by the rest, ending with Ensign Morgan trailing behind them keeping active scans of the area.
