Darkness Comes Swiftly

Michelle Oliver is starting her retaliation for the Tesla's interference with her plans. The Tesla is safe for now, but the world of Captain Ryder will soon be turned upside down. After a surprise transfer to a Vesta Class Michelle begins to work harder to make Ryder pay for what he did.

The Beginning of Revenge Is Simple

Diitov - Olivers Secret Base
2399

On the fringe world of Diitov there was a secret one that only a few people knew about. Diitov was a world primarily covered by water and barely inhabited. The planet had one sole inhabitant and hidden underwater sit the sprawling hidden base.

The black corridors bathed in dark blue light and the hum of unknown systems were the main sites of this hidden base, but the base held more secrets than just ominous passages.

This base was the home of Michelle Oliver and the one place she went to after the disaster in the Praxis III system and Ryder’s bungling of the Klingon D’Ghor alliance. She was going to take care of that, but first, she needed to call in reinforcements.

Reinforcements that she had already been watching for a while. A Romulan in particular who she figured would be keen on helping. She had sent him the information to the base, but did not reveal her identity. One wrong turn and he wouldn’t live to talk about what he saw.

Ajis strolled through the ominous passages as he slowly headed for where the directions had told him to go. Before this, he had been on his personal ship, buried in conduits and chips, trying to restore a power grid when his communicator had gone off with a new message. Now he’s here, having taken one of the shuttles that was the only working one from the ship rather than taking the small transport he normally flies on jobs that he accepts. He felt this would be a much different job….

He eventually found himself at a junction of sorts and a room to his right. Pulling out the small hand PADD he had, rereading the instructions, and then shrugged one of his shoulders, believing he had found the correct place. He was wearing a long black leather jacket, nothing ominous about that… with a dark gray tank top, black pants with what looked like standard-issue Imperial Navy boots under the pant cuffs. What he also had that might stand out, if the left side of the jacket were to open more, was a Starfleet commbadge that was on his belt, upside down. He looked around some, wondering if he was the only one in the room….

Michelle had been watching Ajis as he wandered around her base. The thoughts going through his head were probably why he had been asked there. Michelle needed someone with a ship and a cloaked ship was even better. She had combed her database for information and had discovered Ajis was trying to get work. She had the perfect work for him, but it was only if he agreed to the nefarious plans she had. She waited until he was in the room and spoke.

“Angel increase lights to 50%” she spoke.

A voice replied “Lights increased Ma’am”

As the blue lights washed over the black interior Michelle appeared sitting in a seat with two Siberian Huskies on each side of her growling at the newcomer, as the lights revealed the Romulan.

“It’s ok boys, he’s not here to harm us.” She replied in a calm yet sharp voice.

She looked back at the newcomer and spoke up “Ajis I presume?”

Ajis blinked a little bit when the lights grew brighter, enough to reveal her and the two lovely animals. Though hearing them growl was really a typical response that he understood all too well. They were trained well, and he respected that.

Ajis folded his arms across his chest, not at all trying to look intimidating, just really felt like it. “Michelle Sue Oliver, spoiled child at start, only to rebel against her parents and joined Starfleet. Became one of the finest Officers in Starfleet Intelligence, rose through the ranks until the tragedy with your parents. My condolences by the way. If you’re wondering how I know, I learned to keep tabs on people who peaked the Romulan Navy Intelligence interests. But I will admit…” He looked around some more and then pointed up, generally at the entire compound. “This is impressive. I guess money does get you everything.”

Michelle smiled “It does not get you everything but it can help make hiding from the world useful. This base is much bigger than you think. I figured you would know who I was Ajis. You are just as interesting.”

She hit a button on the chair and a screen appeared on the wall in front of Ajis. “Angel display the Ajis record.”

Next to Michelle a holographic character appeared “As ordered Ma’am.”

“Ajis I am not one to mince words, but this assignment is not for the faint of heart. It will be difficult and I will end up with blood on my hands. I am suggesting murder of innocents or who most would call innocent.”

A weird fire burned in her eyes as she made the statement. She seemed nice, but she had many secrets hidden and they consumed her.

Ajis watched as a holographic character appeared, obviously named ‘Angel’ and then watched as his record appeared next to her. He chuckled and shrugged one of his shoulders. He expected it, they both used to work for intelligence in their government so why would either of them be surprised that either of them knew each other?

“It seems interesting that both our paths happen to have come together. You worked in Starfleet Intelligence. I worked in Romulan Imperial Intelligence. Your parents were falsely murdered. My parents were falsely murdered. You left your government. I left my government. Only thing different is, your family was wealthy, mine were patriots. You got this lovely base built from your own wealth. I found a relic of the past.” He took in a deep breath as he recollected what she said earlier about a job.

“All jobs are bloody, Miss Oliver. I did not have much planned to get back at the scum who killed my family. But you, however, seemed to have it all figured out on how to get back at the scum who killed yours.” He started to walk around in the room a bit, as his right hand went up to his chin as he began to contemplate, vocally. “Fact that you called for me leads me to believe I have something that you want. Something that would be incredibly useful for your plans.” He said as he continued his slow strides. “You already have the skills to carry out just about any job you want. Heck, you could probably afford a Klingon Negh’var with your wealth, and with this advanced AI, assuming she is AI after all, you could crew an entire starbase with holograms.” His stride soon stopped, right back where he began. “All I can think of is that we both have different sets of skills, maybe a few that are alike, but quite a bit of difference between us, so that would make us mutual partners in this relationship, or however you wish to call it.”

He appeared that he had just finished but then he snapped his fingers. “You want the relic that I found. My ship. Very clever.” He smirked before sighing.

Michelle quietly listened and pet the husky nearest her. Though he was correct in one sense he failed to see her big picture and that was ok with her. She never did like people to know everything.

“Well you are partially correct, but not completely regardless I have heard you’ve had some problems getting your ship restored. I am wanting to recruit your ship and you as a part of my team. The ship has a cloaking device and that is super useful to me.”

She stopped and stood motioning for him to follow her. The base looked different lit it was black but the bright blue lights and the screens down the corridor showed the true power that Michelle held in this base. She walked down each corridor knowing where she was headed, while the two dogs following her. She stopped in front of two massive double doors and input a code as well as a retinal scan before the doors slid open and the area revealed with a bright white light in an already white interior. This part of the base looked different and there was a reason for that. It was full of tools and parts, but not just any parts it was the exact parts Ajis needed.

“This should have all you need to repair your ship. As you can see there is a pad in the middle of the room. It rises up to the surface for quick departure and quick concealment. This base has many surprises, but that’s for another time. If you want to transfer your ship here it can be arranged. You also have access to these quarters.” She passed him a PADD “All your codes and information for the base is here.”

Michelle waited patiently for Ajis to process everything.

While Ajis was following her a moment ago, before all of this shiny reveal, he was going on about how the Cloaking Device was from the 23rd Century, and even with the modifications he made, it still was not as efficient and stable as the Cloaking Devices of the current century. Then he went to the power systems, how the main core was bone dry, hell he wasn’t even sure he could restore it, being that everything was built back in the 23rd century. But the moment he saw those doors and the interior of this massive room and the lift along with the explanation, he went from complaining about the likelihood of restoring the ship being nearly impossible to complete silence.

He looked at all the parts that were there, some that he could only get a glimpse from the distance until he was eyeing the PADD that she was handing to him. He took the PADD, looking at the codes, information, and even started to scroll through it, skimming the material before lowering the PADD and looking up at everything before looking right at her. “You got everything here. Even a medical plan, dental plan, pet insurance, villain secret underwater base insurance ….” He smirked, “I suppose there is a signup bonus as well.” He chuckled.

He took in a deep breath as he walked for a brief, looking at some of the parts. “Again…money really can buy everything.” He chuckled again then threw up his arms and dropped them to his side. “All right. You know me well.” He walked back to her while entering something onto the PADD before showing it to her. “These are the coordinates of the ship. The atmosphere is one of those…’ sometimes I like to hide things’ kind of thing. I only detected it when I crashed a shuttle onto that planet.” He pointed at another set of numbers. “Access code to deactivate the cloaking device. It isn’t perfect but, what or whoever you send, will likely still miss it if they can’t see it.”

Gold Wings In The Navy

Holodeck USS Tesla
2399

(This story is in the POV of the holodeck character.)

The holodeck had been reserved quite frequently since the last two missions and Amanda had been wanting to continue her story she had been going through since the Academy. In fact no one knew about this program she had kept it quiet, but she knew eventually someone would learn of it. The Captain had made some off duty time for all the bridge officers and it was Amanda’s turn.

She had donned a big coat to cover the outfit she was wearing, not that it was a big deal, but she was still trying to keep it quiet as long as she could. She liked being alone in this program letting it run without any other actual people in the simulation. She made it to the deck and input the program before entering and taking the coat off.

((CAG’s Office, USS Eisenhower, Atlantic Ocean))

The program had started her as an Ensign in the USN, but she had worked her way through the ranks. She knew she was not a part of the time where the USN existed, but she always enjoyed reading about the USN and how it operated. After entering the Academy she had created this program and ran it in her spare time.

She went to flight school to fly Raptors and acquired her Golden wings. Her character was now Captain Allison Cerion. She was the CAG, which stood for Commander Air Group, but it was also the nickname for the Air Wing Commander, which she was on the Eisenhower. She had built a reputation on the ship and the crew liked her, which wasn’t always easy as the CAG her job was to make the tough decisions and that meant sometimes grounded pilots or pulling them from flying all together.

She had been working on her reports when the ship intercom blared “CAG to the bridge!”

She got up and quickly made her way through the intertwining passages. Over the time of being in the simulation she had learned the ship, but it had taken some time. She made it to the bridge rather quickly, saluting the Captain as she stood in front of him wondering why she had been called.

The Captain was a fair man and a good fit for the Eisenhower. He had been on the ship since Amanda had been placed on the ship as Cerion. Captain John Rabb has made sure she was welcomed on the ship though there had been some issues. The men didn’t exactly like the woman CAG, but she had proved herself and the respect she had earned was hers alone.

Cerian spoke “You asked for me, Sir?”

The Captain nodded and saluted back. “At ease CAG, we have orders from CENTCOM (United States Central Command) to launch fighters for support in an attack on Syria.”

”How many are they requesting?” Cerion inquired.

Rabb looked up and shook his head. ”All of them, CAG.” he replied.

Her eyes got wide; she had never heard of such an order. The ship usually had some fighters left for support. She couldn’t understand what CENTCOM thought to gain out of it.

“All due respect Captain, but what are they thinking? Depleting our entire complement could be catastrophic. Along with me as well.” Cerion stated out of pure concern and bluntness.

The Captain looked up from the plans and shook his head. “Sorry CAG, but you’re to stay here and monitor the squadron.”

Cerion thought to herself. “70 Aircraft and I’m to stay here. What is going on?”

Yes Sir, if there is nothing else I will brief my pilots and see preparations are made for launch?” She said conceding defeat.

Rabb replied with a reply knowing how Cerion felt. “Very good and CAG I know how much you want to go up, but orders are orders; however keep one craft back and a WSO (Weapons Systems Officer) just in case you need to go up.”

Cerion nodded and departed the bridge, still unsure of what CENTCOM was thinking. It wasn’t normal to ground a CAG especially one with experience like hers and in the mission they were wanting to conduct. Air strikes were precision and quick without a proper recon of the area. Cerion didn’t feel comfortable with the decision but even she couldn’t fight CENTCOM.

She swung back around making her way back to the Captain.

”Sir, permission to fly a recon mission? The mission isn’t set till tomorrow.” She asked with excitement.

The Captain nodded “Granted, but Captain do things by the books please.”

Cerion nodded and left to find her WSO. She headed to the cafeteria and found her WSO Josiah Rodriguez who she had been with since being stationed on the Eisenhower. She had been saved by his quick thinking more than once.

Josiah was where she figured getting a cup of coffee. She motioned for him, as soon as he caught her eyes.

She smiled with a twinkle in her eye. “We have a recon mission to fly if you’re up for it Lieutenant?”

“Always up for some Airtime CAG. When do we go?” Rodriguez asked.

“Immediately as soon as we are dressed.” Cerion replied.

She smirked and headed to don her flight suit with Rodriguez on her heels. She donned the suit and headed to the flight deck. The roar of jets launching always spiked her adrenaline. She signaled the deck officer and proceeded into the Raptor for pre flight checks.

She had done it for so long it was like clockwork now. And with Rodriguez it went quicker. Within minutes they were prepped and ready. She put on the helmet and looked at the deck officer saluting. As the nod came the Raptor was shot off the carrier and Cerion was officially in control.

She pulled the throttle back and accelerated till she was above cloud cover. Once above she keyed her radio. ”Hammer this is Raptor 224 en route to objective Kilo. Are we clear to proceed?”

She got the reply from the Eisenhower. “You are clear to proceed 224.”

Cerion accelerated and headed for the shore. When on a mission no real names were given and everyone was referred to by the call sign they had been assigned.

Cerion spoke to Rodriguez. “Stinger maintain radio silence.”

The reply came back. “Copy that CAG.”

Cerion switched her radar on and plotted the course coming around to 240 arcing the Raptor to the left quickly and accelerating. Within minutes they reached the coast and prepped for the recon flight.

“Switch to long range radar and scan Stinger.” She ordered as she took the plane into a small dive.

“Already on it CAG.” Silence for a minute before Rodriguez replied. “CAG we have a problem. I am reading multiple bogeys inbound.”

Cerion looked at her radar seeing MiGs ahead.

What are MiGs doing here, Stinger?” She inquired in slight confusion.

“I am unsure, but we need to go quickly or we will be outnumbered.” Rodriguez said with a slight hint of concern.

Cerion chuckled “Don’t forget your with the CAG.”

She pulled the Raptor into a dive and accelerated pushing through cloud cover pulling up to skim the ocean. She accelerated pulling her oxygen mask tight and taking a deep breath. She pulled the throttle up and saw two MiGs above her closing in fast and beginning their own dives towards the Raptor.

“Stinger, acquire targets trajectory” she ordered.

“Acquiring the trajectory now CAG!” Rodriguez replied back.

Cerion saw the MiGs flight path appear on her radar and she unlocked her weapons control keying the Eisenhower for authorization.

“Hammer we have unconfirmed number of bogeys. Permission to engage.” She asked as she continued to watch the MiGs on approach.

“224 this is Hammer Authorization granted!” The Eisenhower replied.

Cerion accelerated back up to the level of the Migs and leveled out. Acquiring a lock on one she fired. The next thing she saw was a ball of flames. She heard a shrill beep notifying her the other Mig had locked on. She pulled the Raptor into a climb trying to evade the Mig, but was notified by Rodriguez that the MiG had fired.

Cerion deployed flares and banked hard to the left. The missile fell for the flares and detonated into them. Cerion pulled back and acquired a lock on the MiG firing, but the pilot was smart and evaded the missile. Cerion banked and reacquired the target. She locked on, but this time making sure the pilot would not be able to avoid the missile. As the MiG exploded she accelerated back towards the carrier.

“CAG we have multiple bogeys. And Sir it’s not something we can fight.” Rodriguez stated with a hint of worry in his voice.

“Understood. Hammer this is 224 we have multiple bogeys inbound. We need support.” Cerion reported.

“CAG this is Striker inbound with support.”

Cerion smiled it would have to be Striker. The one person she would want in a fight. He must have been on a flight when hearing Cerion’s call on the radio.

“Good to hear your nearby Striker! Let’s get back to Hammer without tails.” She ordered to the other flyer.

She accelerated and got above cloud cover heading towards the carrier. The bogeys were behind too far, but she knew she needed to cut her losses and get back before something bad happens.

She saw ahead two blips coming towards them.

“Striker we have some uninvited guest. Let’s make sure they don’t join the party.” Cerion ordered.

She did not want the enemy to find the Carrier Group. She accelerated and banked the Raptor in a simple flanking maneuver. Striker followed the same pattern and both Raptors were now behind the MiGs. She made sure Striker had locked into the target before she followed the same pattern.

Moments later two balls of fire were seen and the MiGs had disappeared from the radar. Cerion looked to see how far the other MiGs were behind. When she was confident they could not follow she opened communications.

”Striker let’s head back. You’ll be landing first so take the lead.”she ordered.

”Aye Aye CAG!” Striker replied as he took the lead.

After a decent flight back the deck of the Eisenhower was visible. After Striker had landed successfully Cerion got the go ahead from the Deck Officer.

“You have the ball CAG bring her home.” the officer stated.

Cerion gracefully led the Raptor to the deck of the carrier hooking to the deck and stopping for yet another successful landing. The sun was setting as she touched down the sun glinting off her glasses.

Amanda realized she had been in the holodeck for awhile and she should probably end her session for now.

“Great job Rodriguez we will brief at 08:00 get some rest.” Cerion smiled as they climbed out of the Raptor.

“Aye aye CAG. I will do that after a paint the successful elimination on the jet. We are running out of room.” Rodriguez laughed.

Cerion smiled and saluted him before departing from the flight deck and heading for her office after taking off her flight suit.

She got back to her office and spoke to the ships computer.

”Computer end simulation.”

The ship disappeared and the holodeck appeared in front of her. She smiled, it was always an adrenaline rush for this simulation. She exited the holodeck and headed back to her quarters happy with the results of the session.

Evaluating The Hard Decisions

USS Tesla
2399

The USS Tesla was bustling with activity as they docked back at the Federation base. Multiple repairs needed to be made to the ship after the fight in the Archanis Campaign, as well as the inventory needing to be restocked with fresh supplies for their next deployment. The crew was buzzing about like busy worker bees as they scrambled to get things in order in record time. The crew of the new ship was riding the high of their last victory and was eager to be back on their next mission. It was during the wrapping up of the repairs that Ryder called Savik into a meeting.

“Commander Savik, report to Holodeck 2 in thirty minutes for an evaluation.”

“Orders received, Captain,” Savik responded quickly, wondering what her new CO had in mind.

((Timeskip to Holodeck))

Michael didn’t do this on every occasion, but he felt a good way to test Savik’s skills even after her time at the Academy was to put her through a simulation he ran to test his officers. The best way to teach them was to put them in a situation they didn’t know. Michael had a way of evaluating his officers constantly and he held all of his crew to high standards, but his second in command he took special action to determine they could make the tough calls.

The simulation had placed them on a planet with the mission of collecting some samples for study, but Savik supposed it would not play out quite as expected. Savik wasn’t certain what planet they had been placed on for the simulation, realizing that it could be a dreamed up reality purely for the sake of training, but not being well traveled she supposed it could be a real planet. She figured it was irrelevant to the task at hand and instead closely studied the terrain to find any possible advantage in case of an attack.

Savik studied the instructions on her PADD and then began to disperse the orders among the waiting group of scientists.

“A group of two are assigned to collect samples around the riverbed located to the northeast of our location, three are assigned to gather foliage samples from the valley to the south, and the other two will collect specimens from the more arid region to the west. Keep us apprised of any issues on comms. We will meet back here at the shuttle in 3 hours,” Savik read out the orders.

Michael was of course the ever silent observer in this case, as he watched but did not talk. He took notes on his PADD of not just Savik, but the other members who had been asked to take part in this evaluation. His reasons were not questions and the crew knew there had to be a good reason for such an event to take place after the scars that were still fresh from the encounter at Praxis III. Michael knew Michelle would be coming back and he needed to evaluate his crew. He was going to be a part of the mission at this point.

With the group of scientists split up they would be hard pressed to provide adequate coverage for protection, but Savik supposed that was all part of the task for the simulation. They had two shuttles with them, and the PADD display informed her that those two shuttles were their only means of transport off the planet since the magnetic interference of this planet’s core would wreak havoc on a transporter, making any attempt at dematerialization impossible. It was only a short amount of time before a small group of the scientists who had traveled down into the valley to collect samples sent out a distress call.

Savik sat down at shuttle two’s display unit to assess the situation. “Captain, looks like the group in the valley has met with some hostiles,” Savik informed Ryder as she scanned the images coming in through the shuttle’s radar.

“We are taking fire!” The voice screamed over the airways to pound through the comms. “We ran into some locals! They didn’t want to talk! Attacked immediately!” By the short statements and deep breaths between each statement, it was apparent that the scientists were running.

Michael nodded at his First Officer “Where does it say the crew is at?”

“They’re headed northeast,” Savik already had the engines whirring as the shuttle lifted off the ground. “The hostiles are in pursuit.”

Michael noted the fact that Savik had indeed taken control of the situation and that was something he had been really wanting to evaluate. He watched as she piloted the shuttle towards the location where the crew reportedly was. “I think this expedition should be cut short. What about you?”

Savik nodded in agreement and quickly opened a comm channel to hail the other groups of scientists. “All groups return to shuttle one. Wait there for the captain’s and my return. Area has been deemed hostile and no further exploration will be permitted without a guarded escort.”

Affirmative messages came in over the airways as the remaining scientists began to head back towards the other shuttle.

Their shuttle could not get them to the scene of the skirmish quickly enough to satisfy Savik, but when she neared the fleeing group of scientists, the shuttle immediately began taking fire from the enemy on the ground. Savik struggled to evade the barrage of shots that rained down on the little shuttle, but a blast that seemed to come out of nowhere crippled the engines.

“Engine failure!” Savik reported. “All I can do is set her down as gently as possible.”

“Do your best XO.” Michael said as he remembered his first time in the same situation, but in a horrible storm.

Sirens blared, the whole display lit up in an array of flashing warnings as Savik prepared for a crash landing, trying to guide the shuttle to land between the fleeing scientists and their pursuers. The shuttle skidded across the ground as they made contact, the sound of the hull scraping over rocks causing Savik to cringe. This bird wasn’t going to fly again today. They would have to make it back to the second shuttle if they hoped to get off this planet.

“Shuttle one is 10 klicks northwest of our position,” Savik checked the info on her wrist comm before reaching out to pull the handle for the manual door release. “And we have some rough terrain to cover.”

The landing was rough, but it could have been way worse; it was now time for the real test to occur and this would be where the real evaluation began. Michael had never done such an evaluation, but he had learned the best way to test his officers and this would really test Saviks resolve.

((Timeskip))

As the enemy forces closed in around them, the crew slowly drew back to a narrow pass slithering through the stretching mountains. The rocky crags loomed above them, casting harsh shadows on the terrain below. Harsh reality set in and Savik knew this was the best place to make a stand. The team of scientists they were protecting would never make it back to the shuttle alive with this throng of riotous natives on their heels. Turning back to face the advancing hordes, she pulled up her phaser and unsheathed her katana with her free hand.

“I’ll hold them back. You need time to reach the ship and this group of scientists won’t make it with an enemy horde on their tail. This pass is a good place to hold them since they can only attack a few at a time.”

“No Commander, I want you to go and get the crew back to the shuttle and the ship as quickly as possible. I will hold back the enemy to give you the time to get the crew to the shuttle. I wish you the best.” He concluded.

“Captain, you’re far more capable of getting them back to the ship and commanding the ship than I am. It would be to the advantage of the entire crew if you were to return rather than me.”

“Do not try and countermand my orders, Commander. You have your orders Commander Savik carry them out.” He stated sternly, peeking from the cover to see if the enemy had arrived yet.

Savik bit the corner of her lower lip but nodded in compliance. “As you command,” she submitted to his decision. She quickly whirled back to gather the group of huddled scientists. “We make for the shuttle. No stopping for anything. We have a lot of ground to cover. I’ll take up the rear. Everyone move,” she commanded sharply.

She threw back a glance and a final nod of recognition over her shoulder as she looked back at their fearless captain, ready at his position blocking the pass from any who would attempt to follow them. She did not see the captain fall to the enemy, but as the simulation faded out, she supposed the training exercise was over.

Savik bit her lower lip as the holodeck faded back into view. She hoped she hadn’t failed in any way due to the simulation resulting in her captain’s death. However, being familiar with the parameters of a kobayashi maru, Savik accepted that there may be moments when the crew could be placed in a no win situation. Yet as she glanced over at her new Captain, she hoped such a situation in real life would play out far differently.

((Timeskip to Captain’s Ready Room))

Savik was still nervous when entering the Captain’s room. Although she had only been under his command for a short time, it seemed like ages with all they had been through. Yet she did not relish the words she now felt compelled to speak.

“Captain Ryder,” she addressed him formally, announcing her presence.

“Come in and have a seat XO.” He said motioning to the seat in front of him.

Savik’s eyes fell to the ground as she prepared herself to speak her mind. “One question, sir,” she began. “Is that how the scenario would play out in real life were such a situation to occur?” She now rose her eyes to meet his gaze as she placed the question.

“Commander, as the Captain sometimes you have to be willing to protect your crew even at the sacrifice of your own life. I never want to say that such a scenario would occur, but it could be possible.” he said looking at his XO.

“I would never presume to question your dedication to the Tesla or your bravery, and in a simulated situation I believe it is vital for morale that a person of your station prove their willingness to lay down their life for their crew, however,” Savik bit her lower lip as she was accustomed to doing when placed in uncomfortable situations, “Where such a occurrence to take place in the field, I do believe a different course of action should be taken.”

“Please Commander explain your words.” He said curious to see what she was going to say.

“Captain,” Savik’s eyes met with Ryder’s and she did not look away as she addressed him, “Were the Tesla to lose you as their Captain, there is no telling what could occur. With your credentials and experience you are clearly a far more capable commander than I would be in any situation. Should circumstances occur where one of us must lay down their life for the survival of the crew, I would hope you would select me as the obvious choice. In such a scenario, it is not a matter of pride but a matter of what is best for the Tesla as a whole, and with you at the helm the Tesla is a far more formidable fighting force than it would be without you. I say this will all due respect, sir. Acknowledging that I will always obey your orders no matter what you decide, however I simply felt compelled to express to you my opinion on the matter.”

Michael rose from his seat and walked over placing an arm on his XO’s shoulder “Tia it’s not the fact that I am the more capable commander it is the fact that as the Captain I will decide what would be best. I may be more experienced, but you have a longer career ahead of you and I want you to succeed. If that meant you taking the Tesla, so be it. My job is to help you learn what it is to be a good leader and you did without hesitation by offering to stay behind so that I may live. I urge you to remember that life is precious and each moment should be cherished. That being said this conversation is between us and I hope it shows you the decisions I have to contend with in hard times. You did good today and I could not be prouder to have you as my XO.”

He went back to his seat and handed her a PADD” Here is a three day pass go and enjoy yourself and know that you are the XO of the Tesla and that title will be yours as long as you want it.”

Savik’s chest swelled with pride, but she attempted to conceal her emotions. “Thank you, Sir,” she responded in the most professional tone she could muster.

Old Flames

USS Tesla Scarlet Fire Brewhouse
2399

((Diitov))

Michelle watched as the ship disappeared into the depths of the base and smiled it was time to contact her secret contact on the Tesla. An old friend and someone she knew she could trust. She had met Felicity while in the Academy and came to trust her with many pieces of personal information. She had been in contact with her but had not quite eluded to why she needed information about the Tesla. The whole plan she had thrived on being able to know where the Tesla would be at all times.

She quickly made her way to her personal part of the base and sealed the area off from any possible eavesdropping. She opened a comm channel to Felicity hoping she would answer.

((On the USS Tesla))

((Scarlet Fire Brewhouse))

The newly remodeled bar area on the Tesla was cozy, but also a widely popular area when officers and enlisted were off duty. It could have been to the inviting atmosphere, the perfect drinks, or the attractive redhead behind the counter, regardless Felicity made sure the crew was always comfortable in the Scarlet Fire Brewhouse. Felicity had programmed the food to be like traditional bar food and a very inviting area. She had tried to make it as close to her old bar in San Francisco but knew it needed its own special touch. She had tried to make it as cozy as possible and unlike most Starfleet ships she made it look as close to an actual bar as she could with the drinks behind her on shelves. She always had a piece of ambient music playing and found herself currently humming the toon that was currently playing.

She was the one smiling face on the Tesla that every crew member seemed to trust. The day had been productive and rather enjoyable she never really liked closing the bar, but also knew she needed to sleep. She was just cleaning up for the night when her comms beeped.

She sighed and accepted the message on her wrist comm hearing a familiar voice. “Hi Felicity how’s tricks” came the smooth voice.

Felicity chuckled and shook her head before replying “Michelle, what are you doing calling me at this time of the evening.” She had quieted her voice not wanting anyone to hear who was calling her. Felicity knew why she had been contacted, but did not really want to let Michelle know she wasn’t being completely truthful.

“I just want to make sure the Tesla is still on course? You know I can’t be too careful.” Oliver retorted almost smugly.

Felicity had a secret, but she acted just as she always would when Michelle called her. “On course and expected to arrive as we had discussed.”

A solitary reply of good came and the line was disconnected, which seemed to be Michelle’s goodbye no matter when she was talking to Felicity.

“Real personable there Michelle.” She muttered to herself as she made a not of the time of the call and the information that had been asked.” She had been trying to decide how to approach Michael with the information that Michelle wanted to cause some problems for the Tesla. She and Michael hadn’t spoken since the awkward goodbye when he graduated from the Academy. She was thinking maybe she needed to talk to Savik first, but she was trying to decide. The deep thought of seeing Michael had been eating at her and she wasn’t sure she would be able to not talk to him for much longer.

She was cleaning off the bar table and putting things away when a face appeared at the bar entrance. One she had not expected to see at least not at this time of the evening. It was Michael the one person she had wanted to see.

She smiled and waved him in “Captain Ryder what can I do for you?”

Michael had been hammered with work throughout the day dealing with evaluations and reports. He had been dealing with a fight between himself and his wife and he just felt like he needed to let off some steam. He had thought of an adventure in the holodeck and was thinking that would be the plan. He was heading that way when he saw the bar and noticed Felicity hadn’t closed it yet. “Felicity” he thought. He hadn’t really said that name in a long time, but it had never really ever been forgotten. He started walking towards the bar.

He had been avoiding going to the bar because of his past feeling for Felicity, but he didn’t give it much thought tonight. He heard Felicity’s voice and the past started flooding his vision of the many countless nights there talking to her about everything and trying to hide the true feelings he had for her. He had not talked to her since that night he told her he was leaving. The look on her face was not something he ever forgot and seeing her now made those memories flood back stronger than he had ever expected them to.

Felicity looked back at Michael and noticed he had not moved “Uhh Captain are you ok?”

Michael snapped back to reality as he heard her voice and shook his head “Felicity your not a member of the crew just call me Mike as you always did in the past.”

Felicity smiled slightly and motioned for him to come closer to the bar laying a napkin down indicating a spot for him. “Well, it’s nice to see you, Mike. What brings you here? I haven’t seen you come here since I opened the bar…at your request.”

Michael sat down and nodded “I apologize for that Felicity probably not the best way to show you gratitude for coming and boosting the ship’s morale.” He looked up at her and continued talking “In truth Felicity, I wasn’t quite sure how I could face you after what happened when I finished the Academy.”

Felicity paused and couldn’t speak for a moment. She had not expected Michael to bring up a subject that had seemed to be like a forbidden subject. “Well, if I can ask what do you mean? You seemed to make it very clear where we stood.” She said as she finished his favorite drink a Long Island Iced Tea. She set it down in front of him and wiped her hands waiting to see what he was going to say. In all honesty, Felicity had never truly known his feelings, but she felt she was about to find out.

Micheal grabbed the drink and took a sip, as the drink hit his throat he could feel the warm burn as it went down. He smiled and looked at the glass than at Felicity. “Just as good as always Felicity.” He saw a slight bow from her than a chuckle. As Michael sat there he looked at Felicity seeing her bright hair and that face that had been in his mind since the day he left the bar making the decision he made.

“ Well, I never truly could admit my feeling to you because of Sophie and I am not quite sure if I should do so now, but after today I am to the point I don’t really care. What have I got to lose?” He said as he consumed the entire glass. “My guts if I keep drinking these.” He laughed “You want to join me?”

Felicity shook her head the same old Michael when it came to drinking. He could hold his alcohol, but he seemed to try and outdrink her, which never ended well for him. She poured two glasses of drink and moved to the front of the bar before sitting down beside Michael.

“What kinda life is it if we can’t regret the decisions we make? Cheers!” She said with a small laugh before taking a drink of the beverage. She wasn’t going to push the question she asked it was Michaels choice, but she figured that it was going to happen soon if he kept downing the drinks like he currently was.

Michael took another long drink and began to feel the buzzing which he hadn’t felt in a long time. Sophie never let him drink, but she wasn’t here in fact she wasn’t even on the ship. He looked at Felicity “So you asked me what I meant by trying to face you after the Academy.” He paused and took another long drink his judgment was still there and he wondered if he should tell her the truth. Sophie had been good to him…well most of the time, but things had just seemed to spiral after she decided to not stay with Michael upon his posting on the Tesla. She wanted to be able to work and a long-distance relationship wasn’t seeming to work so well. Michael was lonely and their talks had just been increasingly more volatile just like tonight.

He looked back over at Felicity and realized it was time, to be honest regardless of the possible issues it could cause in the future. He took another drink and looked back over to her. “I always liked you, but I could never admit it. At the time I was torn if I should admit it to you. I mean that sounds stupid knowing how you looked at me and talked to me at the time.”

Felicity could feel herself blushing and she quickly tried to look away but realized this was not the time to hide the truth she had wanted to hear for so long “I mean your not wrong I did try to make it pretty obvious to you that I had feelings. The notes to you while you sit there in front of me every night.” She took a long drink and realized that she could possibly get more information. “Hell, I even did it when you came in with Sophie and tried to ignore me.” She smirked and laughed.

Michael laughed and shook his head “You know how difficult that was to try and hide when you were telling me those things in notes that I had to read when she left the table.” Michael looked over and smiled “You knew how to make me catch feelings.”

He took another drink and heard his stomach growl “Hey Felicity could you get me my regular?”

Felicity nodded and headed to the replicator behind the bar and put in the order for Michael. She was currently happier than she could express though she wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or not. She grabbed the plate and set it in front of Michael standing there smirking as she took a fry and ate it. It was something she did back in the days of the Academy.

Michael stared her down as she took the fry off the plate, but wasn’t serious. He looked at the food and realized he hadn’t eaten this since the last time he had seen Felicity. He grabbed the burger in front of him and took a bite before taking another drink and looking back over at Felicity who was taking yet another fry. “You know I now know why I never had any fries left after looking away so many times from my food.” Michael knew the reason, but he had to pick on Felicity about it because it happened everytime he came around.

Felicity laughed and took another fry. “So what made you want to be honest with me about this after many years Mike?”

Michael stopped and indicated he needed another drink before he would continue and motioned for Felicity to come and sit back beside him again. After the drink was poured and another long drink added to the already somewhat intoxicated Michael he continued. “Sophie and I have not been doing so well and it just seems like each day gets worse. I have tried everything and it seems I can never make her happy. In the Academy she was different, but now…it’s always my fault and she never wants to come and see me.”

Felicity listened as she took another fry and drink listening to what Michael had to say knowing that what he was telling her wouldn’t be normal if he wasn’t so drunk. She was getting pretty drunk herself. She smiled and put an arm around Michael.

Michael finished the food and downed the drink in front of him. He had lost all judgment and was now to the point where he didn’t care he had told Felicity he had always liked her. He however didn’t expect for the words to come out of his mouth that did. “I think I always loved you, Felicity.”

Felicity stopped and was speechless it wasn’t that she didn’t feel the same way, but she had never expected Michael to admit that to her. She looked at him and gave him a kiss on the lips. It was something she had wanted to do for so long but never expected for this night to end the way it was seeming to go. Felicity had never admitted to anyone she liked Michael and she had never really liked anyone as she did him. It was a silly notion to some, but for her, it was everything she ever wanted and the patience had seemed to now pay off. Michael was the one person she joined Tesla for and the only person she wanted in her life long-term.

Michael felt the warmth of Felicity’s lips on him and he liked it.”How about we finish up here and go to your quarters?” He said after being planted with the kiss.

Felicity smiled and nodded cleaning up the bar and closing it before grabbing Michael’s hand and leading him towards her quarters.

Out Of Tragedy Rises The Neptune

USS Tesla
December 20, 2399

(USS Tesla)

(Ryders Personal Quarters, 18:00)

(Starbase Bravo)

Michael was exhausted because the last mission had been taxing and he wasn’t sure if they would get the Tesla back to the Starbase. The last mission destroyed the ship’s integrity and now it was going to take months before the ship would be ready to fly again. Michael was worried about what was to happen next.

He was sitting at his desk trying to figure out what he should do for his crew when he heard a chime on his personal computer.

The holographic representation of Rear Admiral Zack Marshall-Bennet appeared.

Ryder was shocked to see the Rear-Admiral; it wasn’t the first time he had met the Admiral, but he had gotten paperwork from him and knew the man from that regard.

“Admiral! What can I do for you?” He said somewhat shocked.

Smirking at the captain, Bennet greeted the man. “Michael, how’d you like a trip on another ship?”

Michael raised his eyes. “Another ship really, Sir? Which one if I may ask?”

The Neptune, in fact.” Bennet answered. “It would seem there’s been some shake-up and she’s in need of a new captain. You’re my nearest experienced captain, so I want you to take command of her. Get the lay of the land and prep her for launch. You can take the crew of the Tesla with you to supplement who is already there.”

Michael’s eyes widened in surprise “Yes, Sir! I’ve never stepped foot on a Vesta. I may need some information so I know where to get started.” He said with a chuckle.

“I’m sending you everything we have on the Neptune, but I don’t want to spoil too many surprises.” Bennet shared with a wry smile. “I’ll be joining you for the commissioning ceremony and the official handing over of command to you.”

Michael nodded “I’m honored, Admiral.”

“I’ll have my office coordinate with you shortly. Bennet out.” The admiral finished and his holographic version disappeared.

Michael knew it was late, but he figured he should make an announcement to the crew. He tapped his comm badge “All Senior Officers available to the Conference room.” He said as he walked out of his quarters and quickly made his way to the conference room. As expected he was the first to arrive. He pulled up the Neptune’s logo and put it on the screen as he waited for the crew to arrive.

(USS Tesla)

(Scarlet Fire Brewhouse)

Amanda had some free time and was spending her time in the Brewhouse drinking some exceptional Straight Bourbon Whiskey. It has been some time since she had been given the ability to just sit back and after the last mission she needed it. She was taking a sip when she heard the combadge chirp. She sighed after hearing the message. ‘Iz hay rilly makin’ us come tuh uh meetin’ thus late?’ She thought as she stood up looking over at Felicity. “Keep mah bottle Ah’ll bay back”

Felicity nodded as she wondered why the officer would be leaving this late just to come back. “I got you Amanda!”

Amanda smiled and walked out of the Brewhouse quickly making her way to the conference room seeing Ryder she smiled and took her seat.

(USS Tesla)

(Ruvoks Quarters)

Ruvok had been trying to meditate for the past few hours, but the attempt was failing because he couldn’t get the last mission out of his head. The hunt had almost killed him, but he beat the odds. He thought of Sumiko; he hadn’t been able to talk to her because she was on a mission, but he wanted to let her know what had happened. He was about to write her a message when he heard a combadge chirp.

His eyebrow raised ‘What could that be at this time of the night?’ His question was answered when he heard Michael’s announcement for the senior staff. He knew the announcement had to be important for the Captain to disrupt the staff’s usual evenings. Ruvok quickly got his uniform on and made his way to the conference room.

(USS Tesla)

(Kra’vaak’s Quarters)

The day had been long and Kra’vaak was exhausted, but he wanted to make sure he was in great shape for an upcoming Bat’leth tournament. He had won many tournaments and had to keep the streak going he had just grabbed his Bat’leth when he heard the chirp. He sighed and activated it to hear Michael requesting his presence.

Kra’vaak had known Michael for a long time and knew there had to be a good reason for this unexpected meeting in the evening. He quickly composed himself and headed for the conference room already seeing many familiar faces. He nodded and waited to see what the Captain was wanting.

(USS Tesla)

(Sickbay)

Tahir had been hard at work with the yearly ship physicals and the information comprised in all of them. He had been working on them for the past few weeks and he was still lacking some crew. He was actually currently waiting for the next patient a new addition to the crew. Commander Peng the ship’s new Chief Science Officer. He watched as the new officer came through the doors and smiled.

“Hello Commander, I will try to make this as quick…” before he could finish the sentence he heard the chirp on his and Peng’s commbadge.. They both listened for the call of all senior staff and looked at each other before shrugging.

“Looks like the physical is going to have to wait Doc.” Peng said with a heavy accent.

Tahir smirked and nodded “Shall we?” he said motioning for Peng to go ahead.

Peng nodded and led the way he had just arrived on the Tesla and was not well acquainted with the ship or the crew for that matter. He hadn’t even met the Senior Officers yet. That was supposed to be tomorrow but looked like that was going to change. He walked into the room with the doctor on his heels and sit down with the doctor sitting next to him.

(USS Tesla)

(Officer’s Meeting Room)

Michael was pleased to see the quick response from the majority of the members of the Senior Staff. He knew his XO and a few others were off the ship with his approval. He would inform them as soon as they returned though he was sure they would hear the rumors upon arrival back.

He looked at the group and smiled “Before I say anything I want to welcome Commander Xiao Peng, the ship’s new Chief Science Officer, and Second Officer, and not a moment too soon.”

The looks from around the table were humorous to Michael. He keyed the screen and saw their eyes widen. “This is the USS Neptune and we have been asked to transfer to her. She is state-of-the-art and the newest variant in the fleet. We will begin the transfer immediately. I want you to begin getting your departments ready for the transfer. I will get you more information when I get it. I suggest you go get some rest the next few weeks will be busy for us.”

Ruvok nodded at the information and knew he needed to let Sumiko know about the exciting change. He nodded at the Captain and departed back to his quarters. He needed to message Sumiko, but he wanted sleep currently. So that was his decided course of action.

Amanda about passed out she had not expected such news to be announced. She had seen the Vesta classes specs and wanted to test her abilities and now she would have the chance to do just that. She knew the Captain wasn’t wanting questions so she made a mental note of what she would have to ask him when the time came. She nodded to the other staff bidding them goodnight and proceeded back to her quarters.

Kra’vaak just smiled and pounded the table which Michael just shook his head at. The information was not expected, but a ship that big would have to have an office for Kra’vaak, and for that he was excited. He knew that was a weird thing to be excited for, but that was his current feelings. He looked at the other members still in the room and could tell they were surprised. He looked at them “Best meeting in a while eh?” he said with a booming laugh. He stood up and walked out of the room heading for the gym to practice for the tournament.

Tahir and Peng looked at each other in utter disbelief being the two on the ship who was the newest the information was not expected as they had not even figured out the Tesla yet, but all things considered, it was best now they would learn on one ship and it would be the main one for them. They smiled at the captain with Peng shaking his hand before the two departed chatting amongst themselves.

Michael smiled and headed back to his quarters there was someone he needed to message and they needed to know before anyone else. That was the man who had taught him everything he knew to be in command, James Preston McCallister. He knew it was late, but he hoped that James was up.

He activated the call and waited with bated breath to see if he would answer. The call had to go through many of the Federation’s deep subspace relay stations and then through the hyper-subspace relays deployed into the Delta Quadrant for McCallister’s ship to pick the call. Eventually, it went through and the image of Captain James Preston McCallister sitting in his ready room on the USS Odyssey appeared.

“Captain Ryder, to what do I owe the pleasure?” McCallister said with a smirk before he picked up what appeared to be a mug with a hot beverage in it. Most likely tea.

“I have some good news and some somewhat shocking news. I was asked to take command of the USS Neptune.” He said with a glint of excitement.

“Congratulations Michael, who would have thought all that time ago that one of my senior cadets would be taking command of their second command so quickly. What do you know about the Neptune?” McCallister wondered.

Ryder shook his head “I know absolutely nothing about the ship.”

Chuckling at that answer, McCallister shook his head that his former star pupil had yet to look into his new command. “That’s not quite the adage you want to have going in Michael.” McCallister advised. “What about the crew? Do you know any of them?”

Michael nodded “I mean I only know the little bit of information I’ve researched, but a lot of the information is not openly accessed. I do know the crew because the Tesla crew in transferring to the ship with me.”

“Well that seems fortunate.” McCallister remarked. “I hate to rush our call, but we’re in the Delta Quadrant and I’m about to lead a shuttlecraft mission in exploring an uncharted nebula. Was there anything specifically you needed from me?”

Michael suppressed a frown. It wasn’t like McCallister to rush, but he understood and shook his head. “Nothing else, Sir just wanted for you to hear the news. I’d love for you to come visit once I’m settled.”

“Once we’re back in your neck of the woods let’s organise something. Good luck and well done. Odyssey out.” McCallister stated before closing the channel.

Michael smiled as the call ended before he got ready to head to bed and prepare for the next day.

Old Flames Part 2

USS Neptune
2399

(USS Neptune)

(Ryders Personal Quarters, 20:00)

Michael had tried to fall asleep early, but he was tossing and turning as the sweat rolled down his face. He had been thinking about what had happened a few weeks prior with Felicity. Even after what happened everynight she was on his mind. He couldn’t sleep most nights because he was thinking of her. He had tried to get her out of his head on multiple occasions, but it was to no avail.

He sat up and looked out the window seeing the starts stream by as the ship headed back to Starbase Bravo for returns. He put on his robe and shuffled slowly from his bedroom. He looked at the time and blinked ‘This is ridiculous. I need sleep.’ He thought to himself as he looked and eyed the bottle of whiskey on the stand. He shook his head and saw a message on his PADD. He opened it to see a message from his wife.

Michael,

I have been thinking and I feel that I have been very distant to you lately. I have fought you more than I should’ve and I have spent little to no time with you. I heard you were coming back to Starbase Bravo. I am planning to spend time with you.

Your Love.

Michael clenched a fist as anger overtook him. She always tried to smooth things over and he was tired of her façade it would be back to the same in a few weeks. Michael had been struggling on what to do. In one respect he loved his wife, but in the most harsh way possible Felicity had stolen his heart long ago. She had always held his heart though he never admitted it till a few weeks ago when he was drunk.

He wasn’t drunk now and he was quite sure of his feelings for Felicity. He closed the message out from his wife and pulled up the messages between him and Felicity. He smiled because she had made him feel happy for the first time in a long time. He didn’t want to admit it though because he felt he needed to make it seem like things were ok with his wife. He knew they weren’t and he knew they never would be again. She had already pushed him away for far too long. He wanted to talk to Felicity.

He paused for a second and shrugged before opening a new message.

Hey Lic,

I know it’s late, but I was wondering if you wanted to come to my quarters and talk. I can’t sleep if not that’s ok I understand.

Mike

(Felicity’s Quarters)

Felicity had finished a long day at the Brewhouse and was winding down. The day had been so busy she had forgot she was supposed to talk to her mom. She felt bad, but after sending her mom a message she felt better. Her parents were understanding, especially knowing her profession.

She walked into her bedroom and looked at the nightstand seeing a picture she hadn’t admitted she had. It was her and Michael at his birthday celebration at the bar. She smiled before proceeding to take a sonic shower. She began to roll back yet again through the many memories she had with him. She had one thing she hadn’t told him and wasn’t quite sure how she could tell him. It wasn’t something she had admitted to anyone, but Michael needed to know. She got out of the shower and put on some clothes.

The warmth of the clothing hitting her skin she sighed and went to pour a glass of whiskey when she saw her PADD lit up. She looked at the message and smiled. With a small solitary reply she said she would be there. She decided she should dress in something a little different so she threw on a tank top and a pair of loose jogging pants.

She grabbed a bottle of Michaels favorite and headed for his quarters with a smile on her face.

(Ryders Personal Quarters)

Michael had changed into some more comfortable clothes before seeing the acknowledgment from Felicity and he smiled. A warm feeling came over him, which was not something he felt when his wife was around. He was just sitting back down when he heard a chime. “Come.” He said.

Felicity entered the room and gave Michael a kiss but paused “Was that too forward?”

“After what happened a few weeks ago I don’t think so.” He said as he kissed her back and offered her a seat. He had been wondering how their next interaction would start and it was just as he supposed. He eyed the bottle and pointed “Is that for me?“

Felicity nodded “Only if you want some.” She said with a laugh. She grabbed two glasses and poured one for her as well as for Michael. She took a sip and felt the warm feeling as the drink went down her throat. The feeling was something she was used to, but she loved it.

Michael took the glass and drank the whole thing in one sip before sitting the glass back down.

“You ok Mike?” Felicity said as she noticed how quickly he drank the glass.

Michael sighed “Not really.” He tossed the message from his wife to her. “I got this today and I’m frankly tired of this song and dance crap she gives me. I never feel happy anymore, not around her at least.” He pushed before continuing thinking of his words carefully “You however…since coming back into my life I’ve felt happier than ever before. I don’t know why I made the worst mistake and let you go when I did.”

Felicity blushed at the comment “Mike I never told you, but it broke my heart when you refused me, but I could never stop loving you.” She stopped taking another sip of her drink “In fact I never dated anyone else because my heart has always been yours.”

Michael smiled “Lic you’ve never left my head all these years, but there is something I can’t remember. Didn’t we have a few intimate nights when I was at the Academy.”

Felicity paused and she knew she had to tell him “We did in fact more than a few…there’s something I never told you.”

Michael wondered what she meant “What’s wrong Lic?”

Felicity paused and grabbed Michaels hands looking in his eyes “You promise not to get mad?”

Michael nodded “I’m sure there’s no way I’d be mad.”

Felicity doubted that statement “Well we had a lot of amazing times together, but after you left I found out I was pregnant. I had never been with anyone else so I knew you were the father. So I guess the news I have for you is that you have a daughter.”

Michael paused and time seemed to pause as he tried to fully process the information. He knew he had spent a lot with Felicity, but he couldn’t recall such a thing. He wasn’t mad nor was he mad at her for some reason he was elated with joy. He had never been able to have a child with his wife and he had always wanted a child. He stood up and looked Felicity straight in the eyes before kissing her with the most passionate kiss he had ever given.

Felicity stopped and looked at him “You reacted better than I thought you would.”

Michael smiled “Though I am surprised and somewhat shocked this news is something I never thought I would hear. What’s she look like? What’s her name? How old is she?”

Felicity pulled up a picture of their daughter and handed it to Michael before proceeding to answer his questions. “Her name is Mary and she’s 24 years old. She’s perfect and she wants to meet you. I just never knew how to tell you.”

Michael’s eyes widened “She’s 24 years old? Where is she currently?”

Felicity looked down “I know I should’ve told you sooner. She is currently on Earth. I could arrange for her to come here to the Neptune or you could.”

Michael nodded “Yes, but we will have to be careful don’t want to spread all this around so soon. Especially with you know who still being around.”

He looked at Felicity “I’ve made my decision I’m going to divorce her. I want to spend the rest of my time with you.”

He held her hand and kissed her again. “Since you’re here, do you want to spend the evening here?”

Felicity paused for a minute “I really shouldn’t, but…” before she could say more Micheal kissed her like he had never done before. She wrapped her arms around him. There was no moment better than this.

He looked at her “With you in my life there’s nothing better except maybe learning I have a daughter.”

Felicity led Michael into his room and felt loved by him like never before.

The next morning Michael woke up and looked again at the picture of his daughter. Longingly wanting to meet her he decided to try and contact her. He looked for her information before finding the way to contact her. He dressed himself leaving Felicity to sleep. He brushed her hair and gave her a kiss before going to his desk. He opened the comm and waited as the line rang.

(Marys Apartment)

The day had been long and Mary was exhausted; she had been helping design a new propulsion system for Starfleet. She was a freelance engineer, but very smart from the accounts of others. She had just gotten back to the apartment and settled in when she heard a ring for her comm device. She smiled and saw it was from the Neptune, but the name was someone she had only ever heard of from her mom.

It was her dad…she was shocked she wasn’t prepared for this. She paused for a minute and she couldn’t decide what to do. She decided to take a chance and answered. She took a deep breath as her dad’s face appeared. She was shocked she had finally seen him.

Michael was speechless. She was beautiful “Mary?” He said.

She nodded, not being able to speak a word for a moment. She couldn’t think of what else to say “Dad?”

Michael smiled “Mary I don’t know where to start. Do you want to come to the ship? I want to meet you in person.”

Mary looked and smiled “That sounds like an amazing idea. I have always wanted to see a Vesta class, but never had the chance.”

Michael stopped for a second “What do you do Mary?”

“Oh I am a propulsion engineer. Might be able to make the Neptune even better.” She chuckled.

She felt comfortable talking to him even though she barely knew him. He was great and she was so excited to finally meet him.

Felicity got up from the bed hearing Michael talking. She dressed and made her way into the room to see Michael talking to Mary. Her eyes widened as she had not expected Mary to answer her dad. She came up behind Michael and wrapped her arms around him. “Hi Mary darling.”

Mary looked surprised “Hi mom! I’m planning on coming to visit the Neptune soon. Just need to know when she’s at Earth next.”

Michael looked at Felicity than at Mary it was weird all that had transpired, but he felt like he had a family and that for him made the past few months bearable. He looked back at Mary “We should be back at Earth in the next few weeks.”

Mary smiled and nodded “I will make sure to take the time. Can’t wait to actually meet you in person dad. I’d stay and talk but I need to get some rest.”

Michael nodded “It’s ok Mary.”

Mary smiled “Love you…dad.”

Michael paused “I love you as well Mary.”

The call ended and Michael looked at Felicity “I didn’t expect that. I’m super happy though. I love you Lic.”

Mary's Apartment, Earth
January 2400

Mary had not been able to shake meeting her father out of her head, in fact she had been so excited to meet him that sleep had eluded her for weeks. She realized that she needed to sleep and was attempting to do just that, but it never worked, as every time she shut her eyes she thought of her father. Mary knew little about him because Felicity didn’t want her to inadvertently meet him before he knew she existed. Mary had tried to discover information about her while she was younger, but most of that information was locked behind records she had no access too.

Mary was not one to do something that could be considered illegal, but she was going to do something that could get her and her friend in trouble if she couldn’t get any information soon. She was tired of not knowing the information she had longed to know. She knew she could just ask her father, but it seemed like it would be better if she took the time to learn about him before she actually met him in person. She had some access to Starfleet records with her job, but she doubted that she could access her fathers records. She shrugged ‘What do I have to lose?’

She sat down at her personal computer terminal and input the information to access the records she had access too. She began to slowly and methodically go through the process of records. It wasn’t her normal job, but she was good at it and sometimes could get where she needed. She realized she would not be able to get her fathers information by just asking for it. She was a freelance engineer not an Admiral in Starfleet. She chuckled at the notion of that and mocked giving an order like an Admiral would before she started laughing again. She regained her composure and went back to her work.

(Three Hours Later)

Mary had no success in finding information regarding her father minus a few mentions about his Academy track wins. She stopped and sighed in frustration most people wouldn’t care so much to try and find information out about their father, but she was different. She loved her dad even though she barely knew him. Her friends had thought her crazy, but she didn’t mind because she knew how she felt. She finally decided it was time to initiate her plan.

She activated the comm link and waited for an answer, which came quickly in front of her was a shadowy figure. She rolled her eyes “Stop trying to act all mysterious Tom. I know who you’re and the whole covert act doesn’t work with me.”

The figure sighed and got closer “Come on Mary! Can’t you just indulge me once and awhile.”

She shook her head “I love you, but no because its ridiculous.”

Tom frowned “I mean you know I am in Intelligence right? So is it really that ridiculous?”

Mary took a sip of her drink and sighed “Ok, 007.” She chuckled at him.

Tom looked back proudly “Call me Bond, Tom Bond.” He said with a hint of a British accent.

Mary had been taking a drink and almost spit it up all over her desk “I was taking a drink you ass.”

Tom winked “You know how I like it when your mouth is full of something.” He laughed hysterically and put his hands up “I’m sorry too much?”

Mary sighed he was insufferable, but she loved him anyways. “You know sometimes I don’t know why I fell in love with you, but I did. Now can we get to the matter at hand?”

Tom looked at her and nodded “I am not sure why you couldn’t find the information, but here is all the information that could be found about your dad.” He said as he transferred the information to her location. She looked to see that she had received it and smiled “Thanks Tom, I hope you don’t get in trouble for this.”

Tom laughed “I don’t think it’s as big a deal as you think, but of something happens to me… it was worth it to see the smile on your face.”

Mary smiled and looked at him “I don’t deserve you.”

Tom smirked “I know. I love you Mary. I’d love to chat longer, but duty calls.”

Mary nodded “I love you too. Have a good day and thanks again.”

The screen went black and Mary sat there for a minute with a smile as she remembered how she had met Tom. She refocused because she had something else to be doing right now. She opened the record of her Dad and saw a picture of him when he was young. This was the fist time she had seen any information about him. She grabbed her coffee from the table and went to snuggle on the couch as she read.

She was surprised to find out just how much her father had done over his tenure in Starfleet each position adding more flair to the last. His achievements and awards alone were something she couldn’t believe. Her dad was a through and through model officer and just as amazing as her mom had told her the few times she had brought him up. She had went to the bar her mother owned and found a spot at one of the table with her parents names on the wall. She had so much to learn about her dad that the records wouldn’t show, but with his position he had to be busy and she didn’t want to bother him. She would be meeting him soon enough.

She had been told by so many people she should be bitter about her father her only question was why. Why should she be bitter about something that wasn’t in her control. Could she have called her dad and told him? Yes, but that would have made things worse in the end and she didn’t want that feeling of guilt on her. She was happy with how things were and couldn’t wait for what else was in store.

Old Flames Part 3

Scarlet Fire Brewhouse
February 25th 2400

(WARNING: Read At Your Own Risk. Could Be Traumatic For Some)

Felicity had been hard at work, as the usual business of the bar changed with each shift. She had hired some help to make sure that people were happy and the reputation of the bar stayed high. Felicity still talked to almost every person that came into the bar making sure to have that connection as the crew sometimes were away from home for month’s even years. Felicity had been trying to convince Mary to come to join the ship in some regard, but that hadn’t worked yet. Mary kept saying she was going to find a position near her apartment, but every time it seems something was going to open it didn’t happen. As to Felicity and Michael that was a story she had never expected to reopen. Michael had opened up to her about many things that had happened over the years including the treatment from his wife. In every conversation, Felicity could tell he was not happy anymore.

She had suggested that he just divorce her, but Michael couldn’t bring himself to do it due to how busy his life had been and the transfer to the Neptune all excuses and Michael knew it, but he wouldn’t admit it. Felicity was a comfort to him and he had admitted that she knew he wanted to be with her, but felt obligated to do things the right way. As her mind wandered Michael walked into the bar with a smile on his face. After the two of them started talking regularly his demeanor had improved significantly. She smiled back at him and motioned him to the seat at the bar in front of her.

Michael nodded and made his way to the seat. His shift had ended though the Captain’s shift never truly ended, he was hungry and Felicity had the best food on the ship, at least that was his opinion. It could have been that he just liked her company, but he was going to agree to disagree on why he felt the food was best. Felicity’s smile warmed him every time he saw it no matter the situation she seemed to be the one thing that felt normal in his life and for that he was grateful that he had walked into the bar that night a few months ago. “Looks like this place is pretty busy Lic.” he said as he finally sat down.

She nodded “It has been especially with this free time you have given the crew the past few days. People seem to love it here and the Trident lounge, but then again I don’t have lounge singers in here.” She smirked. “I think just some light ambiance is all you need though that’s not to say I don’t enjoy going to the lounge.” She winked at him hoping he had caught the hint.

He nodded “I know I know we need to go to the lounge I think tonight would be the time to do it. That is if you close at your regular time tonight and don’t stay open later than your supposed to.” He said poking fun at her. Felicity had a habit of staying open just so others could come in and relax later in the evening, especially those who have nothing else to do.

“I will be closing the regular time, especially if you’re taking me on a date.” She said with a smirk and a bat of the eyes at him. She laughed and regained her composure “Would you like something to eat or drink?” she asked in the most sarcastic manner she could muster.

Michael shook his head “Why would I want food from here? The service is detestable, though the view is better than anything I can think of.” He said with a wink at Felicity. Her face turned bright red from the comment.

“Stop your making me blush at work.” she said now even more aware of her surroundings.

“Oh we can’t have that now can we?” He smirked pushing just a little more. It was all in good fun and he knew Felicity was not going to be mad, even if she wouldn’t admit it she liked it. Felicity had put up with his antics for months now and just to feel a bit younger he did things just to make sure he kept her on her toes. She had been the crack of light in his world he didn’t know he needed, but he was so thankful for her and he could never express that to her, or could he?

Felicity rolled her eyes at the remark knowing Mike was joking she replicated his favorite and set it down in front of him. He grinned “See even with my sarcasm and jokes you still know what I like. Well you know more than that.” he winked again causing her to blush once more. The laughter between the two of them wasn’t even acknowledged by the members of the bar. Mike ate his food making some small conversation with Felicity who was still tending the bar and talking to him and the other patrons.

(Trident Lounge)

After a slight delay, Felicity and Michael made their way into the lounge wearing the appropriate attire and grabbing a seat near the stage. The lounge was the talk of the ship and not something most ships had. Michael was hard on his crew, but he tried to keep morale high and that was what the lounge did. The show was going to start soon, but Michael saw the main lounge singer approach him.

Paloma had a habit of going and seeing the patrons of her show before the show started and tonight was no different except she saw the face of the Captain, which was a rare treat. She went over and greeted the Captain and his guest whom she was sure she had heard about. “Captain, what a pleasure to see you tonight and your guest as well.” She said in the normal floaty demeanor she gave.

Felicity smiled “The name is Felicity it is nice to meet you Ms.?”

“The name is Paloma Gomez the Tridents main attraction so to speak. Your reputation proceeds you being the most prominent bar owner I have ever heard about. Even when patrons come here they mention your place” She chuckled.

“A pleasure to meet you, Paloma. I am sure your show will be great.” Felicity said reassuringly.

Paloma smiled “Thank you for the kind words! I would love to talk longer, but I need to get back and prepped for the show. Captain, again a pleasure to see you tonight. Felicity, I am sure we will meet sometime in the future. I may have to come to check out your bar.” She said with a wink before she walked towards the area backstage.

Felicity looked at Michael and smiled “Thanks for bringing me, Mikey.” She said as she inched closer to him feeling the warmth of his body was comforting to her.

Michael looked over and squeezed her hand “For you Lic I would give the world.”

She smiled back and settled in as the lights dimmed and the show started. The show was spectacular and now she knew why the lounge was so popular. It wasn’t just relaxing, but Paloma had a way about her that made the show exciting and kept the audience on edge. After a rather embarrassing moment for Michael the show went off perfect and just the way he had wanted it to for Felicity.

(Timeskip)

The night before was great and Michael couldn’t have remembered the last time he had so much fun. He looked over and next to him was Felicity with her arm around him. As he began to wake up he looked to see they were in his quarters, which was not the normal turn of events. He tried to remember what happened the night before but then looked at the nightstand seeing the bottle of Whiskey and two glasses, which helped him remember why he couldn’t remember. An ironic thing that, but something he dealt with nonetheless. He pulled Felicity closer and laid there not wanting to wake her up from her peaceful slumber.

Sophie had arrived back on the ship eager to talk to Michael he had been quiet lately and she wasn’t sure why. They had been fighting here and there, which was her fault. She hadn’t been on the Neptune since Michael had received it, but she could tell it was quite a ship. She had left Starfleet to liaison for the Federation as a linguist. It had been almost six months since she had last seen Michael and knew it was a long time to be away.

She made her way through the corridors of the ship trying to find Michael’s cabin. As she walked by crew members she could see them looking at her and whispering. She wasn’t sure what was up, but she knew she would get to the bottom of it. After a reluctant member told her where Michael’s room was she stormed there. As the doors opened she saw the quarters unusually clean with a faint scent she did not recognize. She put her bags down and took a deep breath it was time to finally see him. She walked to the bedroom entrance and saw Michael in bed with someone else. Her heart broke as she looked closer she recognized the person with Michael. She stepped in where Michael could see her and screamed “WHAT IS THIS?”

Michael jumped at the scream and looked over to see Sophie in the doorway. The scream jolted Felicity awake and she looked over to see Sophie there, in a way she was relieved, but in another way she knew this was going to be a problem. She looked at Michael who sit there with a look of calmness on his face.

“It is exactly what you see Sophie.” He said coldly with no emotion in his voice. After six months of dealing with her lies and abuse, he was over it and he didn’t care.

“Michael, but why?” She said as tears streamed down her face “I have been nothing, but good to you.” She said as she slumped over, looking defeated.

“EXCUSE ME?” He said with apparent anger in his voice “Nothing but good to me…you know that’s a load of crap Sophie. You have done nothing but berate me and talk down to me. You were mad I got this command, but you make it seem ok to everyone else, you tell me I am the problem when I always poured everything into our relationship. Do you have the audacity to say it’s me? You are the one who brought this on yourself. I am done dealing with the lies, the deceit, and the pain I have felt for so long.” He said seething as the events had finally come to a head.

Felicity felt like she needed to leave, but with Sophie in front of the door and Michael still, beside her, she was conflicted. She knew everything that Sophie had put Michael through after he had opened up to her one night. He still had made excuses about breaking up with her, but she felt this was it. “I think I should go.” She said as calmly as she could muster.

Sophie looked at her with daggers in her eyes “Yes, go you, traitor.”

Michael stopped Felicity “No if anyone is going to leave it will be you, Sophie. I had been putting it off and putting it off, but this was the final straw, especially when you come in and act like the innocent one when you have been the one who has been the problem for so long. I am done, Sophie…I am done dealing with it all. This is it we are through and that’s final.” He said with no remorse in his voice.

Sophie stood there still crying and looked at the floor “I know I have been the problem and I am sorry for the way I have acted, but I am willing to work on myself and was going to tell you that. Why would you do this to me? Why not talk to me first?” She said as she continued to cry.

Michael looked at her for a moment and shook his head “You still think that after all you did I would be so open to forgive you. It doesn’t work that way and you know it.” He looked over at Felicity who had stayed quiet this whole time and pulled her close “I don’t think we were ever supposed to be together Sophie. I always loved Felicity and that hasn’t changed. I also guess you should know that I have a daughter with Felicity. When you were being the controlling person from the beginning at the Academy the two of us got together and it happened. I don’t love you anymore Sophie…for a time I did and I figured you would be part of my life forever, but then you changed and I could never figure it out until someone else figured it out and told me.”

He pulled a PADD off his table and opened the pictures of Sophie with another man. “Would you care to explain this?”

Sophie had a look of horror on her face as she didn’t expect to see those photos “I uh…I know them from work.”

Michael gave her a flat look and scrolled to another picture “So you kiss someone you work with that intimate? Ok, sure Sophie I believe that about as much as I believe you want to change. These pictures were taken on multiple occasions for the past few years and you knew what you were doing from the beginning. You need some serious help if you believe that I would also love you when you have been cheating on me for years.”

Sophie looked at Michael and looked away from him the shame of what she had been hiding finally being discovered. She had tried to hide things for so long and in that time she had begun to push Michael away. She realized that she didn’t love the other person, but loved Michael so she had cut things off with them a few weeks ago. “I…I ended things with them a few weeks ago…I wanted to be with you and only you…I wanted to fix the mistake I made.” She said as tears again trickled down her face.

Felicity was still there silently feeling awkward, but when she heard Sophie had been cheating on Michael she looked beyond surprised. She looked at Michael “Who told you about that?” She said trying to make sense of the situation.

Michael looked over at Felicity and mouthed the word “Mary” before looking back at Sophie “Well, you should have thought about that months ago when you stopped talking to me. I knew about this but was giving you a chance. You have no one to blame but yourself. Now get your bags and leave we will finalize things as soon as possible. In the meantime I suggest you either take the temporary quarters on the ship or leave, but this is it, Sophie. I am done.” He said as he put his arm around Felicity.

Sophie nodded slightly and turned to leave, feeling defeated over the whole situation. They both had hidden their secrets, but hers had been for so long and now she had lost the only person she had ever loved. As she walked out of the room her heart shattered knowing this was the end for her and Michael.

Michael looked over at Felicity who was still in shock “Well I did it, Lic.”

Felicity looked over at him trying to determine how to react. This was one of the weirdest events she had ever encountered, but Michael had done what he had promised for so long to her. She looked at him and nodded slightly “You did…I didn’t think you would do it with me here.” She said as she sit there for a moment.

Michael nodded “Well, I knew you needed to know the full truth if our relationship was to work. This was a weird situation and I didn’t expect it to happen like this, but it is over.” He pulled Felicity close and looked into her eyes longingly “I love you Felicity and I always have.”

A tear of joy trickled down her face “I love you too Michael and though this was not the way I figured it would happen I am so happy you have always felt the same about me as I have you.” She said as they gave each other a passionate kiss before getting up and dressed preparing for the day ahead. Things were different now, but a different both of them had wanted for so long.

A Game of Cat and Mouse Part 1

Michelle’s Base, Diitov
August 27th, 2399

Diitov was a pleasant location mostly because it was quiet and Michelle had the whole planet pretty much to herself. She had decided to come up to the surface for a bit. She was there in the sand just thinking life had not gone how she had expected, but that seemed to be normal for anyone she knew. She began to think back to when she and Michael were friends and the good times they had shared, as she thought about it a smile started to form. She immediately pushed those thoughts out of her head and began to remember what he had done and there it returned the fire in her eyes. Michael was going to pay for what he did, but first, there were other plans that needed to be enacted.

She had ordered for Ajis’s prize to be brought back to the base and to not be followed. She looked up to see the ship being towed into the atmosphere. She heard a voice come through on her earpiece.

Overlord this is Falcon we are on approach with the package you requested.

An evil smile formed on her lips as she knew things were finally shaping up. It was time to do the much-needed refit for the weapon that would be causing many problems for the crew of the Tesla. She pressed a button on her wrist pad and the beach began to rumble as a hole opened up to reveal a landing pad. On the pad stood the eager Ajis waiting for his prize. She looked over at him and nodded.

Ajis had been in the bay finishing up the final touches to the deck plans for his ship when he got the notification that a vessel was entering the atmosphere. When he accessed the visual sensors, he saw what was coming through the clouds and a smile formed. Now he was on the landing pad, looking up at the relic and watched as it was brought closer to the landing pad. He felt someone was looking at him, so he moved his head till he saw her and simply nodded his head right back before looking back up at the old romulan bird of prey.

With the relic coming closer to the landing pad, he had instructed the recovery team to install some power packs so that the landing sensors would detect the pad and begin to deploy the landing legs. Ajis would then see that his instructions were followed as the relics landing gear deployed into position before being gently set down onto the landing pad. Ajis pressed the com button on his wrist, “You’re good!” And he watched his ship be released, prompting him to hit the button that would have the landing pad start descending into the bay. “All right. We’re going to have to replace the hull plating with the latest and standard of the 24th Century. Or we could reinforce the hull plating with good ol’ hull polarization systems in case the shields were ever to fail. Then…” Ajis began to explain the next few steps, replacing the power grid, relays, removing equipment, etc.

With all the help from Angel, the work was going a lot faster than any shipyard that Ajis could think of. What could have taken well over a month to do, was taking about a week since Angel didn’t have to sleep and Ajis contributed to that by sleeping a minimum of four hours a day. He knew how important his ship was going to be for his new boss and for the things that they were most definitely going to end up pulling off, so he wanted to waste no time screwing around when he could be getting his ship reborn. Plus, he’s read about how the Humans used to take old non automobiles and enjoyed putting all the time, sweat and blood into restoring those automobiles. This was the same feeling for him, restoring an old vessel from the 2260s. He knew two others of this type survived up until the 2380s but this was definitely not one of them.

So the week went by and Ajis was just applying the final touches while Angel was calibrating and adjusting various systems for maximum efficiency. “All right then, are we good at bringing the singularity core online?”

Michelle was fuming she had just found out that Michael and the crew of the Tesla was transferred to a bigger ship and one that was considered the best of the best, the new Vesta class. She had to accelerate the time table and began following the ship. She quickly made her way from her office to the area where Ajis had been working to bring his ship back to life from the dead.

The halls bathed in the same light was somewhat darker, but that could just be because of her mood. She stormed into the bay and looked for Ajis, after not finding him she yelled. “Ajis stop tinkering with your ship and come here immediately.”

The mood of Oliver was obviously known by the others in the bay, because of the sudden quiet and look of dread on their face.

Ajis blinked when he heard her voice through the intercom and then saw the look on Angel’s face, or in this case, on several of them. “Wonder what got on her bad side.” He stepped away from the main terminal in engineering and headed on down for the ramp. “Whatever it is, I trust that the rest of you can get her systems running.”

She waited tapping her foot impatiently as he quickly made his way to her side.

Ajis came down from the ramp, where he could see her standing there, tapping her foot away. “Tap any harder and there will be a dent in the floor.” He joked, hoping to ease the tension.

She glared at him for the remark, it was not a good time to be joking around with her “I bet you think your funny Ajis…well it’s not the proper time. I just discovered that Michael and his crew were given command of a new ship, a Vesta class, USS Neptune. Do you still think your ship could keep up with a vessel like that? If not, we need a new plan and fast because I am tired of sitting around and waiting. It seems that every turn has just added more difficulty to this plan and now they have the most advanced ship in Starfleet.”

Ajis sighed, now understanding where her frustration was coming from. He stroked his chin as he went into thought. He then snapped his fingers, “Angel, be a dear and give me the latest diagnostic results on the Falcon. And give me a side by side comparison with this latest Vesta, if you don’t have it then give me any Vesta in your database.” Ajis asked for and waited for Angel to appear with the data.

While he waited, he looked at Oliver. “I do apologize for the unfortunate wait, but you knew that we had to do a complete overhaul if we wanted this ship to work. If you wanted to strike right away, we could have just bought a ship. Or stole one.” He confessed while still patiently waiting for Angel’s return. “But the Falcon should be ready to go soon. The singularity core should be online and all that’s left is making sure all systems were installed properly. But after spending time with your amazing AI here, I have zero doubts. The Falcon will be ready.”

Angel then appeared beside them and up came a holographic display showing a Vesta, whether it was the latest or not, and the Falcon. Ajis tapped his chin. “Hmmm. Speed shouldn’t be a problem, especially if we used both auxiliary generators to boost efficiency of the warp engines, which will let us catch up to the Neptune…that’s if they are at maximum warp. So unless they are answering some sort of crisis, I don’t think we will have a problem. But even with the best cloaking device in the galaxy, if we push our engines beyond their limit, the cloak may not be able to keep us concealed perfectly, something will escape the cloaking field.” Ajis tapped his chin some more. “I suppose we won’t be able to get a full structural analysis on the Neptune before we engage it. Such a process takes time, especially if we want to find any kind of weakness to the ship.”

Ajis clapped his hands together. “Honestly, it would fall right down to the basics. Take out the shields, main power and auxiliary power, and the Neptune will hardly be a match for the Falcon. But we need to knock all three out in one salvo. If any of those three are still functioning, the Falcon will have a hard time fighting a vessel like this. We would have to rely on the cloak, and that’s as long as they don’t figure out how to track us.” Ajis stared at the data a bit more before looking at Oliver. “Does this news make you feel better?”

Michelle didn’t look convinced “How would it make me feel better to know the Neptune could still discover us. We have to find out more information about the Neptune before we dare try to engage with the ship. I do not want the Neptune to survive this.” She looked at the diagrams “Angel contact Sparrow and have them follow the Neptune.”

“Yes, Ma’am.” Angel replied, as she disappeared to complete the task given to her.

“Alright, Ajis let’s go look at the inside of your ship and determine the exact plans for its refit.” She said looking at her new compadre.

“Technically everything is done already. I pushed the limits of this base, probably hardly a push at all, to see how many worker like holograms I could get online and after that, ever since the ship was brought here, we spent best part of the week getting it ready. Just waiting on Angel to finish the latest diagnostics.” Speaking of the devil, Angel appeared and brought up a display for him. “Well look at that. The entire board is green. Falcon is ready to fly.”

Michelle looked at Ajis “I see you messed with Angel, which is prohibited by anyone other than me. I told you that you could use her, but not like that.” She said her voice as cold as it could have been. Ajis had been pushing it and he was starting to push a little more than she liked.

“I don’t mind you using my stuff, but in this case I don’t appreciate you using Angel that way. We can drop the matter. If the Falcon is ready shall we go do some silent observation?”

Ajis raised his brows. “Oh no. Think you misunderstood. I used what workers and holograms you had to get this baby ready as quickly as possible. I mean, you already had all the equipment, plus the manpower. Really just came down to time. But yes, we can absolutely do some observation.” He smiled at the end and showed her the way inside up the ramp and all the way to the bridge.

What’s Treason When Your Well Compensated For It

Oliver’s Office (The Hub), Crimson Installation, Diitov
September 1st, 2399

It seemed quieter in the installation than usual though none of the staff or ‘guest‘ questioned the eerie silence. Michelle was known to be a bit of an eccentric and what she wanted was the law. The installation was of course hidden deep under the waters of Diitov, but if anyone knew the scale of Michelle’s enterprise, they would usually not even try to cross her. She not only had enough secrets on this planet to keep her safe, but many agents and locations throughout the galaxy. If she wanted something done all that was needed was her name to be uttered, though she saved that for the most special occasions. She held a grip over her enterprise, and it was time to put some of her skills to more use.

Michelle quickly strode through the corridors of the installation, the dark red lights seeming more sinister as she strode by. She took no time making it to her private office, one that not many of anybody had seen. The office was circular but in a huge scale, in most cases it just seemed inherently big, but it housed a few secrets. She smiled and pushed a button on her wrist PADD.

The shimmering image of Angel appeared in front of her. “Michelle, what can I do for you?”

Michelle clasped her hands and spoke smoothly “Initiate Epsilon Lockdown, isolate all systems and activate the hub.“

As the sentence was uttered an immediate alert trilled through the installation. One that the members knew well and never quested. Epsilon Lockdown meant that no one could use communications or be in any system that was deemed necessary by Michelle. This usually varied but if it was a system locked out a symbol would appear indicating so. In most cases this never impeded the work, but it was serious because everyone knew something was going on.

The hub was the room that Michelle stood in and transformed into a room full of screens and information with Michelle able to control it all from her wrist. She had built an empire that used technology, but she could still do a face-to-face meeting if necessary.

She slipped a comms device in her ear and tapped in a command on her wrist. Within seconds she heard a gruff voice “Yes, ma’am?”

“Prepare to go visit our friend it’s time we talked.“ She said as she looked at the screen in front of her giving her the information on the Neptune’s crew and compliment, which was helpful, but she needed more. She tapped in another command and a picture showed up on the screen to the left. It was the friend she had referred too.

“We’re in position and ready.” the voice came back.

“This isn’t an invasion, Percy. Cool your jets. Well, maybe it is, but regardless.” she said in a calming yet sinister tone.

This was something she had been thinking would work for a few weeks now. She had been trying to get information on the whereabouts of the Neptune, as it seemed to drop off the radar. She had tried all the contacts she had and none of them could find the information so now she was moving to Starfleet personnel. She had targeted a particular officer that had the access she needed and was about to make her move.

Apartment Complex, San Francisco

Percy was sitting outside the apartment complex watching for the target who had arrived only a few minutes prior. He activated the ear comm that was connected to Michelle “He is here and the teams are set Ma’am.” Percy, of course knew the teams were for contingency only, but there for the protection of Percy and his team.

“Proceed as instructed.” Oliver replied in a straightforward voice.

Percy motioned to his team members and they began to follow him into the complex. They made it to the apartment and Percy instructed his team to hang back unless ordered. He activated the door chime and waited for a reply. Only moments later the door opened revealing a man with a confused look on his face. “Can I help you?”

Percy smiled “Mr. Jameson, if you have a moment I would like to talk to you about an opportunity to better yourself. I am with the Angel Cooperation and our president wants to extend an offer to you. She can’t be here, but she wants to talk to you if you have a moment.” In most cases, Percy knew people would not be ok with such an interaction, but Michelle had picked someone she had evaluated would go for the plan. Jameson wanted better and felt inadequate in Starfleet, which was how Michelle got most of her help.

As a prior member of Starfleet she knew the way to influence people into a better life, which was what she offered.

Jameson nodded and let Percy in, looking around before he closed the door. Percy went and stood before Jameson offered him a seat. Percy knew that Michelle could see and hear everything going on, but he was used to it. She didn’t show her face in initial contact, as to not compromise herself.

Jameson looked over at Percy “So what is this offer?”

Percy smiled and placed a device on the table in front of Jameson and activated it. The device projected information regarding the position and opened a comm channel with Michelle.

“Good evening Mr. Jameson, I am Michelle the president of the Angel Cooperation, I have seen your exemplary work in Starfleet and want to extend an idea to you. I would like you to stay in Starfleet, but work for me as an informant. If I need information you will forward it to me or my associates if needed. You will of course be well compensated for this.”

Percy saw Jameson’s eyes grow wide at the suggestion before his reply came “What? I could never…That would be treason against Starfleet.”

A laugh could be heard over the comms “Treason is all in the eye of the beholder. I have all this to offer you.” The screen changed showing a huge list of things Michelle knew Jameson wanted. Replicators could do only so much and it helped to have resources which was what Michelle had. She was a criminal in most peoples eyes, but in her own she was an entrepreneur with a few secrets.

Jameson looked through the list and was shocked whoever this person was she had resources even better than Starfleet it seemed. Jameson couldn’t hurt himself to join this organization even if only to be a small part of it. “This is very interesting, but what can I do I am just a lowly analyst.”

“Being an analyst gives you more abilities than you could imagine. You have access to information most people don’t see and you’re not just any analyst I know you have access to certain projects and ships. Currently I am wanting to know the location of the USS Neptune.”

Jameson made a note of the name “Well you are suggesting I commit treason for an organization I pledged my life too, but they haven’t done anything to make me feel like I am cared about. I just sit at my desk and work with no recognition.” Jameson concluded making his decision. “Alright, I accept your offer, but if something happens am I guaranteed protection?”

Percy couldn’t help but smile it was a question he heard often and always the same answer.

“Percy give our new friend your parting gift.“ came the reply.

Percy pulled a device out of his jacket and handed it to Jameson. “This is a communications device and a contingency device all in one. If you have an immediate emergency you turn the cylinder counter clockwise and it will activate a signal for us. Otherwise it’s a comm device to contact the President. Only use it when alone or use this.“ He handed Jameson an earpiece.

Michelle was sure now that Jameson had joined her organization so now it was time to be truthful. “Jameson now that you have joined I can be truthful with you. I am Michelle Oliver or as most call me in my organization Overlord. I command people through the galaxy and have a huge network of information. I can move mountains if so desired and you’re now just a small part of that.”

Percy saw Jamison’s eyes widen when he heard the name. “Oliver you’re legend in Intelligence and one of the most looked for criminals in the galaxy. Starfleet has done everything to find you and nothing. Now I can see why because you have way more power than people understand.“

You could hear the laugh on the comms “You flatter me. I am who I am. It has been a pleasure Will. We will talk soon until than Percy will give you instruction.”

Jameson nodded and looked at Percy “So what now?”

Percy laughed “Find the information as requested and transmit it using this system.“ he said as he passed a PADD to Jameson. “Also you will find information for some compensation regarding your decision to join Ms. Oliver. Just know if you cross her it would be the biggest mistake you would ever make.“

Jameson nodded looking at the PADD seeing the compensation he realized he had made a good decision. He stood as Percy exited his apartment.

(Diitov)

Michelle had a pleased look on her face she had succeeded and quite easily. She hadn’t even pulled out the other side of offers. She would keep those for later. She pulled up the web of her organization and added Jameson to the list. This was the first step towards finding the Neptune and one of the many to continue towards its destruction. She hadn’t built her organization for just this, but it was the main goal currently and one she would achieve.

News That Was Thought To Never Come

Quantum Café, Earth
August 22, 2394

Michael had been given some leave from Jupiter Station and had taken the opportunity to go to earth. He needed to check on some family matters, but also to meet an old friend. The plan was to meet at the Quantum Cafe and that was precisely where Michael sat waiting. The smells of fresh food through his olfactory sense were making his stomach growl. ‘What is taking him so long? I am about to die from lack of food.’ Michael was about to give up and order something when the man walked in wearing a Captain’s uniform.

Michael stood with a smile and greeted him “Glad you made it Hank I am starving.” The man laughed heartedly “Sorry about that Michael, I was just in a briefing and got some news that we didn’t expect.” Hank stated as he sat down. Michael sat down and ordered a drink “What’s going on? If I have the ability to ask that.” He smirked slightly knowing that Hank was in the Intelligence branch of Starfleet. The two were interrupted by the waitress where they both ordered a bacon cheeseburger and some fries, a favorite for both of them. The meal came back quickly and they began to eat before the conversation resumed.

Hank looked around before he began to talk in a somewhat hushed tone “We just heard that Voyager is in the sol system.” Michaels’s eyes got wide and the whole room froze as if time had stopped. He took a minute to make again sure he had heard his old friend right. “Wait are you serious? Should you be here eating food with me or up in your office if that’s the case?” Hank laughed “You forget I have people to monitor things, plus I told them I would only be gone for a short time.”

Michael shook his head it was just like Hank to do something like that “Sometimes I am not sure how you made Captain.” He laughed “So this is huge news I am surprised more people here…” He couldn’t finish the sentence when a junior officer came in and yelled “VOYAGER IS BACK!” The entire room erupted in cheers and the majority of people left the café looking upwards trying to see the ship in the sky. Michael laughed as he hadn’t even finished his sentence and what he was saying happened. He looked at Hank and shook his head “Looks like its not a secret anymore. It may be time for you to get back to the office and make sure nothing crazy happens. It was good seeing you sorry our meeting got cut short by the news.”

Hank smiled “It was good to see you, Michael! As always we never seem to get longer than an hour to catch up.” He waved as the final part of the goodbye.

Michael pulled him in for a hug. “Well, this news warrants a disruption.” He let go of him and waved as Hank walked towards headquarters.

Never Tell Me The Odds

Sandy Location It's Coarse and Rough and Irritating and It's Getting Everywhere
May 4, 2400

Blade arrived at the surface of the planet and silently cursed under his breath. The Captain had said it was supposed to be a forest planet…this was not a forest planet. It was hot and miserable. He decided to look through his gear. The gear he had was not the gear he had packed ‘What is this shit!!!’ He pulled out the Mugato plushy and shook his head that was not going to be useful. “Is this the Captain’s thought of a practical joke?” He said though no one heard him. He shrugged and continued through the items at least he had a phaser and tricorder that worked. He was already mad so he decided to let the other items go for now.

He looked at his mission notes again. He was to recover an alternate power source that had been discovered to run things longer but take up less space. He strapped the bag to his back and began the trek through the sand combing for any sign of the source. He pulled out his tricorder and began to scan for the source, but the scan field wasn’t scanning in front of him. He tried to reboot the tricorder, but still no luck he looked closer the scan was facing to the left and only gave him a 6-meter distance at maximum. Blade took a deep breath and shook his head ‘This has to be a practical joke.’ He thought as he turned the tricorder to the right in his hand so it would then be facing straight.

After what had felt like days in the scorching suns turned out to be a few hours, he reached an unexpected change of scenery a petrified forest that began rising over the horizon as he inched closer. At first, he thought it was a mirage or he was delusional, but it was real. He stopped for a moment ‘This cannot be the forest I was looking for…’ He thought as he finally reached the forest. The forest was like an oasis upon reaching the top of a hill Blade saw what looked like a cave-like structure in the valley below. The broken tricorder was indicating a spike of full functionality, indicating the object was in the direction he was traveling. He made his way down the hill into the valley towards the cavelike structure.

He pulled out the phaser and turned it on seeing it had only 3% of power, but worse when he attempted to change the setting it was stuck at 1.75. ‘Of course, it doesn’t work either. What else could go wrong here?‘ He thought as he rolled his eyes emphatically. He slowly made his way down the path of the cave which began to bend down indicating he was going deeper underground. The air began to cool as he continued further down watching the reading of his broken tricorder. His neck was tired of turning to look at the readings. He froze in his tracks as he saw a torch ahead with sounds coming from the direction, though he wasn’t exactly able to make them out. He traveled further down and quickly dipped behind a formation when he saw a person in his path. Slowly peering he saw a person that appeared to be like a mummy from films of the past wrapped in sheets. Their faces were covered by what looked like breathing apparatuses. He began to panic thinking the air wasn’t healthy to breathe ‘Sure why not let us just add more problems to this day.’ His thought was interrupted when a noise resembling the sound of a pig echoed from the chambers behind him.

Oooo bacon sounds really good right now!’ He thought as his stomach began to gurgle. He decided it was time to eat so he pulled out some field rations and was sorely disappointed when he discovered they contained foods he despised he sighed in frustration. The whole day was definitely not what he had been promised he ate the ration of food trying not to gag the entire time. After finishing the food he began to push forward in the cave system trying to find the path he needed to take. He continued to dodge the group of lifeforms as they appeared throughout the caverns. His cover became more and more scarce as more torches began to adjourn the cavern walls. He had narrowed down the path needed after scanning the area with the tricorder that still was on the fritz, even after he had tried to fix the device. The tricorder indicated the path was through a small tunnel that would test the limits of his flexibility. He realized he was parched and needed a drink knowing he had water he pulled out the metal container and took a long drink almost spitting the water out, as he realized it was tonic water. He hadn’t had much of it before, but he had heard it helped to calm the nerves.

He shoved it back in the bag and started his slow crawl through the tunnel knowing it was his best approach to stealth. As he crawled further in the tunnel it began to narrow more until he made it to the end and broke into a massive chamber that had drawings all around the walls. He looked down seeing he was on a small overlook and his eyes widened seeing the room full of lifeforms. He scanned the area with his eyes and saw in the middle of the chamber hung a headdress adjourned with what looked like pearls that were glowing dimly from what looked like the natural light from the fire. The tricorder reading spiked more frequently indicating this had to be the power source.

Now how am I supposed to use these items to get to that headdress?’ He began to think as he looked at the objects he had found. He heard a sound behind him and froze thinking one of the lifeforms had discovered him. He turned his phaser drawn when he saw a turtle-like creature approaching him. He had a plan finally formulated he grabbed the turtle “Hello there” he whispered to the turtle as he sat it by the Mugato plushy. He packed everything back in his bag, including the turtle he had now named Bongo. He had turned to go back through the tunnel to regroup when a portion broke away and he fell down into a trench. The trench spat him out into a corridor that connected to the main chamber. As the dust settled he could hear the sound of a thousand pigs. ‘I’m not brave enough for politics.’ He thought as he realized he was about to be discovered.

He went to grab Bongo, who was nipping at his pocket trying to get to his rations. He grabbed him and took the strap off his bag using it to strap the plushy to Bongo’s shell. He grabbed the shards wrapped in cloth and set them up at the corridor entrance from the chamber. It made them look like the horns of the Mugato. He grabbed four torches and quickly began to set them up one being positioned behind each shard in a way to magnify the light. He took the rations out and made a path that Bongo could follow heading into the chamber. He sat Bongo on the path and placed a torch behind him in such a way as to magnify the plushy on Bongo’s back. He then pulled out the PADD of opera and began to play it. The sound emanated louder off the cavern walls as the corridor got closer to the chamber.

‘Better dead here than in that irritating sand…I suppose.’

The chamber began to emanate with a sound that was terrifying but even more so were the shadows of what looked like an army heading into the chamber. The Porgs as Blade had named them began to oink in terror and shakenly looked upon one another waiting for any indication of what to do. The group stood for another minute quickly scanning the area trying to determine if the imminent threat was worth their lives. After deciding it was not worth his life one turned and began to flee in the opposite direction the rest of them began to follow suit until not one remained in the chamber.

Blade entered the chamber hearing the panicking Porgs abandoning the chamber. He stood up to see an empty area with only the sounds of the fleeing horde to be heard overtaking the sound of the opera. He looked down at Bongo and said, “Sometimes I amaze even myself.” he smirked and looked up at the headdress and thought for a moment before pulling his phaser out and shooting the string like rope suspending the headdress high above him. The headdress then fell breaking apart before hitting the ground due to its deteriorated state, as it did Blade ran up snatching one of the pearls that had broken off as the headdress had disintegrated into a dust cloud. Blade then turned and grabbed up the Mugato off of Bongo’s back, as well as the shards He looked at Bongo again “In my experience, there is no such thing as luck, just engineered brilliance! I tip my hat to you, my good friend.” He said before picking Bongo up and placing him in his pack as he began to fully sprint from the cave. Upon reaching the exit from the underground maze the suns blinded him. He then with the extra power from the pearl activated his comms “Kristofsen to Neptune, get me out of here.” He said as he tried to catch his breath.

His body began to disappear rematerializing on the Neptune with the Captain smiling and Kra’vaak laughing hysterically.

Treasonous Doubts

Lieutenant Oliver's Office, Deep Space 25
2391

“Lieutenant Oliver, it has been awhile.”

The solitary booming voice made Michelle jump as she looked up from what she was doing to see the familiar face of Michael Ryder. She smiled and stood up straightening her uniform. She had not seen Michael for a long time, in fact probably since the Academy. They kept in touch, but the surprise of seeing him on the Station was apparent.

“Lieutenant Ryder, I can say I had no idea that you would be coming to the station. What are you doing here?” she asked, trying to figure out what was going on.

Michael chuckled “Come on Michelle, we have known each other long enough that titles don’t matter in this case. The ship had to come in for resupply so I figured since I had some free time I would come see how you are doing.”

Michelle settled down knowing this wasn’t a formal visit. She motioned to the nearby chair for Michael to sit. “Do you want anything to drink?” she asked as she headed towards the replicator.

Michael nodded, “I will take an iced raktajino.”

Michelle nodded and replicated his drink, as well as a plain black coffee for herself. She brought the drinks over and sat back down at her desk clasping her fingers. “So how has things on the Aurelius been? I saw you made Chief.”

The small talk was a normal filler, but Michael knew Michelle and could tell something was bothering her. He had known her since the Academy and those same behaviors existed in how she carried herself. “I can see you’re trying to subvert the conversation by asking first. You know full well how I have been. I know you keep tabs on me.” he said looking at Michelle without blinking.

Michelle was fidgeting with a clip on her desk trying to avoid eye contact with him. It was a sign of guilt and she knew that, but it didn’t change the fact that Michael knew her better than most. “I have never been able to fool you. You have always been one step ahead of me and it looks like that isn’t ever going to change. I have been fighting some doubts on the validity of what I do.”

Michael took a sip of his drink with his eyebrow raised “Can you elaborate on what you mean?”

She sighed “Is what we do really something that matters? Like Starfleet says we are doing everything for the good of the Federation, but does what we do really change the outlook of war?”

Michael was shocked by the question. It wasn’t something he had ever had thoughts about because it was who he was as a Starfleet officer. “Of course what we do matters. I can’t say if it would change the outlook of war, but they started it from the time that the Federation was formed. How can we say if it would change the war?”

Michelle shook her head “If the Federation wouldn’t have tried to expand then would the enemies have ever bothered us? Maybe because of the allies we made, but would it have changed things? The Klingons have been pushing towards our borders even if no one tells you that. We always seem to make strides towards peace then we go five steps in the wrong direction because of the actions of superiors. So if we are doing the right thing then why do we have this never ending cycle of war?”

The comments did leave room for thought, but never any doubt about the ideals of the Federation. “Are you saying you doubt the Federation and the ideals we have lived to uphold?”

Michelle shrugged “I am not saying that, but you have to admit it seems like there is more to this.”

Michael shook his head “You’re the intel person. If the Klingons are pushing towards our borders I imagine command is working on a way to fight them back, but after all Worf did I don’t think the whole empire is against us. If we sat and never worked to become the Federation and just stayed on Earth where would we be now? Probably still struggling as a civilization. So war never changes. It happened before we knew of other planets and galaxies and it will continue regardless of our involvement.”

Michelle nodded “I guess that’s true, but I still feel there is more to it. I know that it is something I need to work through, but it won’t change who I am.”

Michael smiled “You have always had a strong will and the ability to overcome the issues that come. I recommend if these doubts continue that you speak to the station counselor and maybe your superior so they can help you quell these thoughts.”

She nodded “I will take that under advisement. I am sorry that I brought our conversation to such an unhappy venture, but it has been bothering me and I needed to voice it to someone I trust. And you have been someone I have trusted for a long time. I am hoping that will never change.”

Michael smiled “You have always been a good friend and if I can help you be a better you then I will always do what I can to help you. I hope that I never lose your trust either. I will never do anything to try and lose it.”

Michelle stood up and walked around her desk to give Michael a hug “Thanks for coming and checking on me I appreciate it.”

Michael nodded “I am glad I could. I would love to stay longer but I have a few other things I need to do. So I am going to go ahead and head out. Don’t be a stranger.”

Michelle smiled and watched Michael walk out of the office. She sat back down at her desk and frowned. The truth was she still didn’t agree with Michael and if it kept going this way she didn’t even think she would be a part of Starfleet much longer.

The End is Nigh

Olivers Base, Diitov
2399

Michelle had been trying to determine the best way to attack the Neptune and while Ajis’s ship was being refitted for the purposes in which she had set forth the issue currently was determining the best time to attack the Neptune. Felicity had kept in touch but it was rare to hear from her because of the missions and undertakings of the Neptune. Michelle had been trying to ascertain where she would be and even the A.I. was having trouble in determining the information.

Her mole had been resourceful in most cases, but even he was having trouble determining the location of the Neptune. As Michelle looked at the screen she heard the faint footsteps of someone and turned to see Ajis walking her way. She turned her seat around and waited for him a look of annoyance on her face.

Ajis entered the room and noticed that very look she had and chuckled slightly. “Now now. What was the saying the human parents say to their children? Keep making that face and it’ll stay like that.” He teased as he rubbed his hands with a towel. He continued quickly, “Well, hopefully, this will cheer you up. The ship is ready. It has teeth and the power to manage those teeth and its cloaking device is near perfect. Long as we don’t push it too much, the risk of detection is practically nil. Course, had a lot of help from your A.I., so why wouldn’t it be perfect?” He smirked.

Michelle rolled her eyes Ajis had this was of being smug and annoying in a way that she despised, but at the same time he was useful “You can keep your opinions to yourself about how I look Ajis.” She snapped before smirking “Good work on getting the ship ready. I had no doubt my A.I. would help probably did the work of what an army would’ve taken months if not years to do.”

Ajis chuckled some. “Was a small joke, to lighten the mood.” He teased before he gave a nod of his head. “Aye, if it weren’t for your A.I. and all those holographic assistants, it would certainly have taken longer. So now that we have a ship, what’s the plan?”

Michelle sit back for a minute “We are going to make life for the Neptune miserable.”

Ajis took in a deep breath. “Ah. The amazing aromatic smell of the desire for revenge. The ship is ready to depart as soon as you are, boss.”

Michelle thought for a minute “We depart within the hour make sure the ship is loaded with everything we need. We could be away from the base for awhile.” She ordered and smiled. It seemed things were finally starting to go to plan.

Timeskip

It hadn’t taken long for the ship to be underway. Michelle seemed to be more uneasy about her plan than before. Michael knew her and he knew how she thought and acted. Even after all these years it hadn’t changed and in the back of her mind it made her wonder if she could actually destroy the Neptune. She wanted too, but would it be successful. Her mind continued to race due to these thoughts in her mind. She headed to the bridge and found Ajis.

She silently approached him and spoke in a low yet pointed voice “How long till we intercept the Neptune?”

The reply came quickly “We should be intercepting in less than 10 minutes.”

A wry smile came from her face, as this is what she had been waiting for. It was time to finally bring Ryder and his precious Neptune to it’s knees. The intel Jameson had given her helped in determining the location of the ship. She had been working on this plan for years and now she would show the Federation what she was capable of. It was time to attack the Neptune with everything she had. While she was on the ship with Ajis her forces were amassing to warp in. It was time for a battle and she had the element of surprise.

She walked away from Ajis and opened her encrypted comms “Captain Cordova, are the ships ready for attack?”

The reply from the Captain came “We are ma’am.”

That was all the information she needed she nodded and thought with the different ships that the Neptune won’t stand a chance. She was too far away from any stations or other Federation ships to have any assistance.

A Gesture That Will Not Be Forgotten

Near Organia
2399

The USS Tesla was new to Ryder, but he acted like he had been on the ship for years. His crew had been admirable in the work they had done so far. He had already been tasked with some exploration near the Klingon Neutral Zone. In most cases this made people nervous given the somewhat jaded relationship between Starfleet and the Klingons. Ryder had interacted with Klingons in the past, but he couldn’t say they were friends except for one.

Ryder looked through the reports when he heard the chime of his door. He watched as his Chief Strategic Officer entered. The one Klingon that Ryder actually knew, as he met him in the Academy. Kra’vaak was one of the Klingons that held good thoughts on Starfleet. He had been one of Ryder’s closest friends and someone who had taught Ryder how to fight. “Captain I have a favor to ask.”

Ryder looked up with a raised eyebrow “What do you need? You know I am willing to help if possible.” The statement as true as anything he could say in the moment.

Kra’vaak looked at him “I picked up a distress call from a Klingon Bird of Prey and the captain is my brother General Klex. It seems as though they are in danger of a Nebula destroying them. Would we be able to aide assistance? I know it is not part of our duties, but I still don’t want to see my brother not go to Sto’Vo’Kor.”

Ryder thought for a moment, as this was not the usual request from his crew. “This could be a very touchy situation especially when the ship will be in Klingon territory. I would be willing, but only if I knew that we weren’t going to be attacked for helping. The truth is I don’t want to take my newly acquired ship to its immediate doom.”

Kra’vaak laughed boisterously “I can understand the worries, but I don’t think we will have any problems, especially as it is my brother, but we can radio them before we approach for the safety of the ship, but then I am telling you what you already know.”

Ryder nodded at the remark “Go ahead and try to get ahold of your brother on comms and make sure it is broadcasted on the bridge. That for your safety as well as everyone else’s. I will be to the bridge momentarily.”

Kra’vaak nodded and left the office. Ryder turned around and looked out the window thinking about what could go wrong with this idea.

Timeskip

Ryder joined the crew on the bridge to see the Klingon vessel on the viewscreen, as he looked his stomach got queasy. He saw Kra’vaak who looked pleased with the current state of events. Over the comms he could hear the voice of a Klingon “This is General Klex of the IKS Ak’Hust we appreciate your assistance in this matter.”

Ryder stood at his seat “This is Captain Ryder of the Tesla we will be sending a team of engineers as well as your brother over to assist with repairs needed. We will also provide defense in case of any attack during this time.” He looked at his crew and knew they were capable of doing what was needed, but he hoped they were not attacked the Tesla was a new ship and she wasn’t meant for severe combat situations.

“Understood again thank you for the assistance, while some Klingons think humanity is a problem from the information my brother has told me I know I at least respect you Captain. You also have the word of my ship and crew there will be no issues while you are here to help.” Krex replied through the comm.

The words helped to reassure Michael that he was safe here in the vicinity of the ship. It was much bigger than the Tesla and that alone could cause huge issues of the Klingons wanted to attack the ship. He had good faith that would not happen, especially considering the generals brother was part of his ship.

“Thank you, General. We will be beaming over in the next five to ten minutes please prepare for the arrival of the crew.” he said trying to not tell the Klingon what to do. The solitary reply came back acknowledging the statement. Ryder looked at Kra’vaak “Be careful.” he said as he watched his friend head for the turbolift. He got the usual toothy grin from the Klingon.

Timeskip

The repairs were quicker than he expected thankfully between the combined knowledge of his engineers and the Klingons the ship was repaired and ready to depart. There had been no suspicious activity while the Tesla help overwatch. He looked at Kra’vaak who had just arrived back on the bridge “Captain my brother said he wanted to come see you I told him to just join me.” Michaels eyes got wide for a moment before seeing the doors slide open and a massive Klingon stepping onto his bridge clad in battle gear. Michael went over to greet him “General Klex welcome to the Tesla”

The general smiled “I am sorry about the surprise visit, but I wanted to thank you in person and to say we’re in your debt. IF there is ever anything you need I will make sure the entire fleet under me will answer the call. Not only because your so respected by my brother, but the fact that you was willing to take a chance to help us not knowing what we would do shows your dedication as a Captain and your warrior spirit. I also know you need to leave so I will not keep you”

Ryder wasn’t sure what to say to the remark, but he nodded “Thank you, honestly I am not sure what else I can say. I will remember that it was also my honor to meet the brother of one of my closest friends. Until next time Captain.” He smacked his chest and looked at Kra’vaak before departing.

Ryder was in a state of bewilderment and didn’t know how to react. He hoped that he would never have to use the assistance that was offered, but the future hold many unknown aspects.
