“Time is no longer endless or the horizon destitute of hope.”
— Charles Lindbergh – Ship’s Dedication Quote

Fresh from resupply and bolstered with a wave of freshly assigned personnel, the USS Horizon departs at the dawn of 2403 with a simple remit as old as starfleet itself: go where Starfleet’s maps end and return with more than you left with. But in a fleet still rediscovering its rhythm after years of political tension, shifting priorities and hard-won stability. It represents a renewed confidence – an assertion that exploration, diplomacy and scientific curiosity still define the federations beating heart.

For Captain Tahlari Vahl, stepping aboard the USS Horizon  is a recommitment to those under her command. Her recent tenure as a Starfleet Envoy has sharpened her diplomatic instincts and broadened her understanding of a sector still in flux. Now with her boots back on board a Starfleet vessel, she brings that experience to bare on a vessel suited for the uncertain frontiers ahead.

The crew, a blend of a small cadre of seasoned veterans and bright eyed newcomers straight from the academy. Engineers eager to test the ships limits. Scientists ready to catalogue the unknown. Security officers trained to handle even the shadowy areas of space. Each bring with them their own story, their own ambitions and their reasoning for choosing a career which course leads directly into the blank areas of the stellar charts.

Together, they set out toward regions where rumours of ancient civilisations, uncontacted species and unexplained phenomena linger like stardust on the edge of every sensor sweep. What lies ahead may challenge them, change them or redefine what the Federation believes it knows. Whatever waits on the horizon, the truth remains clear:

This ship, its crew and its captain are ready to meet it.

Horizon Heavy Cruiser Squadron

At the Spearhead of Starfleet’s mission of exploration, the Horizon Heavy Cruiser Squadron is centred around its flagship, the USS Horizon. Its ships designed to Explore and support those who venture where the maps end and uncertainty begins.

Operating at the far reach of established Starfleet infrastructure, the squadron serves as both explorer and rapid response. Across distant reaches of Federation space and amongst the countless unexplored regions that lie in between and beyond it, the Horizon Heavy Cruiser Squadron’s ships carry the Federation’s spirit of discovery into the unknown. Their crews seeking out new life and new civilisations, forge lasting relationships with distant peoples and illuminate mysteries hidden beyond the edge of the stellar map.

Alone amongst the stars more often than not, the squadron embodies the self-reliance and determination required of Starfleet. Its vessels frequently the first face of the Federation encountered beyond its borders, acting as diplomats, scientists, protectors and emissaries in equal measure. Every voyage represents an opportunity to broaden the Federation’s understanding of the galaxy and every challenge overcome helps to ensure that the promise of exploration endures for future generations. For the officers and the Crews of the Horizon Heavy Cruiser Squadron, the unknown is not an obstacle to be feared, but an invitation to venture further.

USS Horizon

For one second nobody on the bridge of the USS Horizon moved. The everything moved at one. Captain Tahlari Vahl turned towards her first officer, Lt Cdr Rupert Cavendish, after all their efforts she wasn’t willing to lose the USS Johnston now. Lt B’lai Tyler’s hands were already moving [...]

USS Horizon

The first Klingon boarding craft struck the USS Johnston hard enough to move the ship. Not much, but enough to feel it. The deck shifted beneath Ensign Sara Winters as she reached the junction outside transporter room 2. Somewhere behind the bulkhead metal groaned under a new load it had not been [...]

The Line we Hold

USS Horizon

The Klingon vessel finished decloaking like a blade being drawn. It’s familiar green hull appearing as the cloaking field collapsed revealing the hard angles of a Vor’cha class cruiser. It’s broad wings catching the distant starlight. On the USS Horizon’s bridge, Lt Kaelen Rix watched his [...]

USS Horizon

Forty-three minutes remained on Lt Cdr Rynka Korren’s original estimate. She had stopped looking at the clock. The USS Johnston’s warp core filled Main Engineering with a blue-white pulse that was almost regular. Every seventh cycle though, the light shifted. Not enough for someone unfamiliar [...]
