The last eighteen months have been peaceful for the Beta Quadrant. Now that peace stands threatened, not only by the sound of weapons fire but something more sinister and powerful: the stars themselves turning against the Federation.
Deep in the more rimward reaches of the Beta Quadrant, a spontaneous and mysterious affliction has been striking the stars. Across the Cestus Sector Block, straddling not just Federation space but the territory of its neighbours, a multitude of stars surge with unusual activity. Violent flares, coronal mass ejections, high-energy radiation; enough to cause chaos to any who live or work near them. Colonies are disrupted by stellar activity, communication and sensors struggle through the interference, and stellar infrastructure struggles to stay intact.
Worse than that, the chaos of the stars has awoken something else.
The Gorn are coming.

In eight days, Bravo Fleet will launch its latest campaign: Wildfire. In this eight-week writing event, the Fourth Fleet responds to the chaos gripping the Cestus Sector Block, from studying the mysterious Wildfire Phenomenon afflicting the stars, to dealing with its consequences. The damage to life within the area. The difficulties hitting communication and sensor systems. And the Gorn, their aggressive behaviour triggered by the changing stars, acting beyond all reason or diplomacy, seeking only expansion and violence.
This campaign draws upon the lore of the Gorn from Strange New Worlds, and depicts them at their most dangerous and terrifying. This is, however, not merely a military event. Members can of course write stories about facing down violent Gorn attacks, taking out enemy strike groups and defending colonies – but these tales of confronting the Gorn can also draw on the themes of horror and tension as depicted in SNW. Beyond the Gorn themselves, the Cestus Sector Block is in dire need of humanitarian aid, and the Wildfire Phenomenon is still ill-understood, the stars in need of study and survey – often under highly dangerous conditions – to try to bring this to an end. Likewise, the Gorn threat and Wildfire phenomenon both spill into Klingon territory, invoking the tense relationship the Federation has with its neighbours.
From tales of combat to diplomacy, scientific investigation to humanitarian aid, the Wildfire campaign is a space members can tell any kind of Star Trek story.
The eight-week campaign is longer than a Fleet Action, with its duration bringing us right up to the holiday season. It’ll also span the Thanksgiving break, a period which usually sees a downturn in activity. A longer campaign, as such, does not demand members write at an intense pace for longer, but invites writers to take their time.
Wildfire is also a fine opportunity for collaborative writing. This campaign features Task Force Scenarios, ‘mini-briefings’ pertinent to each TF’s region (specifically, TF21 and 47, who have starbases in the Cestus Sector Block) and/or mandate. Engagement with these scenarios is optional – anyone can tell any kind of story anywhere – but give a great opportunity for members to get creatively closer with their TF, either through direct joint missions or simply enjoying the same collaborative space. The Intelligence Office is particularly grateful to the TF staff who have assembled these scenarios for their members.
The mystery of the Wildfire Phenomenon itself will be revealed in due course, with a revelatory twist intended during the first half of the campaign.
While Wildfire is not a Fleet Action, and thus does not have the high-stakes, head-to-head competition of our annual flagship event, you can expect the usual creative competitions alongside this campaign, such as ribbon races and comment races.
The Intelligence Office has been hard at work in the run-up to the campaign, and has some fresh and refreshed articles and material to help you get planning. Take a look at:
- The Wildfire BFMS briefing
- The Gorn Hegemony wiki article
- The Cestus Sector Block wiki article
- The Wildfire Phenomenon wiki article
- The Ardana Station wiki article (the mission hub for the event
- Gorn Hegemony starships wiki article (Coming Soon)
You can also – ideally after reading the BFMS briefing! – read every Task Force’s Wildfire Scenario:
- Task Force 17 Scenario
- Task Force 21 Scenario
- Task Force 47 Scenario
- Task Force 72 Scenario
- Task Force 86 Scenario
- Task Force 93 Scenario
Remember that you can use the next eight days for planning and discussion – particularly among TFs with your hot new scenarios! – but the point of a campaign is to enjoy it while it lasts. With a ribbon race planned, any ‘pre-writing’ – drafting your story, rather than simply planning it – is not only against the spirit of the event, but cheats other writers. You’ll have plenty of time to write; use this time to read, think, plan, get hype, and encourage others!
Wildfire launches on Saturday, October 24th, 2026 and lasts until Sunday, December 20th.
