Personality
Helena Ripleigh is a pragmatic, rule-abiding, disciplined and deeply logical crewmember. She can some across as being very strict when it comes to protocol but has been known to be a little more ‘resourceful’ with the rules when she needs to be.
She maintains a strictly professional demeanor and anchors her actions within professional protocol. This can create friction with other crewmembers as her rule orientated nature can be seen as quite frustrating to her peers. Though, she sees this as a way to protect her ship and crewmates.
She has an acute awareness of environmental hazards and operational anomalies. During high stress situations she relies heavily on her analytical reasoning as opposed to resorting to panic. She possesses a rare capacity to supress fear responses in favour of tactical solutions.
Hobbies and Interests
Helena’s interests reflect her organised and analytical nature. She enjoys studying the sciences and historical mission reports. She had a fascination of understanding how complex situations succeed for fail. Away from duty, Helena prefers structured and purposeful activities. She enjoys logic puzzle, strategy games and endurance based fitness routines that reward discipline and careful planning. For Helena, relaxations doesn’t come from excitement or spontaneity but from the reassurance that everything is organised and under control.
History
Early Life (2370-2391)
Born on Earth in 2370 to human civilian parents. Had an average childhood with nothing really of note. Academically, hit the middle of the road, and kind of fell into Starfleet because it was there. Didn’t chase service at all and had no real desires, as she would say “I had to do something.”
Starfleet Academy – San Francisco, Earth (2391-2395)
She commissioned into the science Division and specialised in Xenobiology while at the Academy. She saw it as something ‘different’ to what she’d done previously and wanted to give it a go. She continued to be an average student who did throw her self into her studies but remained middle of the road academically. Exploration was always her calling. Whenever classes ended, she was off trying to discover something new for herself.
USS Horizon (2395-Present)
The newly promoted Ensign Helena Ripleigh took an assignment as a Science officer on board in 2395. She had remained on board since, working her way up to full Lieutenant. The vessel’s specialist Xenobiologist, she also now serves as the Chief Science Officer on board.
Ripleigh contributed with professionalism and dedication throughout the displacement crisis of 2403, she adapted quickly to an unfamiliar and dangerous reality. Their actions helped support the Horizon’s primary mission, protect the crew, rescue the displaced and uphold Starfleet values under extraordinary circumstances.
