Jaxara possesses the warmth, curiosity and resilience that many associate as the best qualities of Talaxians. She is naturally outgoing and approachable and has an easy ability to put others at ease. Her fascination with other species comes from years spent on a bustling trade post while growing and has made her genuinely interested in peoples histories, traditions and beliefs.

Despite her cheerful personality, Jaxara carries the weight of significant loss. The Vaadwaur attack that claimed her family profoundly changed her outlook on life, but rather than making it bitter it has strengthened her determination to help others. She understands how quickly everything can be taken away which had given her a deep appreciation for community, compassion and the importance of offering support when it is needed.

As a newly commissioned Ensign, Jaxara is very aware she has a lot to learn. Unlike many officers that follow a traditional path, she entered service through extraordinary circumstances and constantly strives to prove she desereves her place. This sometimes leads her to work harder than required. But fortunately for her, her eagerness to learn is equal to her genuine willingness to seek guidance from both her peers and chain of command.

What truly sets Jaxara apart is her ability to adapt. Whether navigating unfamiliar cultures, operating in a crisis or finding herself suddenly serving in Starfleet, she embraces change rather than fearing it. Combined with her natural empathy and curiosity it makes her a valuable xenoanthropologist and a crew member who often sees an opportunity for understanding.

Hobbies and Interests

She had always been fascinated with other cultures, traditions and the stories that shape them. Her quarters are filled with interesting items that she has come across, traded and been gifted while on her travels. She spends much time studying these and also recording oral histories of those she meets.

She enjoys cooking and sharing meals with others, seeing this as a good way of getting to know others and their cultures. When time allows, she can often be found exploring distant worlds on the holodeck in an attempt to satisfy her curiosity when on the quieter missions.

Early Life (2380-2402)

Born on a small Talaxian trading post in the Delta Quadrant, she became obsessed with the culture and origins of all the species that used to visit the post. Both her mother and father were traders, she would often join them when they visited those away from the trading post.

Nightfall Incursion – Mellstoxx III (2402)

Both her parents will killed in an unprovoked Vaadwaur attack on the trading post in 2402. Her and a few others were rescued by a Federation vessel. In thanks for the assistance, she immediately made herself useful for a Barzan Starfleet commander, Tahlari Vahl. When Vahl was given a promotion to Captain and offered a command of her own, she asked Jaxara to become a member of her crew. The assistance she’d given was enough to be offered a field commission, with the caveat that she would complete Starfleet training while on board.

USS Horizon (2403-Present)

In Early 2403, Jaxara, was given a field commission and the rank of acting Ensign on board the USS Horizon. She serves within the Science Division as the Xenoanthropology specialist on board while completing final coursework and assessments for a full-time position in starfleet.

She contributed with professionalism and dedication throughout the displacement crisis of 2403, she adapted quickly to an unfamiliar and dangerous reality. Their actions helped support the Horizon’s primary mission, protect the crew, rescue the displaced and uphold Starfleet values under extraordinary circumstances.
