Quick Hits

  • This was, by basically every metric, the most active and involved Fleet Action that Bravo Fleet has done to date. Congratulations to everyone who placed in a competition, but more importantly hats off to everyone who participated! Hopefully it was a fun one for all of you.
  • A huge congrats to Task Force 17 for taking first place, but also a huge kudos to the rest of the Task Forces! In my eyes, no Task Force did ‘badly’. Everyone came together and enjoyed the Fleet Action! A huge tip of my hat to the Operations staff for keeping the beacons lit pointing people in the direction of the Fleet Action.
  • Gaming participation and activity was way up this year, even over last year. Last year’s Fleet Action benefited from some unforeseen exploits, but this years was just a smash hit. The Security Office was consistent and killed it in getting people gaming!
  • I think my overall take away this Fleet Action is that Bravo Fleet continues to grow as a multi-faceted club. This FA was more diverse than ever in competitions, writing, and gaming than ever before.
  • And finally, writing. There isn’t much to say other than Nightfall surpassed The Lost Fleet for word count. Something we didn’t think would be happening any time soon. Y’all wrote your absolute pants off!
  • One last nugget I will leave with is scoring. Something that myself and the rest of the BFSS are well aware of is how lopsided participation in the rank and file competitions is to scoring. We have until next year to decide what to do about it, and maybe ‘don’t change much’ is the answer. But we have been discussing several scenarios including making competitions, gaming, and writing more evenly weighted. The Fleet Actions are the one event of the year where all of the facets of Bravo Fleet come together, after all, which is why its our flagship event! More on that will come with next years Fleet Action.

Battlefield Promotions

One of the biggest things that I have wrestled with this Fleet Action has been Battlefield Promotions. In the beginning, during our very first Fleet Action in 2020 called The Raptor’s Wings, the BFPs were a way to basically fill the gaps in the ranks between where everyone else sat and where some of the leadership sat. In the years since, we’ve had Fleet Actions where we’ve done just as many BFPs, some where we’ve done less, and some where we haven’t done any at all. I think, generally speaking, the purpose of the BFPs has run its course. They filled the gaps and now the progression of a newly joined member of Bravo Fleet up to the rank of Captain is a very smooth progression. That being said, I feel this year the Fleet Action had two people who really stuck out for what they did for the members and for Bravo Fleet, far beyond what the expectations of their rank would normally entail. Congratulations to:

Prestige Grants

For Task Forces, prestige is a percentage of the total score out of a grant piggy bank of 200,000 prestige. For individuals, it is a hard number for placing first, second, and third overall.

  • Task Force 17: 60,000 prestige
  • Task Force 21: 35,000 prestige
  • Task Force 47: 20,000 prestige
  • Task Force 72: 45,000 prestige
  • Task Force 86: 20,000 prestige
  • Task Force 93: 20,000 prestige
