It is always a pleasure to be able to write a promotion nomination, especially when it is for a member who has shown such enthusiasm and energy as Jack Anderson (aka Maikull on Discord). He is a regular happy face throughout the fleet, contributing to our family with his good humour and supportive nature. Today, we are proud to nominate him for the well-deserved promotion to the rank of Captain.

Since his promotion to Commander in November 2025, Jack has been working tirelessly, so much so that we think he’ll need a new keyboard soon! Initially regaling us with the adventures of USS Fox, where the nippy little vessel full of holograms was facing down the universe, he has most recently been adventuring aboard his beloved USS Dragon. Over both commands, he has earnt an amazing 434 service ribbons for penning over 100 thousand words! We’ve watched from the edge of our seats as a new crew has been brought together through adversity and then plunged headlong into the madness of the multiverse. Throughout his writing, Jack has explored not only practical action and high-stakes drama but also woven tales of nuanced character relationships and deeply philosophical introspection. He has also taken a dip into collaborative writing, earning 1 Duty Ribbon for penning a Task Force fiction as part of this year’s Fleet Action.

But writing isn’t the only adventure Jack has been on, having entered 24 separate competitions since his last promotion, and earning a podium position in 8 of them! He’s earned 2 Action Medals with Comet Clusters and 1 with a Moon Cluster for snatching second place in a particularly mind-boggling Sudoku competition. He’s also earned an amazing 3 Action Medals with Planet Clusters and 2 with Star Clusters for placing in competitions that run the gamut from inspired musical concoctions to skillfully putting holes in one in interstellar golf. Jack’s also been taking a leadership role, creating two competitions himself for his fellow members. ‘Bravo Fleet: Space Cadet’ saw our members open up the nostalgia banks to full for some classic pinball skills, and ‘Abdicate Assimilation! 3D’ pushed our members deep into a 3D maze (we’re pretty sure someone might still be stuck in there!).

Gaming is a favourite of Jack’s, as evidenced by his hefty list of gaming ribbons. Since November, he has earned 285 Joint Action Ribbons for gaming with his fellow fleet members in a wide range of games, including casual gaming with his fellows and a number of our Security Office-hosted game nights. He’s also earned 118 Combat Action Ribbons for head-to-head challenges, taking advantage of the Discord casual gaming opportunities to encourage friendly competition between our members.

I have also had the pleasure of working with Jack for the last 6 months as he stepped up into the role of Task Force Executive Officer for Task Force 47. He has been a constant battery of energy and excitement throughout this time, showcasing his ability to learn and grow whilst engaging and encouraging our members in their journey. He has shown repeatedly an insightful and considered approach to all our work and has showcased how important this role is in the daily lives of our Task Force.

Jack Anderson demonstrates the best of what Bravo Fleet has to offer. He is inquisitive, supportive, collaborative and enthusiastic, all the while bringing an insightful and good-humoured attitude to all his work. I look forward to seeing what the next chapter has in store for Jack. Congratulations, Captain, well deserved!

It has been a distinct pleasure to have Maikull as a member of the Science Department. Since joining us, Maikull has been an active member working with his fellow staff members on several projects to improve the quality of our articles on our wiki.

During our discussions and project-based work, Maikull has shared his insights and thoughts on the work we’ve been developing. He is a great team member who works hard to contribute to everything we’ve been doing. He has been involved in reviewing all of the starship articles and has recently been working on our station articles (together as a team we had to review over 600 articles). He keeps to deadlines too, to ensure projects do not overlap.

Without a doubt, Maikul is a great contributor to our community, and I fully support this nomination for this promotion.

The rank of Commander reflects a member who demonstrates experience, knowledge and skill across Bravo Fleet’s many facets. Beyond this it indicates a member who has brought much to our collective journey and signifies a member who understands and demonstrates those qualities we champion amongst all our membership. Michael (aka Maikull on Discord) continues to demonstrate the traits we most value, inquisitiveness, compassion and good humour.

Since being promoted in July, he quickly earned a Meritorious Service Cross for his contributions to the gaming sphere, as well as acknowledging his continued growth within our lounge. His constant humour has become an important element of our lounge, and the quality of the jokes notwithstanding, he has continued to bless us with his abundance of positive and good-natured jokes.

Maikull continued to earn more accolades and awards, receiving a Star for Distinguished Service, notably for his competition achievements, including the creation of several novel and successful competitions to challenge members. This was recently followed by a Star Cross, which highlighted his extensive contributions to Blue Squad’s activity during the Wargames events, where his enthusiastic and competitive spirit (and masterful skill with a graph) earned him a podium position in one of our most successful events to date.

He continues to contribute to our collective adventure, having recently earned forty service ribbons for the holographic adventures of Fox and friends as they begin their journey into the Shackleton Expanse. A ship full of holograms is just as susceptible to the mysteries of ancient ruins, it seems, and time will tell if they come out with all their photons! In addition to this, he has earned one Joint Action Ribbon and thirty Combat Action ribbons as part of Security Office activities with other members in both scheduled events and casual gaming. He has also submitted to two competitions and earned an Action Medal with Comet Cluster for taking a podium place for the ‘Operation ”Expanse” Dominion’ competition with some expert ducking, dodging and weaving.

We regularly count ourselves lucky to call Michael a friend and now colleague, having recently welcomed him into the Task Force Team as Task Group 13 Commanding Officer. He continues to demonstrate an insightful and forward-thinking attitude to our work, and I have no doubt we’ll be benefiting from his enthusiastic contributions for a long time to come. For all these reasons, we are proud to nominate Michael Angelus for the well-deserved rank of Commander.
