It has been almost a month and a half since the last Task Force 17 report, and I am happy to share that Task Force 17 continues to do well. Furthermore, I am delighted to be leading Task Force 17 again (even if it’s for the interim) since Captain Varro became Operations Officer and Task Force 93 Commander.
The start of something new often signals the arrival of change, and when Task Force 21 opened for transfers, Noli Auru seized the opportunity to rise to the challenge. Around the same time, Pascal Reade rejoined the fold and has since become an indispensable cornerstone of our Task Force.
With the success of the last campaign still resonating, we are pleased to share the latest coming from our deep space explorers!
Fiction Updates
USS Yamato
After retrieving the stolen antimatter disruptor from the Jade Exchange, Captain McLaren and her away team escape into the Badlands. While waiting for the Syndicate to abandon the chase, McLaren decides that such a powerful weapon should not exist—even in Starfleet’s hands. She sets the disruptor to overload and jettisons it into space.
The Yamato crew returns to DS17, reporting their mission’s (partial) success and enjoying a well-deserved shore leave. Their respite is short-lived, however, when Captain McLaren is contacted about Arys Turunen—one of her former friends and field agents from her time as an Intel Officer—who has been located on a Syndicate-affiliated vessel conducting harvesting operations on ex-Borg and is believed to be the instigator.
As the Yamato rendezvous with the USS Callisto, McLaren reconnects with Arys and uncovers how she ended up on the vessel. In doing so, she successfully clears Arys’ name.
USS Callisto
After catching up with the Asklepios, a vessel that had previously broadcasted an inventory of Borg implants and was implicated in destroying a civilian shuttle, Lieutenant Commander Keller and his team beam aboard; unbeknownst to them, the situation on the ship has spiralled out of control. The head of the operation has abandoned the vessel, leaving the remaining crew to pin the blame on a scapegoat. At the same time, the imprisoned ex-Borg have broken free and are taking desperate measures to escape their captors.
The away team manages to defuse the situation, saving as many lives as possible, and is determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. However, Doctor Trova questions the too-convenient story spun by the Asklepios‘ crew. She begins investigating the history of the woman they claim was their captain and, with the help of Captain McLaren, uncovers the truth.
Only a few weeks later, the Callisto is sent out to check up on the USS Givens, which hasn’t returned from its own rescue mission.
USS Rubidoux
Commander Lorena Kael and her team investigate a chronal anomaly on Theta Arnor Psi. The anomaly resets memories and possibly physical states upon leaving the planet, likely due to a failed experiment.
Upon their return, Captain Tiberius Rain observes the disoriented team. Though they had transmitted data during their mission, the logs were corrupted and indecipherable. Captain Rain tasks the science team with decoding the transmissions and analysing the anomaly; however, the intense work leaves the team physically and mentally exhausted.
Recognising their condition, Captain Rain orders rest. As the team disperses, he reflects on the dangers of such anomalies and the potential consequences if the weapon falls into the wrong hands, vowing to protect his crew while solving the mystery.
USS Healdsburg
Captain Olivia Grace prepares for a delicate mission to deliver Ambassador Katie Snow to the Romulan Embassy on New Romulus; feeling hesitant to accept the mission due to the potential for escalating tensions, Snow unexpectedly arrives early, revealing that her mission involves covert operations linked to heightened tensions with the Romulans.
As the Captain reviews intel reports for her mission but finds no new information, she calls her XO, Commander Kate Townsend, to discuss their concerns. Both women suspect the ambassador might have a hidden agenda.
Determined to uncover the truth, Olivia contacts Vice Admiral James Sarcrow, an old academy friend, for help. He reveals Ambassador Snow is a double agent working for Starfleet Intelligence. Sarcrow advises to ensure Snow reaches her destination and to leave a covert security team for her extraction if necessary, as trouble is expected.
Hecate Station / USS Gemini
As Captain Silina Ruslanovna reflects on the challenges of her role, she is interrupted by news of an incoming communication: the USS Gemini is being sent to assist the Romulan Republic colony of Dhaillak, which is facing relentless Klingon strikes targeting infrastructure, overwhelmed medical facilities, and failing city shields.
Upon the Gemini’s arrival, the colony was already under attack, and the crew had to balance securing the colony with a request for aid from the Valorex, a heavily damaged Romulan vessel.
