When The Skies Became Fire (Part 3)

God almighty. I don't recall reading a story that turned into such a bloodbath with characters being offed left, right and centre. Part three has been as gripping to read as the first two. Your use of description is terrific, so much so that I can visualise it all, and even feel like I'm there living through it with your characters. I've thoroughly enjoyed reading your story thus far and look forward to seeing what's still to come.

This was epic. I've been waiting for a while to see what game Matt Rourke was playing and I was not disappointed. I'd had a feeling that there was more than meets the eye to Rouke's relationship with Harrian and I'm glad to see that borne out here. I love stories that feature this kind of internal politics and intrigue and this story is giving it to me in spades. I'm looking forward to seeing what's next.

This chapter was beautifully bittersweet. Very sad to see Thawn and Rhade go through with their wedding. I'd hoped they would wake up and choose their own personal happiness over duty to their families, but I guess if Thawn has a chance to be happy, then she's not going to take it. It was lovely to see the crew of the Endeavour enjoying themselves together one last time before whatever the future may bring. As sad as I am to see a family of characters that I've grown attached to being torn asunder, it's been thoroughly enjoyable to read, and I can't wait to see what you bring us next.

Road trip! I bloody love this idea and pairing Bravo Fleet's favourite himbo with Thawn and Lindgren was the perfect choice. Of course no road trip is complete without singing along to music on the radio. This was great and I can't wait to see what adventures await our trio of intrepid explorers.

Nice to see Ritru's backstory fleshed out a bit and to get a taste of what it was like for her to be evacuated from Romulus. Also enjoyed seeing her relationship with T'Prel.

This was fantastic. I love the relationship between Beckett and Rourke, the father/son dynamic they have going on here; stern when he has to be but it's obvious he cares for Nate. The insight into Beckett's strained (to say the least) relationship with his father and his actions around Nate's recent award and promotion was very effective, the young man's bitterness and resentment were palpable. I particularly enjoyed that Rourke, for all that he owes to Admiral Beckett, sees the older Beckett for who he really is. And poor Thawn continues to suffer, trapped into an arrangement by her family and her sense of duty towards them. I'd hoped that she could finally move on but apparently you had other ideas. A great chapter.

Wow. That was brutal. Valance is exactly as stubborn as you would expect a First Officer to be and I loved her exchanges with Doctor Elvad. But that ending: 'Only the best of friends knew exactly where to slip the knife' How very true. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Poor Athaka, constantly having to be measured against someone like Rosara Thawn. He's obviously capable but just dosen't have her edge. 'the inelegance of his work' was such a perfect description. And mention has to be made of the tension between Rouke and Graelin. It's always such as fun read chapters involve those two but this was absolutely delicious. ‘I don’t need you to explain the science to me, Commander. I do not misunderstand you; I disagree with you.’. Such a killer line and then to have it followed up by Rourke's speech was perfect. Another great chapter.
