[Nightfall Phase 2]: Love During Wartime

To this day, writers and directors are still telling love stories against the backdrop of World War II. The life-and-death stakes of battle allow for heightened emotion that would otherwise appear out of place in something like an office romance story. These emotional stakes and operatic highs and lows are part of why these have become such enduring tales.

Your prompt is to write a story about how the Vaadwaur invasion has changed a romantic relationship between your characters. This could be a new connection, a deepening of what was already there, a breakup, an infidelity, or anything in between. This story post may include the exact moment of the change, a character’s reflection on what happened, or characters discussing the recent change. As always, it’s open to your interpretation, and what aligns with the story you’re already telling. It may also be a stand-alone story, as long as it follows the criteria.

Criteria

• Your Story should be between 500 and 2,000 words in length.
• The Story you selected for this submission must have been posted in a mission attached to the Nightfall Fleet-Wide Mission. It may be from your Command or a Bravo Fleet Sandbox RPG only. While we allow and encourage you to choose a Story from your ongoing Fleet Action fiction, only the single submitted Story will be graded and judged.
• The Story must have been posted during the competition's duration.
• Submitted Stories must have a single author.
• Your submission will be graded in accordance with the Bravo Fleet Fiction Rubric, which marks on the following criteria: Language, Style, & Mechanics; Adherence to Canon; Perspective; Characterization; Originality; Use of the Prompt.
