Britannia Exploratory Cruiser Division

While U.S.S. Surveyor serves as the Division’s long-range science explorer, the U.S.S. Britannia is the muscle behind the unit’s mandate.

The typical mission profile of Britannia Division can take on a wide range of specific tasks. From logistical support, scientific research and long-range exploration, to humanitarian response and diplomatic envoy missions.

Typically, each vessel will be assigned its own task, and when required, the other may be called upon to assist by augmenting the other’s areas of weakness.

Division patch

The U.S.S. Britannia serves as the division flagship – her superior tactical capabilities and role as a capital ship make her the obvious choice for assuming command and control of any given situation. In any joint mission, she will coordinate the appropriate response and provide her resources as required to achieve a shared goal.

The U.S.S. Surveyor is, in some ways, superior and more specialised in scientific tasks. She may take the lead when the mission leans towards research and exploratory requirements. She is marginally superior in maximum speed, and her smaller profile makes her perfect for missions that require a more subtle approach. While her flagship can always be made available to arrive with heavy support to even the tactical envelope or provide intense logistical support, she remains a capable vessel operating independently in her own right.

Crew Manifest

  • Command

The senior leadership of any Federation vessel. The command department seldom employs more than a handful of members, but they are all experienced personnel with oversight and responsibility that spans the entire crew. They are the officers charged with making the final decisions and are often in command of the entire ship.

  • Naomi Ashford

    Commanding Officer (CO)

  • Thomas Rourke

    Executive Officer (XO)

  • Security & Tactical

Security & Tactical function as one department on smaller vessels, where on others they may be autonomous.
The primary function of the Security & Tactical department is to protect the ship and her crew from threats both internal and external. Members of this department may be expected to conduct routine patrols along the ship's corridors, provide armed escort to away teams, and suitably qualified members may be required to operate the ship's suite of defensive weaponry from the bridge. It is perhaps the most important department on the ship, and members of this department will often gain sufficient experience to earn promotion to leadership positions swiftly.

  • Sarik

    Chief security/tactical Officer

  • Engineering

The Primary role of the Engineering department is the maintenance of the ship's systems. This department is also responsible for operating the ship's fusion reactors and Warp core, providing sufficient power on demand at a moment's notice. The department contains a lot of skilled technicians and some incredibly bright individuals who will often hold high-level qualifications in advanced sciences. Engineers are problem solvers, they are practical scientists and grease monkeys all rolled into one.

  • T’Lira zh’Shaleth

    Chief Engineer

  • Medical

The medical staff are the ship's surgeons, nurses and physicians responsible for the health and well-being of the crew. Very few staff in this department are laymen and are highly skilled in their field. They have to be calm and precise under pressure, delivering outstanding medical care to the crew at all times. The medical staff often are the only members of the crew who have the authority to remove Command members from office if it can be evidenced that they are unfit to continue their role.

  • Dr. Thre'xil

    Chief medical Officer

  • Flight Control

The flight control department is often the smallest on any ship. They are the pilots of the crew, responsible for the operation of the ship's auxiliary craft. Whether it be shuttles or work bees, an officer from Flight Control is sure to be responsible for anything that flies on and off a starship, including the ship itself.
They are also responable for the operation and logistics of the ship's shuttle bay, providing ground and traffic control to anything that wants to move across the flight deck.
During periods in spacedock, these officers will also assume a shared responsibility with Operations and Engineering for the loading and unloading of ships' cargo and stores. You name it, they'll haul it.
All external repairs and spacewalks involve Flight Control to some degree, whether it be operating the ship's complement of worker bees or coordinating staff during EVA, flight control plays a part.

  • Brott

    Chief Science Officer

  • Science

Science is a varied department responsible for all scientific data and experiments across the ship. It is rare for a member of this department not to hold degrees in a scientific discipline, though lab technicians still play an important role in the pursuit of knowledge. The department has oversight of the ship's astronomical sensors and long-range telescopes, as well as any of a number of experiments that might be conducted in one of the ship's science labs.

  • Darbok

    Chief flight control Officer

  • Operations

The Operations department covers a range of secondary functions of the ship. Though a dedicated Operations officer is required to be stationed on the bridge at all times, their duties can range anywhere from assisting engineers with maintenance, operating transporters, and practical logistics like cargo transfer. Many Operations officers are also fully qualified engineers, allowing them to work interchangeably with the Engineering department. During away missions, Operations might be responsible for logistical planning and advice, and they might also serve as communications experts when the mission requires the coordination of multiple teams or vessels. They can be sort of Swiss Army Knife officers, able to assist with multiple disciplines to achieve a common goal, but they exell in managing the wider secondary functions of the ship.

  • Fal Ralon

    Operations Officer

“Shields down to fifteen per cent,” cried the Romulan at tactical. A shower of sparks rained behind him; a strip of lights blew out from a power surge. “Mr Darbok, bypass safeties and continue acceleration!” Naomi insisted. She earned a scowl from V’alren, but even he realised that [...]
