USS Malinche

Excelsior II-class • NCC-38997 • Fourth Fleet

The U.S.S. Malinche (NCC-38997), the last of the original Excelsior-class ships to be refit in late 2399, spent much of the last couple of years primarily within Federation space, transporting flag officers and making typical supply runs to Federation colony worlds. After the Frontier Day incident in 2401, of which the Malinche did not participate and was too far away for the Borg signal to have affected anyone onboard, the ship was recalled and reassigned to the Pathfinder Long-Range Exploration Division, under the command of Captain Kosev Thiren. Their new mission, in addition to supporting the Pathfinder, is one of deep space exploration: to go where no one has gone before.
