The U.S.S. Pathfinder (NCC-97600), namesake of the Pathfinder-class starships, was commissioned in 2398. After her two year shakedown cruise, the vessel saw it’s first real assignment in 2401 when it was tasked with exploration of the former Romulan frontier, where Starfleet had little to no opportunity to send missions of scientific inquiry until the fall of the Star Empire of Rator.

In March of 2401, the Pathfinder was instrumental in bringing reinforcements to the Battle of Izar, tipping the balance and winning the battle for Starfleet. After the campaign, Pathfinder was reassigned for more deep-space exploration missions, and to that end, has come under command of Captain Kristina Tyelin. Their new standing orders from Starfleet Command: to seek out new life and new civilizations, and to boldly go where no one has gone before.
