There are some members who do not just participate but become the very heart of our Fleet, embodying the warmth and reliability that transforms a community into a family. Commander Traan exemplifies this spirit, consistently going above and beyond in collaboration and dedication. It is with immense pride and enthusiasm that we nominate them today for the well-deserved promotion to the rank of Captain!
Since their promotion to Commander in December 2025, they have written multiple exciting missions, many of them joint, that formed stories of nearly one hundred and fifty thousand words. This is alongside a spectacular eighty-six Duty Ribbons, not to mention numerous competition awards and challenge coins! That extraordinary level of activity, dedication, and impact was fittingly recognised with the Jonathan Archer Order of Merit on 28 May 2026. But that award did not mark a summit reached, rather a basecamp from which they will continue to climb.
Since that recognition, Traan has continued to pour energy into the missions of the USS Trenton, earning forty-nine Service Ribbons representing over twelve thousand words of fiction that proves that there is no such thing as slowing down after a Fleet Action for Commander Traan! Here is a member who shows up and keeps the adventure alive mission after mission, with unusual ideas and an ever-expanding cast of unique characters that blend action with comedy. Beyond their solo contributions, Traan has already earned four Duty Ribbons through joint writing with fellow members, demonstrating a generosity of spirit and a willingness to build stories together – particularly during the writing roulette on Starbase Bravo – rather than simply in parallel. They have also entered two competitions and organised one, continuing to engage with the full breadth of what Bravo Fleet offers.
Yet for all the ribbons and accolades, it may be Traan’s presence within Task Force 72 that speaks the loudest. They are, without question, a stalwart of the Task Force – a member whose encouragement lifts others and whose enthusiasm is contagious. Whether welcoming new members and helping them find their feet in joint writing, or keeping the Task Force lounge on Discord lively and warm, Traan embodies the community spirit that makes Bravo Fleet more than the sum of its parts.
Four pips are not merely a reward for activity: they are a recognition of a member who has made at least a year-long commitment to every facet our community. Traan’s devotion to the Fleet every single day, and devotion to creating opportunities for many members whom constitute our Fleet, has been the hallmark of his more than a year-long commitment to us all. Therefore it is our pleasure and privilege to recognise that commitment in Captain Traan. Congratulations!
Ever since transferring into Task Force 72 in September, Lieutenant Commander Traan has demonstrated remarkable sustained activity and a relentless enthusiasm for collaborating with others.
Already recognised with the Medal of Achievement, the Silver Palm and most recently the Star for Distinguished Service, Traan’s record is exceptional in volume and creativity. In four months he has amassed an extraordinary two hundred and seventy-nine Service Ribbons, representing approximately seventy thousand words of compelling fiction about the missions of the USS Blythe and now the USS April.
But more than that, Traan excels in spirited collaboration with other members of Bravo Fleet. He has earned ninety-one Duty Ribbons for collaborative writing , notably as one of the organisers of the six command joint mission ‘The Thin Grey Line’ to fend off a war between the Tholians and Sheliak! His enthusiasm for creating opportunities for other members to collaborate and keep the momentum going is admirable.
Never one to be idle, Traan has thrown himself into gaming with other members, being awarded sixty-five Joint Action Ribbons and eighty-six Combat Action Ribbons. His competitive spirit has not stopped there, having created eight competitions – including the novelty of paper drawing! – and participated in forty-four, earning him three Action Medals with Planet Cluster and one Action Medal with Comet Cluster!
For his record of achievement and his spirit of collaboration, we are proud to nominate Traan for promotion to the rank of Commander! Congratulations!
