Kurath gives me joy ^-^;; The relief of being given a task most would find tedious or boring. This was like was "GUARD THEM? YOU BET I WILL." Anything as long as it meant he could do something that fit within his scope. I love writing characters with self aware reductive world views. Their brevity and honesty makes them such a treat :)
*whistles* This one was a nailbitter. It had me so tense I couldn't sit down and focus on reading it through in one sitting. Very nicely written. Tension dripping out of every paragraph. I definitely dig this one.
Ooooo, now I wanna know who got spat out of Underspace. How'd they get in there? Nice hook! Can't wait for the follow up :)
I like the doctor. She reminds me lowkey of Pulaski from the second season of TNG. She's been around the block and knows how to handle a wide variety of folks. She's not taking crap from anyone. Also appreciate seeing the reasoned approach in how to handle the crisis, where maximum efficiency can be served. Knowing the limitations and places where your ship and crew might surpass others. Finely written :)
I dunno. I'm vibing with Reyes. She may not have all the answers, but no one ever does. She's making calculated assessments based on her observations and experiences. And they aren't foolish either. She saw how easily the Vaadwaur were like "oh, we're not winning anymore? Okay, everyone pack up and go home for the day." She knows how easily they could come back unannounced and worst of all, she know their current situation is tepid at best, and horrible at worst. This was a brilliant brawl and worst? It was only the Vaadwaur's opening gambit. Like sandpeople, they'll be back, and in greater numbers I suspect. Looking forward to seeing more of what becomes of the Dilligent. Very entertaining read.
This makes me miss writing a fighter pilot :*) It's great to see the interplay between the pilots out of the cockpit. To see how they're processing and coping with what they do. Being the fighters puts them exponentially closer to the madness, and sometimes they have to deal with bigger doses of it than most. Nicely done.
I'm not going to be able to unsee the idea of this poor guy going "I don't care if the damn ship is falling apart, IM HAVING THIS COFFEE" as if to spite the universe into submission ^-^;; Brilliant start off. Looking forward to more.
I'm still waiting for the Gorn vs Vaadwaur fisticuffs. Pull a Kirk and throw a big foam rock at them! Or do a Strange New Worlds and visit xenomorph horrors upon them >.>;;
I came in expecting satire. The switch to someone actually finding their way? A refreshing change. I like that. Way to switch it up on me :-p
Love a good set up story. Loved the apple comparison. A replicator will always make an ok apple. Nature can sometimes give you bad apples though. Thinking about it now I'm curious how a replicator would treat MRE's. They're already close to what I'd imagine replicator food tasting like as it is lol.
Always good to come across a palette cleanser when the universe is crashing down everywhere else. Nice read.
The life of a wrench monkey is often unloved, until someone starts shooting at the ship and said monkey is the only thing keeping the ship from peeling apart at the seams.
The Saucer seperation gimick never got enough love in the series being used on a couple of times. Nice to see it getting some shine here. And for a good reason too.
Nice set up. Power draining anomaly maybe? Or perhaps something else. Maybe a parasitic energy being? Possibilities abound ^_^
A fun read from all angles. Loved the interplay between Jericho and Rourke. Curious to see what Galcyon comes up with. Great read :)
I like the idea that Subspace would collapse naturally being predicted already. Like a futuristic example of climate change, but little do they know... Hope these two are okay when the craziness kicks off ^_^;;
I've always felt like the differences in lifespan wasn't a very heavily explored thing in star trek. Seeing a character that was out there kicking about when Kirk and Crew were at it is wild. To sit down and have a chat with that Gorn. The stories he could tell.
I couldn't make it to the end of the first paragraph without laughing at the Timu Dominion comment :-p Okay. The last line makes me love Yuulik even more. I'll have more Yuulik please.
Gods as a father I have felt this pain. Like no matter what you say or how you say it? It's NEVER correct. What a spot to be in with everything going on @_@;; Still, it's nice to have breaks from the frantic survival of the quadrants to smaller subdued interplay moments like these. Thank you very much for the palette cleanser. Now back to the mayhem...
*winces* Hope they teach the Alamo at the academy. Otherwise that's not a reference I'd be comfortable hearing in the situation ^-^;;; Still. A fantastically woven orbital battle which only appears to be entering the Serious Mode TM phase of the battle. Y'know, when ya stand up and focus really hard on your game? Yeah. That. Looking forward to the next installment.
