Abeloth - Aftermath

The Dragon is tasked to help relocate refugees and to search out and find what the Dominion left behind.

ABELOTH – Aftermath – 1

The security briefing room slowly filled up with personnel as a security all hands meeting was called for the end of alpha shift. Many entering the room noticed the small group of officers to include Lieutenant Yatokii and the Captain standing around the podium located at the front of the room.

“Give it a few more minutes, lieutenant and we will start.” Aryanna said as she returned several pleasantries directed toward her.

“Yes, ma’am”

“Do we have everything, lieutenant? As she turned toward the newly promoted lieutenant Thorn.

“Yes ma’am” as she placed several boxes on the podium out of sight of the growing crowd.

Aryanna placed her PADD on the podium and arranged it so she could see what was on the main screen. As she looked around the room and noticed that, the flow of personnel entering had slowed down to a few stragglers she nodded toward Lieutenant Yatokii.

Yatokii stepped forward and held up a hand to get the attention of the assembled personnel. “At ease, I know it is the end of the shift but we have a few things that need to be completed today. I promise to not take up too much of your time.”

“First thing, as of 0700 this morning Obsidian has been activated as the special missions team. As per the captain’s request, I have agreed that the head of security cannot lead a team such as this and conduct the duties inherent with my role. So with that being said let me introduce the new team leader for Obsidian. Chief Samples, Please join us up front.”

A middle aged human in engineering yellow steps forward.

Aryanna stepped up to the podium.

Yatokii blinked and then turned back toward the room “Master Chief’s Ngiazav and Ukogh, front and center.” The crowd watched as a Klingon and Orion in security red stepped forward.

”Master Chiefs, it seems that we have a situation. I have been reading your files today and it seems that an injustice has been done. Therefore, we are going to rectify that. Due to your experience and knowledge and the leadership abilities that you have shown it is my duty and honor to promote the three of you to the rank of Lieutenant junior grade effective immediately.” She reached into the cubicle behind the podium and pulled out three black boxes. “Lieutenant Yatokii.”

Yatokii stepped in front of the former Chief Samples and removed the chief’s rank as he sidestepped in front of Ngiazav and Ukogh, repeating the process.

Aryanna stepped in front of Lieutenant Samples, opened the first black box in her hand, pulled out the lieutenant’s pips, and handed the box to lieutenant Thorn. She pinned the new rank onto the collar of Samples and shook his hand “Congratulations Lieutenant.” She repeated the process two more times.

————————————————————————————–

“Meadow, we have been asked to help with resettling the refugees from Deptrock six along with others.”

“Interesting, any ideas on how we proceed with this?” Meadow asked as she sat back into the chair in front of the captain’s desk.

“It was suggested that we look at resettling them on planets that were hit the hardest by the Lost Fleet.”

“Hmmmmmmm, going to be a bit tougher than just showing up and asking the planet’s leaders to take in some refugees, I would think. It’s going to take some discussions to get them on board.”

Aryanna chuckled. “That’s why we have you.”

Meadow looked over the glass of water she was bringing to her lips, took a sip and set it back down on the edge of the desk.

“Captain, priority message from Farpoint Station.” came over the internal comms

“Send it to my console.”

Captain Rigras, in addition to the refugee resettlement that the Dragon has been tasked with. We would like you to undertake an exploration and information gathering mission. You are tasked with going deep into the former dominion controlled space and seeing what is out there. We want to know what they left behind, find it and send the information back so that we can send others to study it.

Aryanna sat back in her chair. “Well that changes things.”

“Indeed, though I can see why they have asked it of us. We came through that battle in fairly decent shape, looking at the reports others did not fare so well.”

Ayanna tapped her gloved fingers on the desk as she thought about the task that was just given to them. Tapping on her combadge. “Viameli, set a course for Farpoint station.”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Looks like we have a new set of mission parameters, I for one would like to handle the refugees first. However, I can see why command would want us to handle the new task first. But I just do not feel right going into the unknown with those refugees onboard.”

“I would have to agree with you on that, we do not know what is out there. I am sure that was not all of the lost fleet that we faced. Plus, who knows what the Breen are up to let alone other factions that may try to move into the region to fill the power vacuum.”

Aryanna typed something on her console as a map of the Deneb region came up on the room’s view screen. “The question now is where to start? How can we knock out two birds with one stone as the saying goes?”

Meadow stood and approached the view screen taking a minute to look it over and then turned toward Aryanna. “It all depends on which way we decide to go first, exploring dominion space or refugees?”

Aryanna looked at the map and then tapped the table with a closed hand. “Damn it, I’m sure I’m going to hear about this later. Refugees.” she nodded “Yes, we will go with the refugees first once we have them settled we can then direct all of our attention to the other task.”

“Computer, using the latest information, mark the planets that the Breen/Lost Fleet enslaved or took over during the conflict.”

Several pinpoints of light appeared on the map.

“Well, take your pick.”

Aryanna held up a hand. “Computer, mark the last known boundaries of the Dominion controlled space within the Deneb region.”

A ghostly white cloud appeared on the map stretching, in a crescent shape, from in front of the Breen territory to the area around Cait and Starbase 514.

“Izir was the first planet they hit, maybe a good place to start.”

Meadow looked at her PADD. ”The Nasera system may also work, though Izir allows us to knock out two birds with one stone. According to all reports Izir took some heavy losses when the dominion showed up, so they may be a bit more amicable to taking in refugees.”

“So it sounds like we have a path forward, pick up the refugees at Farpoint and head toward Izir.”

Meadow stood and pulled her tunic into place. “Not to add keeping our eyes and ears open.”

“Indeed” Aryanna added as she shut down the main view screen and stood making her way toward her ready room’s entrance.

ABELOTH-AM – 2

Dr. Shoji M’gok stood in the receiving area of Farpoint station’s medical offices and approached the young officer in blue sitting at the console/table a few feet within the entrance.

“I’m here to speak to whoever is in charge of the refugees.”

“Who may I say is calling?” the officer asked without looking up from the console’s screen.

“Dr. M’gok of the Dragon.”

“I’ll let them know you are waiting, doctor, please wait here.” as he gets up and walks toward the hallway on the room’s left hand side.

Several minutes later, he returned, leading another officer in blue.

“Dr. M’Gok, this is Lieutenant Sandler, he will escort you to the refugee operations offices.”

“Thank you.” she looked at the Lieutenant “Dr. M’gok of the Dragon here to discuss the care plans of the refugees that we have been tasked with finding a home for.”

“Ahhh, please follow me Doctor.” the Lieutenant turned and started down the hallway without looking back.

A few minutes later they entered a large room with what looked like roughly a dozen more offices and larger rooms branched off it.

“Welcome to the refugee operations center, as you can see this was put together rather quickly. We had to scramble to find enough medical and counselling personnel and to help with the sudden influx of refugees that we have taken in.”

They walk toward a central large table with several console stations. The Lieutenant took a seat at one bringing up the console’s screen. “Hmmmmm, the Dragon you say. Yes, here it is. Oh you brought in the Deptrock six group.”

“Yes, yes we did. How are they doing?”

The Lieutenant brought up a holo display so that Dr. M’gok could see the same thing that he was looking at. “Overall, they are making progress. Most of them will require some sort of counselling for the foreseeable future but medically they look pretty good for what they have been through.”

The doctor read the information using a finger to track where she was. “As you could imagine we were not set up on the Dragon for this number of refugees but we did the best we could.”

“Yes ma’am. Few ships are. It looks like the Dragon has been assigned the Deptrock six group and another smaller group. Roughly three thousand souls.”

Dr. M’gok let out a long breath. “That’s more than I think the captain was expecting. I’ll have to let her know right away so that preparations can be made.” she stepped back a couple of feet and tapped her combadge. “Captain, Dr. M’Gok”

“Yes, doc.”

“Ma’am, looks like we have been assigned two groups including the refugees that we brought in, roughly three thousand souls in total.”

Aryanna let out a long breath. “Very well, we will use the Wings to house most of them. I will start getting the area ready. I’ll talk with the station’s operations staff about getting some more supplies, let me know if your department will require anything additional.”

“Yes, ma’am. We will be spread thin with them on board, maybe see if we can get some temporary personnel.”

“I’ll see what I can do from my end, may I suggest asking around yourself.”

“I’ll ask, they are stretched thin themselves. Doctor M’gok out.”

For the next few hours, Doctor M’gok made her way around refugee operations, getting updates on the refugees, both medical and mental conditions, and asking if there were any personnel available to help them.

——————————————————-

“I wanted to discuss our next mission with you all. “ Aryanna said from her chair in the command briefing room.

“First things first, over the next forty-eight hours we will be taking on refugees from the Lost Fleet operation. We will be housing them in the wings and wherever else Doctor M’gok deems appropriate for their needs.”

She looked toward Sustram “You will need to get with station operations about getting additional supplies; I do not want to tax our replicator system so anything we can get from the station would be appreciated.”

“Yes. Ma’am. May I ask how many refugees? It’ll give me an idea on what we will need and how much of it we will need.”

Dr. M’Gok looked at her PADD. “Currently, we are looking at just over three thousand.”

Several sighs were heard around the table as several of the officers realized just what was ahead of them.

“So as you can imagine things will get crowded for a short time. We are already working on resettlement plans for them, and we have reached out to several governmental entities.”

Meadow looked at the Captain, “Yes, about that. It looks like the only one that will even consider taking in this number of refugees will be the Izar system. However, it is not a done deal. Looks like they will want to discuss things further upon our arrival.”

Aryanna nodded, “Well, we did discuss this the other night when we were making our preliminary plans.”

“I have started discussions with the diplomatic offices on the station for any information they may have that will help us in this particular matter.”

“Good, good. Onto the second part of the mission. Well some would say it is our primary mission. We have been tasked with exploring the formerly Dominion held territories. Looking for anything, they may have left behind. Scamandrius?”

“Yes ma’am. The heavyset intelligence officer leaned forward in his chair. The Izar system being open to taking in the refugees will actually help us in this particular matter. The intelligence gathered during and after the lost fleet operation points to the fact that Izar was one of the first if not the first planet to be attacked by the Dominion. With that being said, Captain, it would be a good place for us to start looking. It would make sense that there must have been some sort of infrastructure put in place for their attack on the region and we, as in the intelligence community, believe that it would be relatively close to Izar.”

“That’s still a lot of space to cover.” Viameli adds

“We could use the arrows; send them out while the Dragon is at Izar taking care of the refugee situation. Use them to scout out possible locations. They would fit that type of role quite nicely,” Commander Thornton suggested.

Aryanna nodded at this idea “Maybe for short range, let’s not forget that the Aztec is currently in route and should be meeting us at Izar.

“I was thinking of using probes originally, but with the Aztec joining us. “ Scamandrius shrugged. “As the captain has said we could use the Arrows to investigate anything that is only a few days out. Doing that will give us a chance to weed out the locations that may not be what we are looking for, plus it would allow the Aztec to explore more area.”

“Be that as it may, anything out there may give us information that we do not already possess on what the dominion was planning. We take our time and prioritize all targets. If the Arrows can help us work through those targets, all the better.”

“Any idea on how long we will be at Izar, Captain?”

Aryanna looked over toward Meadow.

“At least a week, maybe longer, it will all come down to what the Izar government wants in order for them to take in the refugees.”

Several of the officers sit back in their chairs as they ponder what this would mean for the mission’s time frame.

“Not going to be a quick one, is it?” Skagath adds

“Are they ever?” Yatokii replies from beside him.

“One could always hope for a quick and easy one from time to time.” Skagath says under his breath.

Those within hearing give a slight chuckle.

“We will schedule our departure for seventy-two hours from now, Dr. M’Gok let us know if there is anything you need in regards to the refugees and their needs. I want you to work with the XO in their care and resettlement.” she looked at her PADD. “I understand you were able to get some more medical and counselling officers to be temporarily assigned to us, will it be enough for our needs?”

“Not entirely ma’am. Even with their help we will be thin.”

Aryanna nodded at hearing this and then steeple’d her hands under her chin as she thought for a second. “I’ll see what I can do, but I doubt it will help. I’m willing to bet that what you were able to get is probably what they had available.”

“True.  We will do the best we can with what we have, Captain.”

“Very well then, you all understand what our mission is and what lays ahead.  Do what you can to prepare the ship and crew. If you have any questions or thoughts please bring them to Meadow or myself.”

ABELOTH-AM-3(Aztec)

Mathisson tapped on the screen as he saw the incoming message alert blink. He was shocked to see Captain Kr’Antren on the other end as the message was marked as coming from Task Force Command, not operations.

“Hello, sir. I guess congratulations are in order?”

Kr’Antren ran a hand through his beard and gave a slight chuckle. “It’s rather new Eric, still getting used to the idea myself.”

“So, how can the Aztec be of service?”

“Right to the point?”

“Well, why else would you be calling, sir?”

“That’s true. We have a new mission for the Aztec. We need you to join with the Dragon on her current mission. I know you are in the middle of figuring out the Suelaiktnor system situation but we need the Aztec and her systems in the Deneb sector.”

“Yes, sir. So what is the mission? And how soon do you need us out there?”

“You will start exploring the area around the Izar for anything that the Lost Fleet might have left behind, while the Dragon is finishing up another part of her mission. They will join you once they are finished with refugee resettlement.”

“Yes, sir.”

“As far as when we need you there, the sooner the better. We need to see what they left behind and the sooner we find it the better. We are already hearing reports that other entities are trying to do the same thing.”

“Ferengi?” Eric asked with a raised eyebrow.

“They’re the least of our worries?”

“I see.”

“Eric quickly typed something on his PADD and brought up a map showing routes from the Expanse to the Deneb Sector. “Still going to be a few weeks for us to get there, and I’m guessing the Dragon is already en route.”

“They are due to arrive in forty-eight hours at Farpoint station where they will begin to take on the refugees.”

“That puts us three weeks, give or take a few days, behind. We may be late to the party, Captain.”

Kr’Antren looked at something just off-screen. “Not if you use the corridor.”

“The corridor, sir? Is it worth the risk?”

“True, but I believe with the systems you have onboard and your size and speed I think you will find it easier than you think. And yes, for this particular mission, I do believe it will be worth the risk.”

Eric pulled up the map showing the mentioned route, if you can call a narrow corridor between two rival non-Starfleet friendly factions, a route. “I see what you mean sir, it helps that Atlantis and Dragon both recently used it. Of course, we will have to slow down to get through the Vadlox nebula, but even then we should cut a couple of weeks or so off of the transit time.” Eric tapped on his combadge “Lieutenant Rockholdt, Captain Mathisson.”

“Yes, sir”

“New orders incoming. Prepare the ship for departure; I want us ready to leave as soon as possible.”

“Yes sir. Do you need me?”

“Not right now, I’ll fill you in once I’m done.”

“Yes, sir.”

Tapping his combadge again “Lieutenant Darame, Set a course for Alpha Alpha Seven. Warp 8.”

“Sir, that’s the entrance to the corridor.”

“I know, plan your route, Lieutenant.”

“Yes, sir”

“Anything else, Captain?”

“Not at this time, I am sending you the full mission packet as we speak. Let me know if you have any further questions. Good luck, Eric.”

“Thank you. Sir”

——————————————-

Eric exited the turbo lift and entered the bridge as the captain’s whistle went off. “Good morning everyone.” as he made his way to relieve the lieutenant sitting in the command chair.

“You’re up early this morning, captain.”

“Not really, just on the bridge earlier than usual.” he chuckled.

“Captain, estimate arrival at Izar in twenty-four hours at current speed.” the gamma shift helm officer reported as Eric made his way onto the bridge.

“Thank you, Ensign.” As he turned toward the gamma shift science officer.” Anything on the scans?”

“No, sir.”

“Sir, the latest from the Dragon has them just arriving at Izar of a couple hours ago.”

Eric nodded as he took a sip from his coffee mug.

“And the latest from Izar is that they had several Ferengi salvage ships in the area in the past few days, they wouldn’t say which way they were heading but all data showed them leaving toward Lungurn system and the Saxue system.”

“Damn it, the Saxue system was on my list of possible targets to work towards. Tactical, what is their best possible speed?”

“Warp five maybe warp six, sir”

“With a two to three-day head start, that’s going to be tough to catch up.”

“Maybe not sir, What if we bypassed stopping at Izar and made our way toward Saxue.” the ensign sitting at the Helm console added.

“It’s a thought.”

“Sir, we don’t even have to get to the system. I am sure our sensor suite is better equipped and more capable to search the area than anything the Ferengi may have onboard. ” the science officer added as they noticed Ensign Caradwe enter the bridge along with the XO.

“I would have to agree with her, sir. We could be a few days out and still see what is out there. “Ensign Cardwe added

“Helm. Make the course change. Comms, notify the Dragon of the change in our plans and tell Captain Rigras that I will contact her in a few hours to explain our plans. You all talked me into it.”

“Yes, captain”

Eric turned toward his XO as he saw him take a seat in his console. “Change of plans Austin, We are bypassing Izar, Looks like we may have some competition on finding what the dominion may have left behind.” he quickly filled him in on the latest reports.

——————————————

Darame looked up from his console. “Sir. We are crossing the perceived boundary of the lost fleet-controlled area.”

“Let’s drop from warp and take a look.”

They watched as the ship dropped from warp.

“Sir, Ferengi warp signatures on the sensors, Looks like they stopped here briefly and then continued.”

“How long ago?”

“From the degradation of the signatures, I would guess no more than fifteen hours.”

Eric looked over at Austin “Not bad, roughly twenty hours made up according to the reports from Izar.”

Austin looked over at Tizor. ”Which way did they go? “

Toward the nebula outside of the Saxue system, according to the data we are getting.”

“Hmmmm, a good place to look.”

“I would agree but we know that Izar was their first target and that to me is a bit far out for a staging area. If it were me, I would have wanted to stage someplace a bit closer, someplace that I could set up and safely control the area without having to worry about being found or about things outside of my control. No, I think they staged somewhere around this boundary area. There has to be a reason why Star Fleet Intelligence thinks this was the boundary versus farther out. “

“Austin stood and walked over to the science console. “Makes sense, but there is a lot of open space out here.”

Eric stood and went to stand beside the Helm central console. “Ops, was there very much traffic between Izar and Saxue.”

The gold tunic Ferengi looked through their holographic display toward the captain. ”Yes sir, it looks like a regular flow of traffic.”

“Any reports from them, anything out of the norm before Izar was attacked, did they report anything on their sensors that was not there before.”

“Pulling up the information now sir, I’ll put it on the main display.”

They watched as several traffic lanes appeared on the main display between the two systems; they then watched a ghostly green area outlined the width of the scannable area from the mentioned ships traveling between the two systems.”

“That’s what I thought, nothing. The dominion knew they would need to stay clear of those lanes if they wanted to stay undetectable.”

He bent over the back of Darame and looked at the helm officer’s map display. “I guess that they staged somewhere closer, somewhere that was unexpected.” he pointed at the Ciatar Nebula “somewhere close to that.”

“Tactical, triangulate the following locations, Izar system, Lungurn system, Leonis system, and the Nasera system.”

“On it, sir”

They watched as the computer started to draw four lines from those locations, which slowly started to work themselves out as the computer worked through the data to figure out the most likely routes from the locations to a central point. As they watched, the lines snapped into being; Eric pointed at the screen as he put a hand on Darame’s shoulder.

“There, that’s where we go. The most likely launch point for the systems we know that they attacked and brought under their control in the area.”

“Yes, sir. Plotting the coordinates now.”

They felt the Aztec veer hard toward starboard and enter warp.

ABELOTH-AM-4(Aztec)

Captain log supplemental.

We have been in the area determined by the computer to be the most likely launching point for attacks on the nearby systems. As of yet, we have not found anything. Though the question persists, what are we looking for? Infrastructure such as a station? A lone ship? Alternatively, could it be as small as a beacon, set to mark a particular location, just floating in space? No one in the local task force/group has yet been able to answer that question. I for one hope we are not out here on a wild goose chase.

Operationally speaking we have set our sensor array to cast as wide a net as possible. With so many questions on what we are looking for, I have also tasked Lieutenant Th’taasrehr, Shralal to lead a small team with the task of combing through data from the Dominion War to look for anything that could give us a clue as to what to look for.

Computer end log.

Eric stood, grabbed the half-empty mug, and walked over to the lone window that his ready room had. Taking a long sip from his mug, he looked out amongst the stars. “Where are you?” he asked as he heard a beep emulate from the door. “Enter.”

He turned as Andorian in the gold tunic of a tactical officer entered the ready room while looking down at his PADD. “Sorry sir, I hope I am not interrupting anything, but you said that if we found anything to let you know.”

“That was quick. So what have you come up with?”

“Well sir, we asked ourselves how we would set up an area command and control and logistical hub. One way is that the fleet would set up a central point, usually by bringing with them something like a Naredra class station.”

“And the other is to just park an Odyssey class in the area,” Eric said as he sat behind his desk. “ I was thinking along the same lines just now. The question is would they have left such a ship?”

“That is the question, though another thought we had was what if they used the ship as a base to build from?”

“Hmmm, something that could become permanent over time. Would make sense especially once you gained control over the area. Would also speak to why they attacked Izar and Nasera, two of the largest producers in the region.”

“Yes, sir”

“Good work, Lieutenant. That will give us something to work off of, let alone look for.”

“Yes, sir”

Eric nodded as he thought about what the ensign had brought to him. “Contact Izar and find out if the lost fleet acquired anything that could answer the question.” Eric looked toward the window. “Speaking as an engineer, If I were a mobile force that originally was supposed to join up with the main force I would think that the idea of bringing something like a Naredra kit with them would make the most sense. A ship would be temporary but something like a Naredra would give them the base of operations that they could use to assert control over a region.”

Sir, wouldn’t something like that stand out though?”

“It should, and that’s what is bothering me. Why have we not found it yet? Are we looking in the wrong area?”

“I don’t believe so, sir. The data suggests that something should be out here.”

“Agreed. Go ahead and continue looking at the historical data. See if you can find anything that would help us figure out what we are looking for.”

“Yes, sir.”

—————————————————-

Austin sat in the central chair as the beta shift crew went about their business around him.

“Maybe, we are looking for the wrong thing. “he muttered to himself.

“What was that, sir?”

“Oh, nothing… well maybe it is…something.” he turned toward the science officer.

“Would a signature for something that has been destroyed or broken apart give the same signals as something that is still in one piece?”

“No, sir. They would be different.”

“I understand that it would be different but would or could it mask what used to be there.”

“Yes sir, if it was into a wide enough debris field it may not fully register on the sensors or it may read as something else entirely. What I mean is that the sensors and the computer may overlook the signal as something that does not fit what we have asked it to look for.”

Austin steeped his fingers under his chin. “What better way to make something disappear than to actually make it disappear.”

“Sir, the sensors would have picked up the energy signature though. Unless…” the science officer started to pull up information on their holographic displays. “No, nope, no. Well, hold on maybe, ahhh no that was already marked by the Izar.” As he started going through the previous data

“Well sir, what we do know about the dominion is very scant and mostly from remnants of the last war.” he started to quickly say before he stopped as the console beeped “Well hold on what have we here.” he looked at the latest data coming in.

“What is it, Lieutenant?”

“There is something just now popping up on the very fringe of the long-range sensors. I made a few adjustments to the data and now the computer is giving us a possible hit.”

“What is it?”

“Not sure yet to tell the truth, but whatever it is is big.”

“Show me” as he quickly got up and walked over towards the science console.

“Hmmmmm that’s two days away at warp.”

“Give or take a few hours.”

“Send those coordinates to the helm.”

“Helm, plot a new course to the coordinates that science is sending you. Warp 8.” as he tapped on his combadge. “Captain, we may have found something on the sensors just now. Coordinates have been laid in so we can go take a look.” The Aztec gave that slight vibration that most ships do as they enter warp.

“Very well, I’m on my way up.”

ABELOTH – AM – 5

“Captain, the last group of refugees have been transported,” Sustrum announced

“Very well, I hope the work that Meadow and her team did doesn’t hinder the resettlement of the refugees. They asked for a lot, hard to believe that command agreed to it all.”

“Yes ma’am”

“Let’s hope that the dinner tonight goes without a hitch so that we can close out the resettlement negotiations.”

“Captain, incoming message from the Aztec. Looks like they have found something.”

“Well that’s interesting, did they say what?”

“No, only that they picked something up on their sensors and have decided to go take a look.”

“Well, that may change some things.” as she tapped her combadge. “Meadow, Aryanna. Please come to the bridge as soon as you are able.”

“Not the best time, captain. Is it something we handle from here?”

“I would rather not.”

“Crap, I’m on my way.”

Several minutes later, a disheveled Meadow entered the bridge.

“Sorry for how I look, but trying to fix any loose ends before this dinner…” she shook her head

“I’m not worried about how you look, What I need now is your brain?” She gave her the rundown of the latest information from the Aztec. “As you can probably tell this raises some questions.”

“Yes, it does. Though I think that this dinner is or could be rather important in the overall scheme of things, could go a long way in starting to fix the reputation of Star Fleet in the eyes of the residents of the region.”

Aryanna sat back in the center chair and nodded. “True, but if the Aztec…”

“That’s a big if, they don’t even know yet. Cancelling the dinner now may..” she shrugged her shoulders.

“I guess you’re right, though I think we need to prepare for an immediate departure once the dinner is complete.”

Meadow chuckled. “You were hoping to get out of it, weren’t you? Hoping that the information would persuade me to cancel?”

“Well….I mean come on who wants to be around a bunch of diplomats all night? Boring speeches with boring people followed by boring talk. Plus, the search for what the dominion left behind is our primary mission, let’s not forget that.”

“Oh… I have not forgotten. Nevertheless, no way am I going to throw all this work away on a ghost chase. Even with the dinner, we will only be a few hours behind them. Not like they will find much in that amount of time.”

Aryanna reached over and pulled up a map displaying the region with known ship locations marked. “Sustram, recall all shuttles and away teams once they are complete with their current mission. Cancel all further Angel deployments and call back any that are out on patrol.”

“Yes, ma’am”

“Comms, two things. First, Let the Aztec know that we received and acknowledge their last transmission, and inform them that once we are finished here we will be heading in their direction. Second let the fleet know that the Dragon squadron will be forming up at a possible dominion site, no further information at this time.”

“Yes, captain”

“Viameli, did we get the location coordinates?”

“Yes, ma’am.”

“Good, good. I want us ready to leave the moment that the dinner is finished and the Izar delegation has left.”

“Sounds like you have a dinner to finish getting set up, Grab Lieutenant Thorn to assist you.”

“Already have.”

“And I guess I have just enough time to find my dress uniform and make myself… presentable,” Aryanna said with a sigh. “I am not looking forward to this, it’s not the dinner it’s the damn small talk that bothers me.”

“Just smile and at least look like you’re interested, it’s only for a couple of hours.” Meadow looked at her with a slight smile.

—————————————————-

The small delegation of senior officers watched as the delegation from Izar made their way onto the transporter pads. Hands were shaken and pleasantries were given as the Izar delegation took their places.

“Chief, when you’re ready,” Aryanna said to the beta shift transporter chief, as he nodded and checked the final parameters for the delegation. He reached over and tapped the console as the delegation slowly dematerialized in a flash of white.

“Well…” Aryanna started as he looked toward Meadow and Lieutenant Thorn.

“I think it went quite well, Captain. I was even surprised by the gift.” They all looked at the rolled parchment currently in Lieutenant Thorn’s hand. “Nice of them to create a copy of the agreement for the Dragons crew.”

“Lieutenant, make sure that gets framed in something fitting and displayed in the main crew mess.”

“Yes ma’am”

Aryanna reached up and unbuttoned the jacket’s top few buttons.” Phew, now I can breathe. Damn dress uniforms are so stiff.”

The other three officers did the same feeling it was ok since the captain had.

Aryanna tapped her combadge.” Captain, bridge”

“Yes ma’am”

“Is everyone onboard?”

“Yes, ma’am the last shuttle docked a few minutes ago.”

Aryanna nodded. “Did security do a final walk-through to make sure no one was left behind?”

“Just completed ma’am.”

Aryanna let out a long sigh. “Good, good, we are on our way up.”

“Meadow, you’re with me. Madison, you’re good for the night, see you in the morning.”

“Yes, ma’am” as Lieutenant Thorn turned and made her way to the turbolift.

Aryanna looked over at Meadow. “Thanks for the advice, by the way.”

“What advice was that?”

“To smile and look interested. Got me through a few tough moments during the dinner.”

Meadow chuckled. “Always worked for me, do you think I like every negotiation I enter? Sometimes you just have to suck it up, nod when you are supposed to, and smile. Make them think you’re paying attention when all you’re doing is trying to figure out how to get away.”

Aryanna let out a chuckle. As she led them toward the turbolift.

“Bridge”

“Captain on the bridge.” was announced as the captain’s whistle sounded and they stepped off the bridge.

“As you were” they watched as the beta shift crew went back to what they had been doing as the Lieutenant continued to stand in front of the central chair.”

“Captain” as they offered the ring.

“Thank you, lieutenant.” she took the seat and Meadow took hers.

“Is the ship ready?”

“Yes ma’am. All shuttles and personnel are onboard and all systems are showing green across the board.” the Lieutenant now standing to her left said.

“Helm, let’s take her to Warp Nine and see if we can make up some time.”

“Yes, ma’am”

They felt the ship slightly vibrate as the command was given, and watched as the ship entered warp.

“Shall we go see if we can reach Captain Mathisson and find out what the latest is?” Aryanna stood and handed the ring to the Lieutenant, “You have the conn. We will be in my ready room for a bit.”

“Yes ma’am”

As she made her way toward her ready room, entered and undid the jacket the rest of the way. “Grab a seat, Meadow” as she went to the sitting area, pulled the tunic from the back of the couch, and quickly changed.

Meadow could not help but notice the scarring along the arm over the top of the black glove.

Aryanna walked over to the replicator, ordered, and received a glass of water. Then she walked over, sat in the chair behind the desk, and tapped a button on the console.

“Comms, open a channel with the Aztec and send it to my ready room.”

“Yes, Captain.”

A few seconds later the console beeped as the comms channel was opened. “Captain Mathisson, it’s Captain Rigras. Just wanted to reach out and see what the latest is.”

“We are still gathering data, but it’s looking like some sort of debris field.”

“Are you reading any type of energy signature?”

“Nothing as of yet.”

“That’s odd”

“Yes, it is”

Aryanna and Meadow look at each other with raised eyebrows.

Meadow leaned onto the desk. “Any ideas?”

“Not many, as someone with an engineering background a few come to mind but I would like more data. I am going to drop us from warp at a short-range sensor distance. Take a look before we go all the way in; make sure we aren’t walking into something.”

“Sounds like we have a mystery on our hands.” Aryanna added, “Though I would ask that you hold there till we arrive. We can use the Angels to take a closer look.”

“Will do…”

ABELOTH-AM-6

“Blue three, you’re with me. Blue two and four. Take the outer ring of the area; we will take the inner. If you find anything, mark it for the Aztec.

“Roger, that blue leader. Going to look at that item at coordinates 80 mark 20. Looks to be a rather large piece of whatever this was.”

“Be careful and keep your eyes on a swivel.”

“Yes, sir.”

The Andorian lieutenant watched as the two other Valkyrie fighters peeled off from the four-ship formation. “Ok, Tom, what do we have?”

“I’m still not showing anything on the scans, odd still not reading any weapon energy signatures. Hold on got something, it’s faint though.”

“What is it?” as he could hear the ensign tapping on his console located behind him.

“Not sure, it is faint and small. I do not think it is an energy source. Too small for that. “

“Well let’s go take a look, won’t figure it out just sitting here.” as the fighter surges forward and goes into a climbing turn.”

“Damn, whatever this was, it would have been at least the size of a Vision class. Judging from the size of the debris.,” the Andorian pilot said as he bobbed and weaved his way through the debris field.

”Aztec – Dragon, are you receiving the data?”

“Aztec is receiving, so is the Dragon. Lieutenant Scamndrius says he would agree with your assessment lieutenant.”

The Andorian nodded as he brought the fighter to a stop at the coordinates that his Weapons System Officer had given him.

“Ok, then. Let’s see what we have.” Tom said as he started pulling up the data.

———————————–

The team in the Dragons intelligence lab was huddled around the main central console as the data started to build a 3D representation of the debris field on the lab’s main display.

“Looks like we have a large puzzle here.” the Ensign in science blue stated as he leaned over the console to take a closer look. “If this is a station where is engineering? That should be where the core is.”

“True, but look at this, no energy signature of the magnitude needed to power a station.” The display started to cycle through the larger pieces of debris as it checked and cross-checked for known dominion energy signatures.”

“According to the data it was powered, as we can now see the remnants of a power signature, but it is so faint.” a lieutenant in engineering gold stated. “We think the multiple faint signatures that the Angels found might have been some sort of scuttling charge. Set to break up the station into smaller pieces, though we think that not all of them were set off hence why we have some larger pieces still here.”

“That would make sense.” Lieutenant Scamandrius sat in one of the chairs located behind the console and ran a hand over his face and hair. “Computer, can you rebuild the station using the data to extrapolate the approximate location of all the pieces.” They watched as the computer started to try to piece the puzzle back together. “This may take a bit.” as he looked at the team around him. So what else do we have? I need to tell the captains something.”

“Well, sir. If we could figure out a way to make them safe. These three pieces, “as three of the larger pieces highlighted on the display. “Could be large enough to warrant away team investigations. Of course, they will need to be in environmental suits. We believe that this one here “one of the pieces flashed as he typed on the console. “Might be of interest as it seems like there are quite a few remnants of energy signatures, now that we know what to look for, that seems to be centralized in this general area.” a red dot appeared over a location within the debris piece.

“Well, that’s a start.” Scamandrius made a note on his PADD.

They watched as the computer busily tried to fit pieces together, spinning pieces and the overall display along multiple different axis.

“Anything else”

“Not at this time, till we can get someone over there we are just trying to put the pieces together,” the lieutenant in engineering gold said.

“One thing for sure,” an ensign in science blue said from beside Scamandrius. “We don’t think this was meant to be a permanent station or if it was it was meant to be built off of.”

“How so?” Scamandrius said as he looked at the Ensign.

“Simple logistics sir, they could only bring what they could carry or pull. Therefore, this had to be some sort of kit. And you would have had to take its crew from the ships that brought it, so it probably did not have that big of a crew onboard…”

Scamndrius held up a hand and looked around the team. “This could explain something. Let’s work this angle, shall we”

“Computer, show us all known warp signatures in the area.”

They watched as lots of warp signatures and trails populated the map area around the probable station being pieced together. “Take out the Aztec’s, Dragons, and Angel’s signatures.” they watched as the strongest signatures disappeared from the display. “Now, using the known data on the dominion and their energy type show us the oldest known signatures.”

They watched as roughly four signatures were left around the area of the debris field.

“Sir, those are not the typical battleships of the dominion. I don’t recognize the ship class.” an ensign in security gold stepped forward and looked at the data via the central console.

“Well, we always figured that they had to have more than just the ones we faced in battle.”

“Those ships seem rather large don’t they?” another science officer in blue asked.

“They do.” the engineering lieutenant stated. “Larger than our California classes, maybe more akin to an engineering spec Olympic class.”

————————————

Scamandrius stood next to the display in the Captain’s ready room as he went through the latest information that his intelligence team was able to put together.

“So as we can see, what we have here is the remnants of a small but decently sized station. The information we have been able to gather, with the help of the angels and the Aztec has placed its size to be near to our Vision class station, maybe a bit larger. We think that these five pieces could be of interest in regards to further investigation.”

Aryanna leaned forward in her seat “What type of investigations are we talking about, away teams?”

Scamndrius nodded, “Yes, these three are big enough that away teams wearing environmental suits should be able to gain entrance.” as three of the larger pieces popped out of the larger overall picture. This one is of particular interest due to their being remnants of energy signatures converging within it.” one of the pieces glowed slightly brighter than the other two.

Eric, captain of the Aztec, looked at his PADD. “Do you think this is the engineering section?”

Scamandrius shrugged “I for one cannot say for sure, it’s one reason why we have picked that section out as a possible mission target. We have asked Chief Zhaishi to have a look at the data as we still have no energy signatures of size or strength to be the station’s primary energy source.”

Eric nodded, “Have they had any ideas?”

As he asked, the door chime sounded announcing someone asking to enter the room.

“Enter, ahhh speak of the devil.” the Dragons Orion chief engineer entered the captain’s ready room.”

“So what did I miss? Did scama tell you? We think we might have figured out why we haven’t found a power core for this station.”

Aryanna and Eric looked at each other.

“And?”

“What if the station didn’t have one? At least not in this phase.”

Eric stood and walked toward the display. “What are your thoughts?”

“A multi-phase build. When we went back through the data and looked at the puzzle, we found several open junction points that seemed to not be completed.”

“Interesting”

“Another idea is that a station of that size may not need a power core or computer core of its own, what if they borrowed one so to speak.”

“Are you thinking that they powered the station with one or more of these ships?”

“It’s a working theory, sir. Look what happens if you fast-forward the warp signatures in the area. You will notice that over the lost fleet operation, two of the ships stay while the others leave at different times. Then the last two ships leave roughly a week after the battle at Farpoint.”

“Well, that would explain some things.”

“As I’m sure Scama has already mentioned, we believe that this section here. “She pointed at the highlighted section. “Was or is the start of the station’s engineering section, you’ll notice that there are quite a few power junctions in this section and we found several infrastructure junction points in this area.” She looked at the two captains and took a seat on the room’s couch beside the Scamandrius.

Eric returned to his seat and took a sip from the tall glass on the desk.

“She builds an interesting case for that section, Aryanna.”

Aryanna nodded “So Eric does the crew of the Aztec want to handle that particular piece and the Dragon will handle the other two.”

“We can do that.”

“Zhaishi, I want you to coordinate from here.”

“Yes, ma’am”

“We will use shuttles to carry the teams over to the sections if that works for you, Eric.”

Eric nodded and tapped on his combadge. “Lieutenant Rocholdt, prepare an away team for extravehicular activities. Dragon will be coordinating with Lieutenant Zhaishi in charge.”

“Roger, team makeup?”

“Let’s go with engineers, I would prefer a structural engineer to be on the team along with someone good with power generation systems. We have questions that we need to find answers to.”

“Yes, sir”

“Well, I guess this would be a good time to notify command. Let them know what we have found.” Aryanna said as she looked at the small group in her office.

“I think we have enough information to get the ball rolling from their end.” Eric nodded from his seat as he typed on his PADD.

“Captain, we may have to start thinking about what comes next. We know that other entities are looking for things such as this. I’m sure sooner or later we will get noticed by someone, especially with those Ferengi already in the area.” Scamandrius said.

“Good point, Lieutenant.”

Aryanna leaned forward in her chair and started to type something on her console, after several minutes she spun it toward Eric so he could read the message and add anything he thought might be needed. Taking a minute or two to read the message, he nodded.

“Looks good to me.”

ABELOTH -AM-7

“Lieutenant, we are sixty seconds out from the piece bravo. Coming up on the starboard side.”

“Thank you, Ensign.” The Lieutenant said as she looked out the shuttle’s front viewing panels. She picked up her helmet from the port side station behind the helm officer’s seat and headed toward the small group standing beside the starboard airlock. “Sixty seconds out. Systems check.”

The three members of the small team quickly checked their suits to make sure that all systems were green and that they were ready. Each in turn gave the Lieutenant a thumbs up and a quick “Good.”

The four team members entered the airlock putting their helmets on as they did so.

“Comms check Aztec one, Jaguar.”

“We read you loud and clear, Lieutenant.”

“Aztec one, Dragon.”

“This is Lieutenant Zhaishi on the Dragon and we read you loud and clear, all systems are reading green on our end.”

“Very well, Jaguar we are a go for the mission”

“Roger, systems are green on our end; you are good to move over to the debris section. We are currently sitting ten meters from the designated entry point. We will hold a position here.”

The airlock’s lights go from red to white an audible hiss are heard as the shuttle’s starboard hatch opens showing the short jump to the targeted entry point. The team makes the short jump into the waiting darkness of the opened section. As each one makes contact their magnetic boots lock on and hold. As the four members light up the dark interior.

“Dragon, we are all in position and ready to enter.”

——————————————–

Zhaishi looked on as the three teams either entered or made their way deeper into their assigned sections. Watching the main displays set up in the room as each of the team’s different camera views came into view, her crew of engineers and science officers steadily watched.

“Dragon main this is Dragon Two Bravo, we are entering a large open room, there looks to be several consoles in here.”

They watched and listened as Dragon 2 entered the pitch-black room eerily lit by their suit lamps, showing beams of light across the room.

“This is Dragon Two Charlie, going to try to see if I can hack into one of them and see if we can find anything.”

“Going to try and connect this power source to their systems.” another camera showed a crate being set down beside one of the consoles.

“Dragon this is Aztec one, we have entered into some sort of hallway. Looks to have smaller rooms on either side. They look to be something akin to labs from what we could tell. We are heading towards priority room alpha. Ensign Simmons says that he is reading some residual power signatures along the port side wall.”

“Copy that Aztec one, continue with the current route, and let us know if you find anything.”

The science officer turned toward Lieutenant Zhaishi, “Aztec one reports possible residual energy signatures.”

Lieutenant Zhaishi looked over at that set of cameras and incoming data. “Show me”

She watches as a line of data from a tricorder comes across the display. “Hmmmmm” she pointed at the data. “Looks to be something akin to what the dominion used, but something is different. Look here and here.” as she pointed out a couple of spikes in the data “That’s not typical dominion power signatures.”

“Hmmmm, no, those look like federation power signatures.”

“Yes, they do. Don’t they? Which brings up its own set of questions.”

As the Lieutenant turned toward the set of displays with the cameras from Dragon 1. “Anything?”

“No ma’am, but they think they entered on a lower level, they report that the rooms that they have found so far look to be bunk rooms and offices. They think that there may be another level or two above them. They are trying to find a way up.”

Zhaishi reaches down and hits a button on the console over the officer’s shoulder “Dragon, Ying Long.”

“Go for the Ying Long.”

“Ensign, can you see another entry point higher up?”

“No. ma’am. Not from what we can see, there looks to be no other way besides the one that the team used.”

“Roger that, guess they will have to find a way into the higher levels from their end.”

———————————————————

“Lieutenant, I’ve gained access to the console. It is intermittent at best, as the power source is not fully compatible but it looks like they were working on a way to integrate federation technology into their own. “

“Send anything you get to the Dragon, can you read any of it?”

“It’s in bits and pieces at best, I am recognizing several of the system names in the Deneb Region though.” A piecemeal map of the region appears on a large view screen behind them. “Ahh, what have we here?” the lieutenant said as they made their way to the screen followed by another officer.

“This is the Deneb region.” They point out several known locations within the region. As they look at the screen it quickly goes disjointed and changes to lines of code of some sort before the map comes back, this happens every couple of minutes as the team starts to gather what information they can from the console.

The officer turned from the console “I’m seeing several maps, some of local systems, some of known Breen space, along with information that I cannot read at this time.

The lieutenant nodded, “Get what you can. We got some more to do.”

“Yes, sir. Though I believe this room will have the information that we are looking for,” they said as they continued to work with the console and their PADD.

The lieutenant nodded, as they walked around the room looking at the other consoles. “What are you thinking?”

“Looking at those maps and the other data we are getting I would guess that this room might have been some sort of operations section. I’m sending the information to the Dragon as we speak. Hopefully, they can figure out what this all is.”

“Ensign Wilson take Ensign Sanders and check out that hallway on the port side. I’ll stay here with Ensign Pialk”

“Yes, sir.”

ABELOTH-AM-8

“Lieutenant. We are working on the data from team two. Looks like they may be right though. The data seems to correlate to known lost fleet operations.”

“Good, good.”

“Lieutenant, we may have something here.” an ensign in engineering gold said from another group.

Zhaishi made her way over to the group. “What have you got?”

“Well, we are still trying to make sense of the data but we think there might be some information on the station itself.” The engineer spoke as they pulled up the lines of data on the table’s main console showing the Lieutenant. “Basic schematics and plans. One interesting piece we have been able to glean so far is that they had always known that they could not bring a full station with them. It looks like they had schematics for expansion.”

“And?”

“Well, it would explain some things. It looks like it was always their plan to hit industrial centers first and bring them under their control so that they could use them to build.”

“One piece we have figured out though, is they took the power core with them along with all other vital systems.”

Zhaishi spent the next several minutes with the engineering team going over the data with them.

————————————————————–

“Captain, the Aztec is reporting that their away team is back onboard. They are heading toward their mission debriefing with Lieutenants Zhaishi and Scamandrius, who are transporting over to the Aztec as we speak.”

“Thank you, Sustram, any news from our away teams?” Aryanna asked as she took a seat in the center chair.

Yes ma’am. Team 1 is heading back to the Dragon as we speak. According to their latest reports, team two will be staying a bit longer at their location.”

Aryanna looked at the main view screen as they slowly circled the area of what remained of the station. “Comms, open a channel with Lieutenant Spufylk.”

“Channel open, captain.”

“Lieutenant Spufylk, Captain Rigras. What is your status?”

“Captain, we have found what looks to be several rooms that Lieutenant Scamandrius and his section believe to be a possible operations control hub. So logically, they have asked us to investigate further.

“Very well. Keep Lieutenant Sustram informed. ”

“Will do, captain”

Aryanna looked over at Skagath and Meadow who were looking at the holo display from tactical. “Getting anywhere with the information coming from team two?”

“It seems to be mostly what we already knew up to the battle at Farpoint, though as the intelligence brain trust goes over it I’m sure they will find more, lass,” Skagath said as he looked at the data.

“Captain…”

Aryanna looked at Meadow with a raised eyebrow, knowing that she only would use the rank if it were something of importance that she wanted to convey.

“They were definitely in a rush, we can tell that from what they left. It is what they did not leave behind that has us puzzled. It looks to me like they left just enough breadcrumbs for us to know what they had been up to but not what was next. So much of the information has been redacted, it’s just not there.” Meadow said as she looked over at the captain.

“Would you expect anything less? I would think that it is what we would do if we were faced with the same circumstances.

Meadow nodded “It makes sense from a certain standpoint. However, why leave the station for us to find, even if it is in pieces? Why not just destroy the station?

“Now that is the question, isn’t it? Why leave this here for us to find? They must have known we would come looking. Unless…”

Meadow looked at the main view screen and then over toward the now empty intelligence console. “We were supposed to find it.”

“Smoke and mirrors, they wanted us to find this. If we are right, they probably thought it would have been sooner.

“Comms open a direct channel to Lieutenants Scamandrius and Zhaishi.”

“Channel open, ma’am”

“Sorry to disturb you lieutenant but we have been discussing the matter on this side as well and something suddenly dawned on us. What if this station was nothing but a ruse? “

“A what?”

“A fake, something to draw us away from what was going on. We just came a little later than they had thought we would.”

“Hmm, it’s a thought. Would make a good way to tie up a ship or two. Would also make a good ambush site.”

“I’m willing to bet this was originally done to tie up a ship or two before or during the battle at Farpoint.”

“If that was the case I doubt we will find anything of much use here, it would make sense for them to have left some crumbs but nothing of substantial use. What has team two come up with?”

“Nothing new as of this point, I’m considering calling them back.”

“If I may make a recommendation captain, let them finish. You never know what may have been left behind accidentally or what slipped through the cracks.”

“I will take it under advisement. Dragon out.”

————————————————————————–

“Captains log,

“It has been seventy-two hours since we have found the remains of the lost fleet station. We have been investigating several possible avenues of information that have been left behind.

We have come to think that this station was left in its current state on purpose. That purpose as of this time is unknown; we have our thoughts as to its purpose.

We are currently on our way back to Farpoint station to brief the region’s task force leadership on our findings. The Aztec departed roughly twelve hours ahead of the Dragon and is currently making its way back towards the Thomar Expanse after a planned brief stop at Deep Space Nine.”

Aryanna looked out her viewing panel and reached for her now cold cup of coffee, taking a sip and grimacing as she stood and made her way toward her ready room’s replicator. Placing the cup on the replicator’s pad and watching it dissolve into the system she looked around the room and wondered.

Wondered about the lost fleet’s intentions, what were they up to? What was their end goal? Hitting a preprogrammed button on the replicator, she took the glass of water back to her desk and she took her seat as the room’s chime sounded.

“Enter”

She watched as Meadow entered the room followed by Lieutenants Scamndrius and Zhaishi.

“We just finished going through the data that we found, captain. I believe our assessment is correct. This station was a ruse. We are not sure if that was its original intended purpose or not. If it were my guess, I would say not. I think we, bravo fleet, reacted faster than they thought we would. Oh, they knew that eventually, Star fleet would react but they thought that by then they along with their Breen counterparts would have made the region unstable. “Scamandrius said as he placed a PADD on the captain’s desk before taking a seat.

Taking a seat opposite Scamandrius, Zhaishi let out a sigh as she shook her head. “I would recommend that the local task force send out an investigations team of their own to take over from where we left off. I stated as much in the report.,” She pointed at the PADD on the captain’s desk. “Looking at the data from an engineering standpoint I would say that the station was more than likely abandoned sometime around the lost fleet’s move toward Farpoint.

“Guess they figured either way that things went the station would no longer be needed. If things went their way they gained Farpoint and if not they knew that they would no longer be able to operate in the Deneb region.” Aryanna finished for Zhaishi as she picked up the PADD and started to read the report.

“That’s what we think,” Zhaishi stated

“We sent the intelligence to both Farpoint and Star fleet, though I doubt they will find more than we did. It seems like they did a good job of leaving only what they wanted us to find. Though maybe they can piece it together with other bits to fill in the holes.” Scamandrius shrugged his broad shoulders. “We have a good setup here on the Dragon, probably amongst the best in the fleet, and we receive priority message traffic from Star fleet but even with that said we are a forward deployed ship and there is some information that they will just not send out even over encrypted communications.”

“We understand, lieutenant. You did the best you could but as you said sometimes Star Fleet likes to hold their cards close to their chest.” Aryanna said as she put the PADD down and took a sip from the glass.

“Looks like we should be arriving at Farpoint in roughly twenty-four hours, Lieutenant Scamandrius and Lieutenant Zhaishi, I would like you both there for the mission debrief. Until then you are free to return to your assigned duties. Meadow, please stay a moment, I would like to go over the report and get your thoughts on a few other things.
