Wargames

September 5, 2025

Now that we are well into September, and four months removed from Nightfall and a month past Shore Leave, it’s time for a fun, new challenge for the Fourth Fleet. That challenge will be Wargames. This is a new type of event for us where we are going to shake things up a bit. Over the past few years, Bravo Fleet has been following the Fleet Action format, where it has been task force versus task force for all of the points, glory, and prestige. This time, we’re following a new format. Using a method that Slagar and I pioneered in another group over a decade ago, Wargames will follow a sports style draft format. Its a format I have been wanting to try in Bravo Fleet for years now and this seems like the best opportunity! The format is as follows:

  • Two teams, each with two co-captains;
  • Each team will be drafted round robin style, where one team goes first, followed by the other, followed by the original; who goes first will be determined by a !roll on Discord, by which team gets a higher roll;
  • During the draft, each team will get 1 selection at a time as determined by the co-captains;
  • Selections continue until all active members have been drafted into one of the two teams; and
  • Post-draft, any new members to Bravo Fleet will go to the team that did not pick last, alternating between the two teams as new people join.

The two teams are Blue Squadron, led by Admiral Alexander Beckett and Fleet Captain Callen Varro, and Gold Squadron, led by Admiral Liam Dahlgren and Fleet Admiral Luke Duncan. We completed the draft over a voice call last Sunday, with Gold Squadron drafting first after a roll win. The full rosters of both teams can be found here! TFCO vs TFXO, TGCO vs TGCO, BFSSer vs BFSSer! Chaos! Mayhem! But the truth of the matter is that this format allows you to also interact with people you may not normally interact with, the hope being that these friendships extend beyond the Wargames event. Each team will have its own private Discord area to pump each other up and get to know one another, as well!

So what is Wargames beyond the new team dynamic, exactly? A simple concept. A competition-only team head-to-head, where the team with the most points at the end wins. The competitions are crafted to be simple, easy to do, and not very time consuming. The name of the game is participation and team spirit, and the timing is specifically at the end of September to help people take their minds off the back-to-school grind. Each phase will last one week, with each phase housing eight competitions each.

Scoring will be very simple: 5 points for a valid entry, +1 point for 3rd place, +2 points for 2nd place, +3 points for 1st place. For the winning team, each active participant will receive a one time 2,000 prestige bonus; for the losing team, each active participant will get a one time 1,000 prestige bonus. “Active participant” is defined as someone who has submitted at least one entry per phase of Wargames. The overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will receive a one time bonus prestige of 3,000, 2,000, and 1,000 each, respectively.

Competitions will be loaded into BFMS this weekend and the week coming up, with the launch date of Wargames set for September 14th server time. The weekend between the two phases will also be the partner event from the Security Office, the 2402 Security Summit, on September 20th. Look for an announcement from the Security Office soon for more details about that! If you’re a gamer of any sort, you won’t want to miss it.

May the best team win!
