Summary Quick Hits

  • In total, Sundered Wings generated 3323.5 Points from 461 Entries, which is up from last year’s Fleet Action, Echoes of the Tkon, by about 11.5%. Add to this the fact that we offered fewer competitions per phase this year, and you can easily see just how successful Sundered Wings turned out to be!
  • In the end, the name of the game proved to be participation, not placement. This has held true so far through all three Fleet Actions.
  • As you can see from the point spread, Task Force 47 absolutely went ham. This was due to participation. Most other Task Forces had about the same number of participants, but TF47 had participants who did a lot of competitions and/or writing!
  • This Fleet Action also generated our first (and far only) 100% Fleet Action participant, Alexandra Sudari-Kravchik! Big shout out to McGig for this accomplishment! It may not seem like much, but not only is he the first and only but his placing first overall is something that really just goes to show how important participating and being a part of the process is in a Fleet Action!
  • We are also drastically down on the number of entries that got disqualified. I count this as a resounding success for both the competition runners better explaining what is desired, and the entrants taking in those instructions!
  • Boy, did Bravo Fleet do some writing. During Sundered Wings, Bravo Fleet wrote an estimated 543,000 words in 6 weeks! Also a huge shout out to Peter Crawford who was responsible for 78,000 words which made up just under 15% of the total! Is Bravo Fleet solely a writing group anymore? No, we do so much more, now! Do we seemingly do more writing than anyone else in The Wider Community™? Looks like it!
  • Requests have been made to publish some of the Twitter, Fun With Flags, and similar competition entries. We’ve decided to spread them out a bit, so each competition runner that has something like this to display will do so in their upcoming reports and announcements! So look for these from Comms, Ops, Lore, Gaming, etc! Also, look for more in-depth stats for how each area of the fleet did during Sundered Wings! So look for the upcoming reports from each department. They’ll also break down each of their respective stats a little more than I have.
  • All Gold, Silver, and Bronze Stars for placements as well as Challenge Coins for participation will be handed out throughout the next week. This is a laborious process, so please bear with us and the Office of the Chief of Staff as we through them all.

Executive Battlefield Promotions

As you’re all aware, each TF had a chance for battlefield promotions during each Phase of Sundered Wings. This has become a staple of Fleet Actions, now. Last year, Emily and I did “executive” ones to show our appreciation for members of the leadership team. I held off on doing them this year until the end. I’ve actually gone back and forth a few times about bending my own “rules” on these to include a 4th or 5th. But in the end, I decided it would be fair to stick to just 3 — the same amount each task force had available to them. I tried to use them strategically on 3 individuals who not only excelled but who also weren’t necessarily “close” to promotion, time-wise. The time-in-grade for ranks is really to help slow some people down and let them enjoy the moment and fun, as it were, and spread out our ability to reward people long term. But in other cases, some people are so far above and beyond that it is almost painstaking to make them wait. So, the 3 executive battlefield promotions are:
