It’s been two years since the launch of Starbase Bravo as a writing sandbox where every member of Bravo Fleet is welcome to write and role-play together. That means it’s time for us to look back at Starbase Bravo’s successes and look forward to everything it can be in the future. For many of our new members, Starbase Bravo is where they first begin their writing and RP before discovering everything else the fleet has to offer. The manifest of Starbase Bravo is also filled with long-term mainstays of Bravo Fleet who eagerly welcome every new member who joins the crew.

YOU ARE THE CHAMPIONS

To celebrate two years of Starbase Bravo, we’re launching a series of competitions linked to Starbase Bravo and its current mission: Colloquium. We’re kicking it off with a six-week Duty Ribbon Race, as is traditional for SBB. We’re also challenging you all to a Service Ribbon Race at the same time!

The purpose for Starbase Bravo has been to tell slice-of-life collaborative stories about junior officers as they gradually prove themselves up the ranks. Promotions on Starbase Bravo have always been linked to joint-writing activity. The more SBB duty ribbons you earn, the higher tiers of positions that are unlocked to you. However, collaborative writing is all the more satisfying to both writers and readers when we’re invested in every single character. We encourage you to take advantage of solo writing through the Service Ribbon Race to delve into the heart of your Starbase Bravo characters and reveal secrets we never knew about them before!

Players are welcome to post their Discord RP in Starbase Bravo’s The Golden Apple to BFMS. Remember: to post the RP to Starbase Bravo, the story must feature approved SBB characters. Be sure to review Discord RP guidance and each competition’s criteria to ensure the story will count towards the Duty Ribbon Race.

For added fuel to the ribbon races, we’re launching an SBB Comment Challenge, because it’s always easier to write more when readers are offering feedback. So you might as well comment on every post you read, because you could make a new friend in the process!

Many more competitions will be following soon. Rumours on the promenade suggest you will see at least one graphics, bio, wiki and fiction competition before the ribbons races are complete.

ACADEMY RECRUITING

Bravo Fleet Academy is still recruiting staff assistants to support the onboarding of new cadets! For one, we’re looking for a Starbase Bravo staff assistant to engage with players and develop briefings for future SBB missions. We’re looking for staff members with GM experience or an otherwise demonstrated ability to generate story scenarios for a variety of members.

We’re also recruiting for Academy Staff Assistants to support the instruction of existing courses and the development of further courses. Ideally, our staff members would benefit from experience in Moodle or other learning management systems, experience in instructional design, or effective communicators who have a passion for mentoring and guiding eager learners. For those without instructional design experience, we’re looking for a demonstrated ability to offer inspiring and insightful feedback to others.
