Prodigal Offspring
Description
Star Trek Prodigy saw an unlikely crew of characters come together to pilot a Starfleet vessel, and later join Starfleet as cadets. We’ve all seen our Vulcans or our ship captains from Ohio (“I just work in space.”) but it’s important to diversify our crews.
For this competition, you must create a junior officer (cadet through to Lieutenant Junior Grade) who had joined up through a non-traditional path to Starfleet. Maybe they’re from a non-member race? Maybe they’ve had a career prior to Starfleet and have come to it later in life?
Add the character to your roster and flesh out their biography on the BFMS.
Criteria
- Write a fleshed-out and developed biography of a character with the maximum rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade.
- While the prompt is for a junior officer, there is no age limit given the variety of ages of various species in Star Trek, and an interesting character could be coming to Starfleet later in life. More important than a specific number is originality.
- The biography must be complete, with something in the overview, personality, appearance, and service record. Images are optional and will not be judged.
- The biography will be assessed on uniqueness, the mechanical and stylistic strength of the writing, the appropriateness for the setting and genre of Star Trek, and the realism of the character's history, service record, abilities, and personality vis-a-vis characters seen on screen in previous Trek.
- Any use of generative AI is forbidden.
