Due to the USS Buran‘s sensor and communication pallets, and her speed; she currently serves in the Essex Squadron as the Lead Scout vessel. Taken from her previous assignment, Commodore Maxwell personally chosen the senior staff to take command of the Buran. Most of them knew each other when they used to serve under him on the Essex. While there were many other Rhode Island-class ships available; the Buran was the one Maxwell wanted personally.

As of this moment, the Buran is conducting special operations with an Officer on the ground.

Essex Envoy Squadron

After the surprise attack on Commander Reade and Ford’s former starships that left them crippled, and the Essex arrived in response to their distress calls, Commodore Daniel Maxwell noticed something that he had feared would return. The cell group of the New Maquis that attacked, was none other than ‘The Ronin’; or at least they claimed that they were but Daniel didn’t want to believe it.

Upon request, Commodore Maxwell was given permission to form a squadron to try and hunt down this cell group. Their mission, locate and arrest the members of this cell and bring them to justice. Maxwell had also put in a request to both the Klingon Empire and Romulan Republic, in hopes to continue building relations with both empires.

As the last person took their seat, the room began to darken and the table came to life where the holoemitter in the center began to display the symbol of the New Maquis. Alongside the symbol, was the former Demilitarized Zone. Then finally, on the otherside of the former DMZ, was the Ronin symbol. [...]

47 years ago… Daniel looked at the dining room chair that had been pulled out and away from the table. This was done so by his parents, Robert and Julia Maxwell, so that the child they had a long conversation with would have the undivided attention of said child. That child would be him at [...]
