The U.S.S. Malinche (NCC-38997), the last of the original Excelsior-class ships to be refit in late 2399, spent much of the last couple of years primarily within Federation space, transporting flag officers and making typical supply runs to Federation colony worlds. After the Frontier Day incident in 2401, of which the Malinche was reassigned to Task Force 72 under the new command of Captain Sh’rra.
