U.S.S. Resolution dedication plaqueStarship U.S.S. Resolution/NCC-72705 was launched stardate 60500.5 from Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards, Mars, in the Sol Sector. It was built from the keel up as a new Rhode Island-class starship, rather than a refit of a Nova-class on which the Rhode Island was based. She was part of the initial run of 60 commissioned in 2383.

For nearly two decades, the Resolution has been a workhorse for Starfleet, acting as an escort, surveyor, patrol craft, scientific exploration vessel, research platform, ambassadorial transport, and any other assignment the fleet tossed her way.

Resolution‘s first commanding officer, who guided the ship through her shakedown, was Dominion War veteran Qitra Kiro. The Bolian commanded the Resolution for 10 years, and her record stands as the longest-tenured captain in the ship’s history. In the mid-2380s the Resolution, under Kiro’s command, saw action against pirates attempting to take advantage of the disarray in Romulan space following the Romulan supernova.

The Resolution‘s second decade saw multiple captains as the ship transferred among many fleets. She was seen, as many Rhode Island-class starships were, as a stepping stone for younger captains to more prominent commands. In 2402 the ship was transferred to the Fourth Fleet’s Task Force 93, given to newly-promoted Captain Gregory Conrad. The ship serves in the Nebula Exploratory Cruiser Division, under the U.S.S. Nebula’s commanding officer Captain Julius Ellingham.
