Summary
Elo is the Chief Science Officer of Eos Station. Bucking the trend of all science officers being nerds or Vulcans, Elo is a fantastically charismatic man. He easily bridges the gap between all the introverted scientists in the department and everyone else on the crew. He’s great at explaining complex scientific theories in simple terms, and getting people to work together.
Appearance
Tall, dark and handsome, Elo looks like he’s comfortable in any social situation from a beach to a boardroom. With an attractive face and a ready smile, he can easily win the favor of most species who have standard humanoid style communication. His posture is upright, confident and casual. His tone is warm and welcoming.
Personality
While Elo finds scientific research interesting in a compelling, challenging way, he can read social situations as easily as breathing. Owing to his Risian upbringing, Elo wants to bring harmony between people, and enjoys collaborating with his fellow crewmates. But, when needed, he can also turn his charisma into persuasive leadership and rally others to get things done.
Sometimes Elo is so preoccupied with ensuring everyone around him is getting what they need that he neglects his own needs. This is partly why he’s not risen in rank faster – sometimes unscrupulous officers take advantage of his gregarious and helpful nature to succeed with his help rather than helping him.
His easy attitude can also cause jealousy, something that Elo is largely unaware of. He assumes that if he means well for others that others automatically mean well for him. This is not always true.
History
The second oldest of five siblings and the oldest boy of the family, Elo grew up in a loving Risian home on the beaches of Lertania. His father was a general practitioner in the local medical system and his mother was a local tour guide. Elo loved accompanying his mother on tours and quickly took to talking to anybody and everybody from across the galaxy. Though interacting with so many tourists, Elo became interested in Starfleet and started to apply himself to his studies in the hopes that one day he could explore the galaxy. Perhaps he might have been a perfect choice for a counselor or diplomat, but he found the sciences intellectually challenging. Moreover, he found early success in scientific fields by being the person on the team who was excellent at communicating what the team had discovered to the outside world. This got him experience and some initial research jobs.
Eventually he was accepted into Starfleet Academy and did well. He wasn’t a top of the class student, but again he maintained high marks for communication and collaboration, which easily earned him a place on a research vessel after he graduated.
Elo has slowly worked his way up the ranks and now finds himself at Eos station ready to try his leadership skills on the frontier.
