Moop-sey

From what his people refer to as ‘the evolutionary mecca’ on Zeebala VI. He was born to affluence in a prominent family in the Capital City. A decade into his career as a historian, the USS Hataspus arrived in orbit in 2396 and opened relations with the offshoot of the Moopsy species. Less then 2 years later he was attending Starfleet Academy as a pre-med student.

Background Information–

The Zeebalan Moopsies are an evolved offshoot of the feral Moopsy race. Their evolution into a civilized, sentient clade that makes them distinct was brought about by several random occurences;

-A viable population was created when, 2000 years ago, an Emperor of a dying regional empire had rounded up all the moopsies in his territory and had them exiled on Zeebala VI. All Zeebalan Moopsies are descended from what is known as ‘the first fifty’ that were marooned there.

-Rapid societal evolution brought about by the unique conditions of the planet itself. The Science department on the Hataspus had narrowed it down to the ionization rate in the atmosphere matching the Moopsies brain waves in a random synergistic fashion, and a highly mineralized water table. Complex language began to emerged within 200 years of them being deposited on the planet, and the dawn of civilization within another four generations after that.

-The planets abundance of fauna and no natural predators capable of threatening a moopsy allowed for their primal drive to satiate an unending hungry to ebb over time.

-Their were no previous known encounters with outsiders save a passing freighter that made the mistake of capturing a Moopsy and bringing it back up to their vessel 600 years ago. The warp capable ship remains in a stable orbit, visited by fusion drive equipped shuttles that the Zeebalan Moopsies operate, and was what drew the Hataspus to the planet.
