"Don't blow your first chance at normal", yeah, me too, girl. Me too. Wonderful writing! A big fan of someone just wanting 'normal' in their life over the chaos starfleet could bring.
Oh this is great. I love the theme your taking for this already--and this is a really fun take on the fleet! It makes me wonder just how over the top and overdone the insides of these ships will be and how much gold will be laced on them. And oooh boy. . . .Alec and Isabella, a married couple? This oughta be good
It's nice to see a little bit of humor and life within the crew during this. A big fan of Iggy and Ryke's dynamic, and it's a really fun read. Love the ending too lolololol, bravo!
Something is 100% not right. Even with how cooperative they've all been, something doesn't seem *right*. Nonetheless, the unease is always justified from both sides. I'm wondering if maybe everything is okay now, but someone--or some*thing*--will be coming and messing things up for both worlds. Who knows!
Big fan of how you did the transit scene here. Also how fun it is to explore exactly how other places are shaped and handle new people or new visitors; the unease and unknown is nothing short of a terrifying experience. Can't wait to read whats next!
"And paralysis gave way to protocol." UGH, Brennan, you can't keep on making me love these stories more and more!! The characterization of Valdes is a really fun character and I'm thrilled with the way you've characterized her. Cheers, can't wait for the next!
Brennan, just...wow. These conversations you write are always great, but this? This takes the very well baked cake. From the intro, to the ending, to the fight itself; you captured a really uncomfy part of family life that is concerningly accurate in a wonderfully written way. I also want to touch on the intro especially--the way dread can form in people is in many different ways, and I think you captured that perfectly.
" Without the thrum of a vibrant warp core, she could hear the groan of the damaged decks settling as Kellin Trojet showed her the way. " - you never quite take for granted just how normal a lot of sounds and sights in starfleet would have, huh? Besides that, BRAVO!! This is a wonderful story, and that ending?? Goodness, Brendan. You never fail to make me think about new ways to approach how one writes a scene, because the way you angle things--the description of Taes' outfit and how it feels, how she moves and has quirks within her guilt and feelings--its all wonderful. Amazing work!
while this is an adorably silly story, i LOVE how you characterize the kitties here. "Yessss, that was good. Very good." for the stretching is the best example. Two dads?? I also love this whole pinky and the brain esq setup you have for Frank and Stein. A great story, can't wait for more!
Doctor Collins and Shep have such a sweet relationship, I'm a big fan of their writing and banter. It's really interesting to see how both treat the medbay--guests, paitents, etc--and wow, is Isabella very quickly becoming one of my favorites. She has a REALLY good way of baiting someone into a fight lololol, wonderful writing!
aha! im a big fan of this so far :) thrilled to see someone taking a target for a change (as much as displaced people themselves are fun)! Excited to read more; and that ending is DOPE. What's happening to his daughter? What's going on???? We HAVE to know!
These are some great moments of humor but I REALLY like how this whole stories conversational bits give us so so so much character about all of the crew and new members alike. "There was a slight tic of surprise on Zamora’s face when Ixabi’s voice rang out next", "Szarka had always interpreted the question ‘Does this need to be said by me, now?’ as a rhetorical challenge.", etc. Beautiful job, Z! On the edge of my seat with what happens next!
Holy hell, Z! This is absolutely INCREDIBLE. I know we talked a bit about what you plan to do, but *this*? Ugh, the imagery is so so gorgeous and has such an unsettling vibe to it. "as if it were a snare trap that would dig into his flesh before he could escape this horrible scenario" Especially made me uneasy. I feel so bad for Bohkat, and this is going to be an AMAZING storyline, I can tell already!
Gosh, I just love that ending. Something so harrowing about what you've had as the norm for decades to suddenly flip on it's head with no warning or heads up. You've set a wonderful scene as well, especially with how unnerving we get with the weapons fire. The Juno truly did just. . . show up! Great work!!
Ohohoho how I am SO excited for this story. Whats happened here? Who is Captain Carver at his core? And to bring it *back* in time? Color me intrigued! Something very unique about a Captain who wants conflict and thrives in the chaos. You've done a wonderful job at characterization with this story. Bravo!
I would be like, panicking a lot more than this crew ever is in their shoes. I really like the vibe you have going for here--NOTHING is around? Everything is gone? What does this mean for everyone? Hell, what does this mean for the ships resources and their allies?? Very excited to see more!
I really like how you made such a physical difference here with certain objects--its fun! A truthfully terrifying realization when you think about it for more then 3 seconds; if this thing is gone, then what else is? You have a really fun way of characterizing people too just from the enviornment they live in alone. Bravo!
I am OBSESSED with how you opened this. There's such a unique way to set up how a character internally thinks and everyone does it differently; the way you do? Chefs kiss! You also have a wonderful way of setting a scene. This was incredible! Good job, can't wait to read more!
“What is WRONG with you!?” “Nothing of significance. I’m not even concussed.” I cackled irl, this was a great read! Wonderful characterization here :) can’t wait to see more on Nevahl especially
"Proceed with your… moment.” is a great line lolol This story is great! I'm actually a huge fan of Tanna's and T'Luni's characters--you give off their relationship dynamic very well. Hell, the dialogue feels very natural! I also love how you describe Tanna's side of the room; these two have some great chemistry and I'm very excited to see where they go. If anything bad happens to them, I might riot.
