Captain Price entered the bridge and made straight for the captain’s chair. He had been called to the bridge while he had been enjoying a quick bite to eat and rest in his quarters.

“Status report.” Price commanded.

“Captain, we picked up something on the sensors while we were doing a sweep. It looks to be some kind of structure, but we are not sure what.” The helmsman replied.

“Have there been any communication attempts, or are we picking up any signals?”

“Negative, Captain.” The communication chief confirmed.

“Are we able to get a visual read on it?”

“Yes, sir, sending it to the view screen now.”

Price studied the image currently on the view screen. It seemed to be some kind of ship but not a Starfleet one.

“Let’s get closer and get a better scan,” Prince commanded.

“Aye, sir.” The navigation officer confirmed and began to manoeuvre the ship. It was then that Commander Reid, Raymond’s executive officer, entered the bridge and took her place in the seat next to his. Raymond filled her in on the details.

The next several minutes were rough to say the least as the helmsman and navigation officers worked to maneuver the ship through dense debris and gravitational eddies. It was touch-and-go for a bit there.

“Sir, we’re as close as we can get.” The helmsman confirmed.

“Good job. Let’s go ahead and do a complete scan and get as much information as we can.” Price commanded.

“Yes, sir.” It did not take long to get the results.

“Sir, it seems to be some kind of civilian salvage ship. I’m reading a whole lot of modifications here, but I can’t seem to place what kind of technology they’re using.”

“Any life signs?” Price asked.

“Negative, sir. But we are picking up a very faint energy read from within the ship. Something is still powered on in there.”

“What are your recommendations, number one?” Price asked Reid in a quieter voice just between them.

“As we do not have much to go on and there is something still powered on. I think we should send a small away time to investigate.” Reid replied.

“Very well, go ahead and do that, and you’ll be commanding the team. Let me know when you’re ready.” Price said.

“Yes, sir,” Reid replied and made her way to the turbolift.

Interesting … very interesting … Reid thought to himself. How could something still be powered by a completely dead ship?
