((Sickbay, USS Culver City))

Lieutenant (jg) Hilava, Culver City’s chief medical officer; moved through her sickbay, her lab coat – something she wore mainly as an affectation – billowing slightly as she made her way towards her office.  As she walked, she passed a supply closet, pausing for a moment as she remembered something.  “Oh, right!  I must ask for more of that…” she said to herself before finishing the short walk and taking a seat at her desk.

She pulled up the recent report from the Soval, on the outcome of the court martial, smiling as she saw the update: all defendants had pled guilty.  “I told them that justice’d win out,” she said with satisfaction.  “Hopefully this’ll help them heal.”

She looked up at the sound of the door to sickbay swishing open.

“Heya Doc. I’m Doc Lady from the Blythe. Thought I’d come and introduce myself since we had to dock our shuttle here anyway.” The exocomp exclaimed as she entered the sickbay that had an identical layout to her own former haunts on the Blythe.

“Oh!  Hi!  Yes, come in, please!” Hilava said as she stood up, walking around her desk to meet Lady and Abernathy in the main room.  “It’s good to meet you,” the young Ferengi woman continued.  “I’m Hilava, or Dr. Hilava if you really want to be formal, but you don’t have to call me that.  How are you both doing?”

“Fine.” Abernathy replied

“Great. Oh, hey the way, I’d like to add your names as a co-author on a paperwork I’m writing for Starfleet Medical about the Dergan Cabbage epidemic” the Exocomp said, trying to sound conversational.

Hilava looked both flattered and confused.  “I mean, sure, of course, but why would I be a co-author?”

“Oh don’t be modest girl! The cessation and symptom managment therapy I came up with wouldn’t have been possible with your initial reports from when the CC helped out that stricken Dergan ship. Your report noted a high tetra-cannabidiol count and psuedo-barbitubate effect on the dopamine receptors in the users.” Lady tipped her forward facing tool appararus in a quasi-bow.

Hilava’s cheeks flushed, and she ran a hand over her lobed head, flattered.  “I’m just glad we could help them,” she said after a moment.

Lady replicated a thumb print scanner as her tool attachment, “Just thumb print here, and I’ll send the pre-print paperwork to you before I fire it off for peer review and publishing.”

Hilava pressed her thumb to the scanner, smiling at the exocomp.  “I look forward to reading it!” She said brightly.  “I’m sure it’s very well-written and insightful.”

“Enh, I’m just a humble surgeon who wields a laser scalpel. Never been much of wordsmith.” Lady replied.

“What is it you said, don’t be so modest?” Hilava returned with a smile.

“Touche Doc, touche”. The exocomp replied.

“How’re you liking the April?” Hilava asked Lady.

“No idea, we haven’t boarded her yet, the Lt. here and I are the senior officers from the April aboard, so we’ll be the last to leave…got make sure none of our people left a mess and all. We’re scheduled to beam out in about 10 minutes.” Lady said.

“Should we go inspect the cargo our people were staying in now then Doctor?” Abernathy urged.

“Yeah, probably should, you humanoids are fucking gross…well, nice to meet ya Hilava. If the Culver Cities ever nearby feel free to come and hang out in my sickbay, drugs will cost you a smile, the tunes are free though.” The pink exocomp said as she began hover back towards the sickbay doors.
