Training day

The progress of Thyn Th'ezekroq

First Flight part 1

Mellstoxx system
April 2399

Mid April 2399, Mellstoxx system

The USS Brontes, a Raven class ship, moved under full impulse towards the edge of the system, a mining facility on one of the moons of Mellstoxx V had requested some medical supplies after a small gas pocket had ruptured in one of the mine shafts, injuring 2 of the miners that were working in the shaft at the time

The Brontes was running a skeleton crew of 10, including Thyn Th’ezekroq, a 4th year Cadet from Starfleet academy assigned to the Brontes with the Security division, not that Starfleet expected any issues. Especially not in system, with the Cardassian Union working with the Federation to re-establish diplomatic negotiations. Thyn was to shadow the Bajoran Security officer, Bepon Shede, that was assigned to the aid run but wasn’t a permanent member of the crew, just a temporarily assigned Officer for a few days until the Security Chief was transferred to the Brontes from Starfleet Command but the Admiralty insisted on having a Security Officer onboard.

Thyn awoke early, nearly 2 hours before his shift was due to start, unable to sleep due to a mix of excitement and nerves. He decided to get up and ready, his uniform proudly displaying his Bravo fleet insignia along with his Cadet badge. He got himself a cup of peppermint tea, something he’d acquired a taste for at the academy after reading some Earth histories, while he read the latest letter from his parents on Andor. Thyn’s family was very important to him and he send frequent messages to them, keeping them up to date with his studies and how he was doing socially as Thyn had struggled to make friends back on Andor as a child so his parents were keen on hearing how Thyn was doing with other people and species.

Bepon Shede knocked softly on Thyn’s door, exchanging very little as they headed up to the bridge at the orders of the Captain. Captain Kohlir glasch Pef, a Tellerite. Captain Kohlir sat quietly at the centre of the bridge, alone except for the blinking of console lights, the Raven class being small enough that a single person could operate one under non-combat conditions. The Captain turned slowly as Bepon and Thyn entered the bridge, the later snapping to attention the moment he entered the bridge, both Bepon and Kohlir chuckled softly, they don’t often serve with Cadets and forget how formally they’ve been trained.

“I have bad news for you both” the Captain said, his voice low and gruff, “One of the injured miners was a Cardassian sympathiser during the occupation of Bajor” Looking squarely at Bepon “This doesn’t mean we won’t help him and no we won’t be arresting him either” cutting Bepon off before he could bring up arresting him. Bepon, his rage barely contained, stormed off the bridge, leaving Thyn confused as to whom to follow. Protocol says that he can’t leave the bridge until he was dismissed by the Captain, but he was ordered to shadow Bepon. The Captain smiled softly and as he dismissed Thyn said “Keep an eye on him for me would you? Let me, and only me, know if he doesn’t calm before we get to Mellstoxx V. ”Yes Captain” Thyn saluted and quickly set off after his Bajoran teacher, worried about Bepon’s reaction and how he’ll react to Thyn being there

The Brontes was quiet, Captain Kohlir glasch Pef stood on the bridge alone, the light of the Paulson nebula casting twisting shadows across his face. He knew that asking Thyn to keep an eye on Bepon was a dangerous idea, Bepon was well known on Starbase 4 for his anti-Cardassian sentiments and, even after reprimands, he hadn’t changed his attitude or even tried to disguise it. Kohlir knew that this could be career ending for Bepon and potentially even worse for Thyn if things went truly wrong but his Cadet would be able to keep Bepon under surveillance without raising too much suspicion, Thyn was already assigned to shadow Bepon.

With less than 2 hours till the Brontes reached Mellstoxx V, Bepon was still raging about the information that the Captain had given to both him and Thyn, Bepon was pacing the small recreational area frantically, flexing his fists constantly, almost like he was waiting for the sympathiser to transport in front of him to be dealt with. Thyn, despite his young age, stood taller than Bepon and his slender frame belied a strength that Bepon had yet to discover. “And hopefully never will” thought Thyn as Bepon made yet more angry threats against the injured miner.

“If I get my hands on him, sorry when I get my hands on him, he’ll feel all the pain my people felt during the Occupation. All the suffering and agony that he, and people like him allowed to happen” His voice reaching a fever pitch, his eyes looking manic. “And the Captain expects me, ME! to help him instead of watching him die slowly and painfully like my family did”. Thyn began to move away from Bepon, worrying that Bepon may lash out in his frustration. “ME! helping a traitor to my own people is not going to happen Thyn, I swear this on the Prophets I will watch them die before I help them” Bepon stormed out, locking himself in his quarters but continuing his ravings.

Thyn straightened his uniform, breathed deeply and stepped onto the bridge, awaiting the Captain’s attention. Kohlir chuckled softly, sipped his strong Tellerite `coffee`, smiled and turned to the young Cadet, who was still standing at attention at the entry to the bridge. “Come in Thyn and try to relax” Thyn walked up to the Captain and leaned close “Sir, Bepon is wanting to kill the injured sympathiser when we arrive, he’s been raging for hours in the rec area and now he’s continuing in his quarters, you can hear him even down in engineering over the hum of the Warp Core” Thyn straightened up, his face betraying his feelings and unease about spying on the officer he’d been assigned to shadow but at the same time ordered to watch by his Captain. Kohlir sighed heavily, shaking his head with a sorrowful look on his face, the light being cast by the Paulson Nebula lighting his face in unusual patterns

“Come with me Thyn, we need to do something about Ensign Shede before he hurts anyone” Kohlir rose from his chair, headed to the armaments locker at the back of the bridge, picked up a phaser and handed it to Thyn. “Hopefully we won’t need these but if Bepon is as far gone as I fear he is we may have to stun him” Kohlir took his own phaser and secured it to his hip. Both Kohlir and Thyn headed to Bepon’s quarters, on the starboard side of the Brontes

Kohlir nodded to Thyn “Be calm, young one. Bepon is usually a rational man, I’ve served with him before and he’s always been a good man but this was always something the Starbase Admiralty have worried that Cardassian presence could set him off” Thyn, checking his phaser was set to stun, breathed out slowly, steadying his hands. The Captain rang the door alert and waited, several minutes passed with no answer except the continued shouting from Bepon. “Thyn, use the manual release, we need to get in there”, “Yes sir” replied Thyn as he prepped the system the sounds within the cabin stopping. “Ready sir” whispered the young Cadet. “Open it”

The door opened slowly reavealing a darkened cabin, the smashed remains of Bajoran pottery scattered around the room, impact marks clear on the wall, even in the dim lights. “Bepon? It’s the Captain, we need to talk” Kohlir spoke confidently as he entered the room, scanning left and right for any sign of the clearly distressed Ensign. With a roar born of pure hatred, Bepon stormed out of the dark corner, knocking Kohlir down his phaser knocked out of his hands by the impact with the deck plating. A sharp flash of metal and a scream issued from the dark recesses of the floor, the metal raised again before Thyn grabbed the wrist, his Andorian physique far stronger than Bepon had expected. Using his greater size and strength, Thyn forced Bepon to the ground, his hands pinned under Thyn’s knee. Quickly tapping his com badge “Thyn to medical personelle, you are needed immediately on C deck Starboard side. The Captain is hurt”

The medical team ran into Bepon’s quarters, unsure as to what they’d find. Thyn had been sparse on details deliberately to get the medics to attend faster. As the medical team arrived, one of the engineering Ensigns who’s quarters were down the hall from Bepon’s appeared and got the lights back up and running, several had been smashed during Bepon’s raging’s, the remainder casting a peculiar half-light over the scene. Kohlir lay on his back, his breathing laboured and wheezing as the medics scanned him quickly to assess the damage Bepon’s impromptu blade had caused. Talking softly between themselves, the medics injected the Captain with pain relievers and quickly got him to sick bay, leaving Bepon pinned under the much younger Cadet still.

Moments seemed to stretch to eternity as Thyn waited for other members of the security team to come and take charge of both Bepon and the scene of the attack. The only other ranking Security officer was a Vulcan ensign that Thyn hadn’t had any contact with before. The Vulcan reached the eerie quarters of Bepon, quickly glanced around to get an idea of the situation and turned to the young Cadet, “You have done well Cadet, but I will take over now” He didn’t mean to sound condescending but sometimes it can be taken that way, especially by people not used to Vulcans and their cold seeming logical ways

Thyn straightened up, following the dejected Bepon and the Vulcan to an empty storage area that was being temporarily set up as a detainment area for Bepon until another ship could collect him and take Bepon back to Starbase Bravo for evaluation. “What will happen to Bepon?” Thyn asked quietly as they made their way to the aft storage bay “The USS Exeter will come and collect him for his trial at Starbase Bravo” the Vulcan raised his hand to stop Thyn asking his next question “I know the Exeter is a training vessel but it has the facilities and crew that we do not to safely transport Bepon to where he can be assessed, plus we still have to complete our mission to the miners of Mellstoxx V” Thyn nodded sadly at the news. “What is troubling you cadet?” the Vulcan asked, eyebrow raised in surprise. “I don’t know how to feel sir, I know what Bepon did is wrong but I can understand why he hates Cardassians and those who sided with them during the Bajoran Occupation. I don’t think I’d feel any less angry at anyone who occupied my homeworld” Thyn spoke softly, his antennae drooping slightly with the sad tones of his voice. “That is only natural cadet, you would want revenge despite how illogical it would be to seek it” the Vulcan replied coldly

An hour later, Kohlir was released from sickbay, his wound healing but still very sore for him. He called Thyn up to the bridge, his voice cracking slightly as his throat had been hit during Bepon’s takedown. “Thyn, I wanted to thank you for saving me, if it wasn’t for your quick thinking and reactions there’s a good chance he’d have killed me” Kohlir looked almost embarrassed admitting this, especially to a Cadet “If you hadn’t reacted the way you did, I wouldn’t be here. After we complete our mission to the mines, you’ll be getting a commendation from me for this” Thyn looked puzzled and surprised “I was just doing my duties Sir, nothing more” Kohlir chuckled softly, wincing as he did “You are so damned Andorian sometimes Thyn, always putting others and duty before yourself. You’ll be a fine officer one day Thyn, I’m very sure of that” shaking his head gently as he spoke. Kohlir had served alongside several Andorians over his 15 year Starfleet career and always found they had a similar trait of putting duty before anything else. “Thank you Sir” Thyn replied, trying to keep a smile off his face but the movement of his antennae betraying his emotions again

The ship’s navigational computer beeped, causing Thyn to start. “It’s alright Thyn, we’ve arrived in orbit of Mellstoxx V. Time to get down there and see what help we can be. I know it’s your first mission outside of the training runs but I want you down there just in case the situation has deteriorated since our departure. Keep your phaser handy too, we may need it if the cave in has cut anyone off” Thyn nodded quickly and check that the phaser the Captain had given him earlier was safe on his hip and powered down after the incident with Bepon. “Lets of make sure no one else gets hurt today” Thyn whispered, almost to himself as he set off towards the transporter room.

First Flight part 4

Mellstoxx system
April 2399

The area around the transporter pad was a hive of activity, miners rushing left and right, orders being yelled back and forth all given a peculiar background tone with the constant tremors that were running through the fabric of the mine. Captain Kohlir quickly looked around, trying to find anyone who was organising the chaos raging around them. One figure stood out amongst the frantic miners all around, an Orion, standing head and shoulders above the chaos, stood bellowing orders trying to organise any kind of plan

“Starfleet!” A cry rang out across the chaotic scene as several of the miners now noticed the Starfleet officers standing on the transporter pad, taking stock of the scenes around them. A few cheers greeted the exclamation along with several boos and jeers. The miners in the Mellstoxx system were happy enough to have the protection of the Federation to keep pirates away but they didn’t appreciate Starfleet personnel in their mines. “Bit late now” a voice cut through the frantic shouts of the miners, Kohlir and Thyn turned to face the new voice “Go back to your Academy and leave the mines to us!” The crowd around the newcomer parted, revealing  themselves to be Reman. Muttering quickly spread throughout the gathered miners, many shocked to find out a Reman had been living and working amongst them yet somehow keeping themselves hidden

“Why are you here?” The question sounded more like an accusation than anything else but Kohlir brushed it off and replied “We’re here to bring medical aid, we were told that several miners had been injured when one of the mine shafts collapsed”  Kohlir’s voice was steady and strong despite the Reman towering over him “Then come this way, quickly” the Orion gestured down one the the tunnels “Down to the end of the mine shaft you’ll find them and the few medics we have trying to help and free them” Kohlir gestured to the waiting Starfleet medical team and Thyn “Lets go save these people”

Thyn, Kohlir and the medical team quickly headed down a series of winding tunnels, the conditions becoming more cramped and dangerous, Thyn was struggling especially with the rapidly lowering ceiling of the tunnels. “Sir, something doesn’t feel right about this. Where are the miners that were supposed to be guiding us? They’re no longer behind us” Kohlir stopped, turning slowly, listening carefully for footsteps or sounds of the injured miners calling for aid but he was greeted with silence “Raise the Brontes Thyn, we need support” “Yes Sir” Thyn reached for his combadge, but only got static back to his calls. “Sir we have a problem, there’s something in the caves that must be blocking the signal to the Brontes” “Damn it, we’re heading back to the main area and get out of here”

Kohlir motioned to the rest of the away team to turn back, minutes felt like hours as they made their way back towards the main mining area. The tunnel started to shake, gently at first but quickly gaining in strength. Cracks started to appear in the roof of the tunnel, spreading faster and faster. “Sir I can get a weak signal through now with the cracks. I’ve warned them best I could of what’s happening down here and asked them to relay a distress call back to Starbase Bravo and a request for back-up” “That may be a little premature Thyn but thank you, better to be safe than sorry with so few of us down here” Thyn nodded, breathing deeply, his antennae moving  helping Thyn in the dark and cramped conditions. “Sir, someone is coming towards us, the tunnel in front, at least 5 people”

Kohlir pushed everyone back down the tunnel a little to have some cover against whomever was approaching them. Faint lights appeared in the tunnel as the unknown party got closer. “They were down here” a voice shouted from the darkness. Kohlir and Thyn were crouched behind outcroppings in the tunnel, the medical team a little further back, phasers ready. The torch lamps got closer but slowed down in their approach, caution clearly at the forefront of their minds. As they party rounded the tunnel, it became clear that something much worse than a mine collapse.

First Flight Part 5

April 2399

The lights grew brighter, the sounds of footsteps growing alongside them. “Captain, at least 5 people coming town that tunnel, one of them is a lot heavier than the others, possibly that Orion we saw near the transporter pads” Thyn whispered to his Captain, Thyn’s antennae twitching and moving as he used them to help discern the approaching sounds. “Keep your head down lad, this could get nasty quickly if things turn violent” Kohlir responded, nodding sadly at his Cadet charge. Kohlir had lost crew in combat before but never a Cadet. “And I’ll be damned before I do loose one” he muttered softly to himself, Thyn turning is head inquisitively towards Kohlir as he did. Kohlir waved his hand towards Thyn, dismissing his muttering as he’d forgotten about the young Andorian’s strong senses in the twisted environs of the mine.

The torches got closer, the footsteps increasing in speed as the party closed on the Federation officers, their lamps powered down to avoid giving themselves away in the darkness of the mines. “They must still be down here, they didn’t come back up this way and none of the other teams have reported anyone coming out the other shafts” a voice echoed through the gloom. “It can’t be” Kohlir whispered, his hands trembling slightly as he realised just how much danger they were in “That accent, it’s Romulan!”  he exclaimed softly. “How is that possible, we’re well within Federation space, how could they get this close to the Academy without being detected?” “A mystery for another time young one, first we need to get out of here in once piece and warn the Fleet Admiralty that we have a potentially serious problem right in our own back yard” Kohlir seemed to calm quickly as he took stock of the situation. “Sir, someone is approaching from behind us” Thyn whispered, gesturing into the darkness at their backs. Kohlir gestured to the medics to face the other way, to face the new threat approaching them. “Quickly you big idiot, we need to get to them before they can escape or get a signal out to warn Starfleet as to what’s going on!” the Romulan voice echoed down the dark, twisting confines of the mines.

Moments stretched into an eternity as they waited in the dark, the footsteps now loud enough that all of the Starfleet personnel could hear them clear as day. “The footsteps behind us will get here before the others Sir” Thyn told his Captain softly, not wanting his voice to carry through the tunnels like the others had been doing. Kohlir looked shocked “So soon? I thought we’d have more time to prepare. Damn it all. Ready yourselves lads, this isn’t going to be fun” the medics nodded sadly, Thyn checked over his phaser, lost in his own memories of his father telling him how to care for his weapons and check it regularly “You never known when it’ll save your life” his Father had told him. Thyn smiled at the memory as he readied himself for what was to come. “Don’t shoot, i’m here to help you get out of here” a voice whispered from behind them. Kohlir turned to face the new voice in the dark. “And who are you to be warning us? Hmmm skulking round in the dark doesn’t seem like a great way to make friends” “My kind don’t like the light much so we stick to the shadows until we have no other choice” the reply came back from everywhere and nowhere all at once. Thyn quickly realised who the voice belonged to, but Kohlir was already ahead of him “Come out of the dark Reman, I know it’s you” Like a living shadow, the Reman moved out of the dark, lowering their hood to reveal their face. “My name is Minarix, I came here to find out what happened to my brother but the Romulans found me first. I’ve been hiding in the lower mine shafts where they can’t reach me” “Why come up and shout at us in the transporter area then if you were hidden?” Thyn asked softly before Kohlir could stop him. “I knew that your coming would change everything here, maybe even scare the Romulan’s into a mistake but I never expected them to do this” Kohlir’s face dropped “Do what exactly?”

Minarix started slightly at the harshness of Kohlir’s tone, “They’ve ordered the miners to kill you or they’ll release a toxin into the mines. I’m also pretty sure they have a Thalaron weapon hiding here in the deepest, darkest hole they could get their hands on”. Kohlir bristled at this news “There’s no way, even with the best Tal shiar cloak that they could get a Thalaron weapon this close to the Academy undetected” “Who do you think built the cloak that Shinzon used against your flagship? He had Romulan help, Tal shiar help specifically” Thyn looked horrified at the thought of Romulan spies operating so close to the Academy without anyone noticing. “This is a conversation for when we’re not being hunted by Uhlans Captain” Minarix’s words rang true to Kolhir and the Captain quickly got back to his position overlooking the other end of the tunnel where they had hunkered down to face their mystery attackers. “Sir, there just round the next corner” Thyn’s whisper seemed impossibly loud in the tunnel as they braced themselves for what was to come. “Let’s hope your call for help did get through lad, we’re going to be needing it quickly” Thyn smiled grimly and nodded

With a blinding flash, the tunnel entrance blazed into life, lamps moving to and fro, trying to draw a bead on the Starfleet officers that had been drawn into their trap. “Come out Starfleet and we’ll not kill you, at least not if you cooperate” the Romulan voice came from behind the lamps, dripping with arrogance. His attempt to draw them out was met with a stone silence, the only sounds were the mutterings of the human miners that had been forced into a bodyguard for the Romulan, heavy mining mattocks gripped tightly in their gloved hands, clearly distressed and unhappy about being forced into a situation they couldn’t control. “Go and get them…. NOW!” the Romulan barked at the miners, pushing them deeper into the cave. “Typical Romulan, afraid to get his hands dirty and forcing others to die in his place” both Kohlir and Thyn started as Minarix responded, her anger on full display across her features. She stepped forward, wincing at she stepped into the lights of the Romulan and his cohort. “Ahhhh the Reman, I was wondering when you’d stop scurrying in the dark and come out to die like the rest of your kind” the Uhlan looked her up and down with disgust clear on his face but not seeing why Minarix had revealed herself. With a flick of her fingers, the lamps exploded, tiny metal darks piercing them, blinding the miners and the Uhlan but allowing Minarix and the Starfleet officers to strike unseen.

Rushing out from behind the rocks, both Kohlir and Thyn quickly reached the miners, taking the mattocks from them with no resistance, their involvement clearly involuntary. The large Orion, quickly sank to his knees, the shame on his face evident. “Look out!” the Orion bellowed as the Uhlan raised his plasma pistol and began firing blindly in front of himself, Minarix was quick enough to avoid getting clipped but sadly Thyn was not so lucky. The plasma beam scorched across Thyn’s forehead, taking his right antenna with it. Thyn dropped to the ground, blue blood coating his white hair, the medics unable to get to him while the Uhlan was firing blindly. Thyn, grunting through the pain, raised his phaser and fired, the orange beam hitting the Uhlan square in the chest, stunning him. “Just like the target range, heh” Thyn chuckled to himself as he passed out, the medics quickly moving to him, cleaning the wound and bandaging his antenna stump . “Will he be alright?” Kohlir asked as he rushed over to check on Thyn, “He’ll live Sir, just may have a scar and he’ll need to take it easy till his antenna regrows but he’ll be okay” the Trill medic replied softly as he injected Thyn with anti biotics and painkillers, not wanting to risk any chance of infection in the darkness of the mines. “And now to deal with you” Kohlir grumbled, his voice as deep and as cold as the void between the stars, he turned and headed over to the Uhlan who was prostrate on his back, Thyn’s phaser knocking him out completely

Minarix stood over him, gripped his collar and lifted him to his feet “Where is my brother?” She screamed into his face as she punched him in the gut “Where is he?!” “I think I know where he might be but it won’t be easy to get to” the Orion spoke gently “We were ordered to put particle fields over one of the mine shafts due to ‘radiation issues’ but now I think I know why” Minarix rounded on the Orion “Take me to them, I want my brother” She turned to Kohlir “You can go now, I can sort this out. He needs more medical attention than you can give him here” Kolhir wanted to argue but he knew she was right, he reached over, took Thyn’s combadge off his uniform and handed it to Minarix “Contact us when you’ve found your brother, we’ll make sure that the Romulans can’t escape the mines and help you dismantle their facility here” She smiled at Kohlir, an odd gesture for a Reman, “Thank you Captain, I hope one day that me, you and your young friend can meet again under better circumstances” “As do I” Kohlir replied with a smile offering his hand out to her. Minarix looked puzzled but gripped his hand tight “Till we meet again Captain” and then Minarix, the Orion and the other miners set off into the mines to find the rest of the Romulans hiding there. “Let’s get him back to the Brontes quickly” the medics nodded. carefully picking Thyn up and carrying him back to the transporter pads.

As the party reached the main transport area, a new figure was materialising in on the pad. A captain, not known to Kohlir, had arrived to help the miners, having only caught part of Thyn’s distress call. “I’m glad you’ve come but this is one hell of a mess to sort out Captain” Kohlir warned the newcomer. “We were told by one of your security officers that you had a Bepon in custody for attacking yourself yet when we contacted the Brontes, there was no sign of him. The Vulcan officer informed me that Bepon had somehow escaped and managed to leave the ship” “What?!?” Kohlir was furious. The newcomer raised his hand to try and calm Kohlir “Your officer also said that a transport signal was detected coming down to these mines but not to this transporter location. We followed the trail as best we could but there is some kind of shielding deeper down that stopped our scans” “The Romulans….” Kohlir whispered “Bepon wasn’t Bajoran, he was a damned Tal Shiar operative!” “Be that as it may, you should head back to the Brontes, Captain. We’ll take it from here” as the new captain spoke, security teams were beaming down behind him, far better equipped to deal with Romulan resistance. “Aye, we’ll be in orbit a few days still though if you need us” “Thank you Captain”

Kohlir tapped his combadge and beamed himself and his team back to the Brontes, the medics rushing Thyn to the infirmary as quickly as they dared move him….

Days passed with no word from the surface, Kohlir stood in darkness on the bridge of the Brontes, a mug of Tellarite coffee in hands, steam gently rising from it only disturbed by the doors opening onto the bridge followed by some unsteady footsteps. “Cadet Thyn Th’ezokroq reporting for duty Captain” Thyn stood, slightly wobbly, saluting Captain Kolhir. “At ease Cadet before you fall down” Kolhir chuckled “Should you be out of the med bay?” “They can’t do much else for me in there till my antenna grows back” “Is that all they said?” Kohlir frowned a little, sensing that Thyn was holding something back. “They said I’m going to be scarred and have a few hairs missing but I’ll be okay once I’ve healed. They wouldn’t tell me about Bepon tho, he isn’t on board” “Sit down lad, this isn’t going to be easy to hear” Thyn took a few wobbly steps to the nearest seat and gingerly lowered himself into it. “It appears that Bepon may not have been what we thought he was Thyn…” Thyn looked puzzled for a moment till he spoke softly “He was a spy wasn’t he? The Cardassian sympathiser and attack on you was to try and put us off his trail wasn’t it?” Kohlir looked surprised and then smiled “You learn damn fast lad, but yes. That’s what i’m thinking happened” “We’ll se him again one day Sir and there will be a reckoning” Thyn said defiantly, his voice full of conviction. Before Kohlir could respond, the comms console began to beep “Captain Kohlir here” “Good to hear your voice Captain, I found the Romulans” “Any sign of your brother?” “Nothing” The anger in Minarix’s voice was impossible for her to hide “It looks like everyone either fled or was taken out of here recently” “I’m sorry Minarix, we’re doing everything we can to find how the Romulans got here and we able to build that facility so close to one of our Starbases without us even knowing” “Thanks Captain, I have a request, Can I join you? You and Starfleet represent my best chance of finding my brother or even other Remans who survived the Hobus Supernova” Kolhir started at this, shocked that she would ask “Come aboard, we’ll arrange a meeting with the Admirals and see what they say. I can’t guarantee anything though” “Thats okay Captain, it’s a start” “Beam her aboard Thyn, please” Kolhir standing, his coffee growing cold in his hands “Then set a course for home, You’ve had quite an adventure to have to report back to Command and I have a lot of work to do to find out how Bepon managed to get in Starfleet and fooled us all”

Thyn carefully set a course for Starbase Bravo, glad to be heading home
