After almost six months and a slew of Starfleet reinforcements, the Vega system has been secured against Romulan incursion. Scout ships are hunted and destroyed, major offenses blocked and routed. Phoenix has led the way against all odds and expectations, finding the Romulan Empire trying to flank the United Earth Commonwealth and plugging a gap nobody saw coming. The rescue of an Andorian mercenary from Romulan attack seems routine, a demonstration of Starfleet supremacy in the region. But when he tells Captain Lopez of a nearby hidden Romulan base, the source of all supplies for local enemy operations, it seems an even greater opportunity has fallen into the Phoenix’s lap.

Starfleet colleagues want Lopez to investigate now, and stage a safe attack later. But the Phoenix has seen off all naysayers so far, and finishing off the Romulans in the Vega theatre for good would be a hell of a feather in the cap of the ship everyone expected to fail…
