Across the Cestus Sector Black, stars are behaving in ways science cannot explain. Violent stellar eruptions threaten Federation worlds, communications are failing and the Gorn Hegemony grows increasingly hostile.

As part of Task Force 17s response to the mysterious phenomenon, Captain Tahlari Vahl and the crew of the USS Horizon are dispatched to the Federation-Gorn border to investigate.

With two new specialist joining her science department, Horizon ventures into dangerous territory in search of answers. But as conflicting observations challenge everything they thought they understood about the stars, the crew must confront an unsettling possibility.
