What should have been a discreet Federation-Klingon exchange turns violent in an instant, sending the Advanced Unit for Reconnaissance, Operations and Response Activities (AURORA) in pursuit of a shooter who disappears as cleanly as he struck.

Their response is swift, but what starts as a simple manhunt turns into something far more complicated as they realize they’re chasing a ghost who should not be, an echo of what would have happened if things had gone just a bit differently, where past loyalties, grief and love are put to the test.
