Starbase Bravo

Home Among The Stars

It's time for the crew of Starbase Bravo to stop running and to start putting down roots

Mission Description

In August 2402, the full crew complement returns to Starbase Bravo, newly refreshed and reinvigorated from their shore leave on Mellstoxx III. Not only are the crew recharged, but the starbase itself has been repaired to full operational status. It’s a time for routine: a return to Starfleet’s greatest strengths of research, self-development, and diplomacy. Not only that, as a Guardian-class starbase, Bravo is itself a city in space, requiring the better part of a village to optimise its operations.

A return to routine is no bad thing. Given the great number of crew transfers over the past year, Commodore Oland has set a secondary directive to every department called ‘feels like home’. The starbase’s massive crew come from across the Federation and they can expect to serve together for the next few months or years or decades. The challenge set for every department head, for every specialist, and for every yeoman is to make the starbase feel more like home.

For starters:

– With all critical systems repaired, the engineering and operations departments have greater capacity to offer renovations and improvements to crew quarters

-The list of new equipment for the science and medical departments to order from has gotten longer, as Starfleet-wide logistics continue to improve and recover

-Section 25 of deck 388, between the turbolift and the promenade, has been designated a Memory Corridor. Crew members are encouraged to affix mementoes of family memories, previous Starfleet postings and homeworlds on the wall panels as a sign of reverence to where the crew have all come from

-Time is but a construct. Sufficient civilian staff have returned to Starbase Bravo, allowing more of the promenade to operate at all hours, including Downtime, Gate Inn, and Golden Apple. Starbase Bravo is a city that never sleeps.

-An annex of the arboretum has been allocated as a community garden for the crew to grow what they choose.

Starbase Bravo In Play

This is a mission about working from the outside in. Oftentimes, in new scenarios, it can take time to feel acclimated and acquainted. Sometimes, it requires putting on our best uniforms and redecorating our homes until our environment eases us into feeling more like ourselves. As always, SBB members are free to write their own plots and character developments within the ethos of SBB storytelling.

For this mission, we’re encouraging members to write themes around their characters feeling more at home: in their quarters, in their career, in their friendships, in a city in space. What’s the next step needed to turn the acquaintances and strangers of Starbase Bravo into a found family?

Collaborative Writing Roulette returns to Starbase Bravo with this mission!

For every member who chooses to sign up, you will be assigned a writing assignment for each week of this mission.  You will be paired with another member at random and offered a one-sentence writing prompt that you can use as much or as little as you like.

While members will receive new pairings and prompts weekly while this mission is open, they will not be required to finish writing each Story within a week.  Your Stories can be posted any time while the current mission is open.

Let a member of the Starbase Bravo Staff know if you need a week off or wish to opt out of roulette after starting.

New to the Base

Starbase Bravo: Home Among The Stars

Security Officer Roger Sanks arrived to Starbase Bravo straight from Starfleet Academy. He walked off the shuttle and into the base, bustling with people going from one section to another. He felt like he was on a floating city in space as he looked around with his green eyes, his brown hair [...]

Executive Run

Starbase Bravo: Home Among The Stars

She sat back with a latté and sipped the foam. She hadn’t realized she had a mustache. Her feet adorned the inactive console infront of her while the back room of the Runabout was filled with Civilians returning to the Starbase. She was reading the latest Psychiatric reports from the last [...]
