While Admiral Reyes races away from Archanis Station on the USS Diligent to address the issue on Duraxis, a mysterious figure arrives on Archanis Station, and the USS Polaris‘ ASTRA Astrophysics and Exotic Sciences unit is presenting their findings on the Underspace at a science conference on the station. Suddenly, people begin falling deathly ill. At first, it’s just a handful of victims, but its spread is rapid, its virulence high, and its vector unknown. The station’s health services facilities quickly becoming overrun. Hoping to quell the spread, Rear Admiral Grayson is forced to order Archanis Station into a lockdown, while the Medical and Biological Sciences unit of the Advanced Science, Technology and Research Activity, stationed aboard the USS Polaris, works to understand the virus that is tearing across the station. What they discover is terrifying, and as they struggle to come up with a cure, suddenly members of their own crew begin to get sick.
