Milo Talon, a lieutenant commander in Starfleet, finds himself stranded on Betazed after a Dominion invasion known as the Battle of Betazed. Leading a resistance cell composed of stranded Starfleet personnel and Betazoid civilians, Milo fights against the Dominion occupation. However, during a mission gone awry, he and his team are captured.

Milo is taken to Starbase 75, now under Dominion control, where he discovers that his 16-year-old son, Ethan, and Ethan’s girlfriend, Trinity Ryder, are also prisoners. Trinity, unbeknownst to her, has been trained by Section 31, making her combat skills particularly intriguing to the station’s commandant, Gul Reklen, who has taken her under his wing as a prized asset.

Determined to escape, Milo collaborates with Ethan and Trinity. Together, they manage to steal a Cardassian Hideki-class patrol ship, using it to flee the station and head back into Federation space.
