Task Force 93 Report #2

December 17, 2025

Our last report came right when Wargames kicked off!  Regardless of which team we fell on, the good folks of Task Force 93 represented their fellow Ninetiers well!  It’s been an eventful quarter!  Once all that competitive edge was excised from our systems in proper fashion, we picked up our proverbial pens and jumped right in to the New Frontiers Fall Campaign!  As that now draws to a close, let’s talk about everything that went on with the ’93 since our last update in September.

Task Force Updates

Lieutenant Commander Meila Tris put in an awesome tenure as the CO of Task Group 44, but all good things come to an end.  They ultimately decided to step down as we end this final quarter of the year and prepare for the next.  The enthusiastic exuberance they threw into performing that role was invaluable and will be greatly missed.

Lieutenant Commander Alexander Dubois, or Tyler if you prefer to use his name on our Discord lounge, has stepped up to the plate as the new CO of Task Group 44 and I have the utmost confidence that he will excel!  Where Meila introduced our Weekly Meme Wars, Tyler has likewise recently introduced the idea of our new weekly Kobayashi Maru scenarios and I hope you all enjoy partaking in them as much as I have so far!

These are far from the only changes around here.  We’ve also welcomed several returning and new arrivals to the Task Force in the past three months.  Let’s all give a hearty Ninetier hello to the following;

Fiction Updates

  • USS Fairfax and USS Neptune
    • The USS Fairfax and USS Neptune are sent to collaborate on a mission in the Shackleton Expanse to the world of Vreakton IV.  Ostensibly, a mission of cataloguing and exploration.  In actuality?  To investigate the reports and rumors of a Romulan Free State observation post gone dark.  An observation post that the Romulans adamantly deny exists.  The two crews mingle and send away teams down to the surface of the world via shuttles at two points.  The Essex, originating from the USS Fairfax, aims to set down groundside but experiences troubles during their descent and crash-lands amid the jungled foliage of Vreakton IV.  There, they make the horrified discovery that this world is populated by large, dinosaur-like predators.  Meanwhile, the USS Neptune deploys a mixed crew aboard an aquatic shuttle named the Triton.  They plunge into the depths of the ocean, but not before finding a creative way to penetrate the planetary storms in order to get a brief message out to the Fairfax and Neptune regarding the other downed shuttle.  Reluctantly admitting that they can help the other team no further, they proceed to take their plunge into the watery depths where they find a Romulan-built underwater structure whose entrance bears the teeth-marks of a very large creature…
  • USS Sacagawea
    • We’ve seen them go through adventures such as rescuing the USS Powhatan from a battle with the Tal Shiar, to getting embroiled in plots in Kzinti space.  But the USS Sacagawea’s current mission brings the vessel out to the Shackleton Expanse along with the rest of the Fourth Fleet.  Visiting the Vareen system, they discover that two races shared the mining rights of a metal-rich world until a calamity struck that destroyed both of their efforts.  The Sacagawea looks into the situation in order to help both the Nymvok and the Sirelians get to the bottom of the incident and smooth things over.
  • RRW T’Seran
    • Running in conjunction with the mission of the USS Galileo.  A Federation liaison joins the crew of the T’Seran.  It is an uncomfortable adjustment for all, tinted with the flavor of mistrust and suspicion that one might come to expect aboard a Romulan vessel.  As they set off into the Shackleton Expanse, a distress call is picked up.  As the Romulan vessel cautiously investigates, they discover the wreckage of a shuttle.  One of the larger fragments bears signs of a neural signature.  One that possibly bears sentience.  It seems to be connected telepathically to something that a certain Federation Steamrunner-class vessel took from the shuttle while the RRW T’Seran hung back and observed while remaining cloaked…
  • USS Galileo
    • Running in conjunction with the mission of the RRW T’Seran, the crew of the USS Galileo enter the Shackleton Expanse.  They pick up a distress call and discover a shuttle of unknown make.  The distress call bears resemblance to what was used in the 23rd century, yet exhibits all the signs that it is actively being maintained.  The crew beams aboard the shuttle and find a humanoid suspended in a decaying containment field.  They bring it aboard, and quickly learn that there may be more than meets the eye with this survivor.  Before they can fully unravel the mystery of this stranger, or just how exactly they seem to be entangled with the storming corridors of this area of space, a Romulan vessel appears…
  • USS Typhoon
    • The Typhoon enters a volatile nebula in the Valan system known as the Trialen Patch.  They find their very presence could ‘threaten the status quo’ as the Aurali Republic, the Grand Republic of Valen, and the Confederacy of Alligned Systems are all vying for control of the Valora Reach.  Furthermore, the corridor that allowed them entrance to the area seems to have shifted, and a solution must be found to restabilize it or create a new corridor altogether if they want to leave…
  • USS Sherman Oaks
    • Captain Dante Tarek assumes command of the Sherman Oaks.  He has reservations about leaving his prior career behind, but the new command offers opportunities ahead.
