Task Force 21 Report #2

May 30, 2025

It is once again that time when Task Force 21 takes a moment to highlight our people and the incredible work they’ve been doing. With the end of the Fleet Action we’ve had lots of exciting stories and some amazing excitement happening within the task force! Our crew buckled down and pushed hard and we managed to come out in third place in the Task Force standings! Not only did we place but we had the most entries per participant of any Task Force! Pretty impressive for being the newest Task Force on the block.

Task Force Updates

We’ve had some staff changes over the course of the Fleet Action and I want to take the time to thank Fleet Captain James MacLeod for his work and assistance as Task Group Commander of Task Group 97. He was a tremendous help in keeping everything rolling as I familiarized myself with the leadership role.

Fiction Updates

  • USS Leif Erikson – At the beginning of the Vaadwaur Invasion of the Alpha and Beta quadrants in early 2402, The USS Leif Erikson was on Freecloud for some R&R. Her crew was initially separated, but they managed to regroup, and with the help of a Fenris Ranger, they uncovered a plan by the Vaadwaur to enslave the citizens of Stardust City and take them to Deep Space 12, which they planned to use as a prison/resource gathering hub. They hatched a plan to save the citizens from the Vaadwaur by using a stolen fighter to do reconnaissance on the ship in orbit, and by retrofitting the stolen fighter’s communications module to eavesdrop on enemy comm traffic. With the assistance of a few brave civilian captains, the citizens of Stardust City were saved, and the Vaadwaur ship was forced to retreat. After a brief respite, the USS Leif Erikson was able to open an Underspace Tunnel to Deep Space 12 by adapting the Vaadwaur Navigations Core to the ship’s computer. Arriving at DS12 during an assault on the base, the USS Leif Erikson helped repel the attackers. Joined by the recently decommissioned USS Battle and two Fenris Ranger Corsairs, the crew of the USS Leif Erikson led an assault on the Vaadwaur outpost, which was destroyed when the USS Battle collided with the station and detonated her warp core.
  • USS Brawley – A terraforming mission led by esteemed scientist Reesshard and the Orion Space Navy took time away from their mission for a celebration. Three couples were set to marry Klingon houses with Orion clans. Ceremonies were interrupted by the arrival of the Vaadwaur. The enemy caught the mixed convoy off-guard. Each ship spent weeks rebuilding before they set off to pursue the Vaadwaur. They pursued the Vaadwaur element into an aperture after the IKS Votaragh destroyed the lead ship’s bridge.  They got away, but the convoy discovered a manufacturing construct in the process of generating Underspace. The resulting battle destroyed the structure and triggered a massive trans-planar warp eddy that hurled the convoy from near Izar towards the border with Kzinti space. The Brawley intercepted a fragmented signal that led them out of Underspace to the USS Morro Bay, where a recovery mission was launched.
  • USS Morro BayFrom the moment the USS Morro Bay’s new Captain came aboardCaptain Jetta Dowethe ship has been through a whirlwind. When the fleet wide Blackout began, the USS Morro Bay was boarded and seized by a rouge Vaadwaur ship with the intent of stealing it and using it as a way to flee persecution. Thankfully, the Morro Bay fought back with all that they could, taking down plenty of Vaadwaur as they did. The nightmare finally ended after the leader, Yuven, shot at the Morro Bay’s warp core and caused it to explode–the blast being contained thanks to precautions taken. The USS Brawley came to her aide and she is now getting repairs as the crew resides at DS-11, taking time to regroup and process. Now, all that’s left to do is recover and regroup.
  • Ulysses Exploratory Cruiser Division – In the aftermath of Operation Iron Veil, the Ulysses Exploratory Cruiser Division emerged bloodied but unbroken. The final phase of the operation claimed the life of Captain Marcus G. Kane, Commanding Officer of the Ulysses, and left Captain Leland J. Maddox grievously wounded after a last stand aboard the Cyclone. Both the Typhon and Cyclone sustained catastrophic damage. Cyclone suffered the worst damage out of all ships—her primary hull was torn open in Underspace as she shielded the Ulysses from a concentrated assault by Vaadwaur forces during an assault on a subspace anchor in Underspace. Over a third of her crew was lost in action. The USS Typhon and USS Cyclone were transferred out of Ulysses Division for extensive overhaul and systems recovery. Captain Maddox, rebuilt and unbowed, was reassigned as Commanding Officer of Deep Space Eleven, alongside the USS Unification, under Captain Julia Barrett, to bolster Ulysses Division as it fulfills its new operational mandate along the Kzinti sector.

Montana Station Squadron

  • Montana Station – Now fully assembled, the station returns to its original focus on the rimward while also working to help colonists recover from the Vaadwaur attack. Trade is returning slowly as the station business begins to pick up.
  • USS Nova & USS Perseverance – The mysteries of the rimward are out there.  The two science ships begin the search for new colonial worlds with a side of scientific exploration.  A mystery with Tholian implications is unfolding on a planet nearby, and the search for answers has begun.
  • USS Franklin D. Roosevelt & USS Zephyr – The two veteran captains are ordered to discover what the Vaadwaur may have been up to with the blackout curtain now removed.  They begin to get a taste of the brutality of the Vaadwaur on the first planet they visit.  While this is part of their mission, there is another – placing and activating sensor and communications buoys to boost what they can see and hear far into the rimward.  What will they discover?
  • SS Wandering Wolf – Hasara is on the hunt for those in the Cardassian government who want him dead.  He brings his crew together on the Kaplan F17-class freighter and begins to shake loose information across the rimward with a misfit crew.
