Description

Character Creation / Development

The Operations Office will challenge members to create/develop characters for their primary commands.

On BMFS, create or develop a biography for your fiction’s Assistant Chief Engineering Officer character. Bios will be judged on how much detail is included under each heading (e.g., biography, appearance, personality, history, service record.) Including an image(s) will further assist with points.

For existing characters, these can be submitted but must include an update on them and what happened to them during the recent Century Storm campaign and the Sundred Wing FA (plus anything that has happened before, between and after these events).

The Miracle Workers – Assistant Chief Engineering Officer

The Assistant Chief Engineering Officer is second-in-command of the engineering department, assisting their department head in their duties and coordinating with the executive officer to form duty rosters. First Name: Masooma
Last Name: Tojul
Position: Assistant Chief Engineering Officer
Gender: Female
Species: Cardassian/Human
Age: 27
Height: 5’1”
Weight: 160 Ibs.
Hair Color: Jet Black
Eye Color: Honey Brown

Physical Description:
Masooma is woman with mixed background. The mystery as to which parent was human and which was Cardassian is unknown to her; but is irrelevant as she possesses the physical features of both. She stands one inch over five feet and weighs a little more than average due to her denser Cardassian heritage. Her skin has little melanin and is fair in complexion. She does have scales that outline her face, neck and extremities and they are very noticeable. Masooma has very fine and very long, jet black hair that she has never cut; it extends below her waist. However, it is very rare that said hair is down. Masooma usually keeps it high and tight in the bun variety; she will sometimes style it in more of an elaborate manner. Her eyes are of the prettiest hues of honey and usually attract the attention of onlookers.

While on duty, Masooma keeps her uniform in excellent condition. She also prefers the skirt variant of the standard duty uniform with black tights underneath.

General Overview:
Masooma is an officer that anyone would want on their team. She is very serious about her duties and responsibilities as a Starfleet officer. Masooma believes in honor and respect. She is well spoken yet soft spoken. She can be loyal to a fault and will always protect anyone in need of protecting.

Strengths and Weaknesses:
Masooma has an eidetic memory that allows her to recall specific sounds, images or objects after only a few instances of exposure, with high precision for some time post-exposure. This skill-set was the breadcrumbs to the engineering field. Masooma is very capable at her job. She likes to be precise and will not rest until she has completed all of her goals. Propulsion systems are her cup of tea and she has had some cross training in operations to strengthen her skills. Masooma never gives up.

She began training in WTF Taekwondo her freshman year at the Academy. She practiced six days a week 1.5 in the morning and 1.5 hours in the evening. She competed on the Academy TKD team as well as solo tournaments and helped SFA win gold medals two years in a row. Upon graduation from SFA, Masooma was promoted to Cho Kyo Sa Nim: Assistant Instructor and 1st degree black belt. When she joined the Premonition crew, Masooma started a Taekwondo club. She does have a healthy level of athleticism.

Weaknesses:

Masooma can be very introverted. It is a shyness that she is still learning to overcome. Her introversion can almost be isolationist. She is not the best public speaker but can get her point across. Masooma is very short and barely clears 1.5 meters. Even though she is a trained martial artist, she is still small as is not the person you want to be taking on a boarding party or doing anything important with regards to physical security. Her marksmanship is below average and is so bad at field medicine that she managed to make a hypo-spray explode.

Living a life of “never giving up” has backfired on her many times. She is working on learning to “quit while she is ahead.” She is only half Cardassian and thusly does not have the same level of protection from her ridges and scales as a full blood would. Nor can she endure the same levels of high temperatures.

Ambitions:
Masooma wants to excel at in the engineering department so that she will get noticed by Starfleet Intelligence in order to find out more information about her parents and ultimately; their whereabouts. She also would like to do more study in artificial intelligence and holograms. She would also like to start a family someday.

Hobbies and Interests:
Masooma likes tinkering with technology and computer systems; with a major interest in propulsion systems and holographics. She likes holo-novels, books, warm weather and all kinds of ice cream. She also enjoys the Earth martial art of Tae Kwon Do.

Languages:
Federation Standard, Cardassian, Korean

History:
Masooma Tojul is an orphan. She never knew either her mother or her father. The only person that has always been there for her was a Cardassian woman and a friend of her mother named Zavega Rocad. According to Zavega, Masooma’s father was presumably killed by her mother’s brother upon learning of the pregnancy. Masooma’s mother did not want to raise a child; especially one that was half human. That was when Zavega stepped in and took Masooma as her own, a step-mother of sorts.

Originally, Zavega stayed on Cardassia, continuing her work as a civilian scientist while raising young Masooma. However, she was soon faced with death threats and harassment at work for attempting to raise a hybrid child. Zavega had no choice but to leave Cardassia. She used her scientist network to gain transport out of the Cardassian Union and into Federation space. She wanted to settle on a planet that was not in the middle of the regular galactic bustle and chose Mizar II. It turned out to be a great choice as the Mizarians were a pacifist and highly intelligent people. All Mizarians wore hoods and almost looked like Cardassians but acted nothing like them.

Masooma spent her entire life on Mizar II. She was a very good student as Mizarian coursework and that of Zavega kept her mind stimulated. Masooma developed a keen interest in technology and computer systems. Zavega trained her to have an eidetic memory as well. The Mizarians were very accepting of her, socially. However, as Masooma grew older, she learned the truth that Zavega was not her real mother. This left a void in Masooma’s heart and soul. For Cardassians, family was everything. To not know her family meant that she did not know herself. When Masooma entered secondary school, she became obsessed with trying to figure out ways to find her parents or information about them. Zavega did not want to see Masooma get hurt but she knew that she could not protect her from her destiny.

When a Mizarian rector malfunctioned causing massive amounts of radiation to spread across their city’s region, a Starfleet vessel – the Diligent-class, U.S.S. Helios – responded to the distress signal. Masooma was amazed at how quickly and efficiently the Starfleet crew evacuated, contained and remedied the situation. She even went as far as speaking with some of the crew before they left, thanking them and picking their brains about their professions.

When Masooma turned 18, she decided to pursue the entrance exam to Starfleet Academy. Zavega did protest at first, but only wanted to see Masooma do well. She aided in her preparation for the exam and was pleased to learn that Masooma would be attending the Academy.

Masooma was beyond excited. Here was her ticket to learning more about technology, more about science, more about other species. This was also her ticket to potentially finding out more about her parents. Her introverted natural definitely affected any social relationships

She befriended a Bolian woman and fellow cadet named Pejana Mokun. Pejana practiced Tae Kwon Do and Masooma joined her in the practice as well, gaining some internal fortification against the outside world. She finished strong. Despite her social setbacks, instructors could not argue with her schoolwork. Masooma graduated in the top third of her class, majoring in engineering and minoring in operations with the commission of Ensign.

Masooma served for five years as an junior engineering officer aboard the Akira-class, U.S.S. Premonition. She demonstrated excellent capacity in her duties and even showed some leadership qualities. After the first two years, she was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade. Masooma spent the next three years in said capacity and performed at a very high level. Her hard work and talents soon landed her a transfer to be become the new Assistant Chief Engineering Officer of a newly commissioned, unnamed Starfleet raven-class vessel.
