The USS Anaheim – NCC-75571 – California Class
The USS Anaheim – NCC-75571 (California Class) is a late model ship built in 2381 near the end of the class’ production life. Outfitted as a medical transport the ship essentially serves as a floating hospital, able to accommodate over two hundred (200) patients, and treat known diseases. Its crew is made up largely of medical personnel, with other roles being considered as support to the overall mission of mercy.
The Anaheim serves in Task Group 99 helping to shore up diplomatic efforts by demonstrating that Starfleet is not a primarily military institution. Used on second contact missions and often as long term support for areas suffering from disasters.
The ship has not seen active combat and generally provides a supporting role to other larger ships, and serves best by arriving after the battle is over to provide assistance and support the larger diplomatic mission of the task group.
Due to the relative youth of the crew, who tend to be younger doctors just starting their careers in Starfleet the Anaheim suffered self-inflicted damage during Fleet Day and is just now reemerging from a crew reshuffle and refit.
