“The time has come to set sail for unknown shores.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

There are no signposts on the frontier, and the crew of Charon is charged with planting as many as possible. Operating at the far reaches of known space, in the little-known Talvath Cluster, this Luna-Class explorer works to push back the fog of the unknown with every lightyear it traverses. The ever-watchful Romulan Free State, constantly at the edge of sensor range, keeps close tabs on Charon‘s progress with almost as much interest as Starfleet does as it journeys into the unaligned region. But even the shadow of politics cannot dampen the adventurous spirits of Charon, though they may yet find themselves embroiled within it.

From their position at the wave breaking against terra incognita, Charon carries with them the hopes of all the peoples of the Federation as they make the journey to the next shore.

The waving arms of the partygoers twisted back and forth like a rainbow of kelp, reaching upwards towards the perspex ceiling of the dance floor and the thin light that was barely visible through the liquid. The pale blue water beyond the worryingly thin-looking window ebbed back and forth with the [...]
