Welcome aboard the USS Kirk, a tough little ship with a mercurial namesake. Join in the adventures of Commander Lane Hanley and her tight - knit crew whilst they brave the dangers of the former DMZ and beyond, as the capable Shran - class Escort holds the thin - blue line between order and chaos.
Lieutenant Commander Lane Hanley knows all about legacy. Selected to captain the USS Kirk (the second Shran – class Escort to be completed) in 2400, this sometimes brash and combative young officer bears not only the weight of expectation attendant to her first command, but also struggles with the burden of legacy from being the daughter of the legendary Starfleet Rear-Admiral, Eustace “Bull” Hanley, who fell at the battle of Wolf 359.
Determined to prove her own worth beyond her late – father’s long shadow, Lane Hanley pushes hard and expects the same from her crew. But she will soon find that tenacity alone is not enough to persevere in a changing galaxy where Starfleet was once the brightest light in the darkness. Can Lane learn what is needed to evolve and survive before the line is broken?
“Risk is our business. That’s what this starship is all about. That’s why we’re aboard her.”
James T. Kirk

With the United Federation of Planets facing its darkest days in the aftermath of the devastating events of Frontier Day and the Blackout, Starfleet is forced to reconsider its isolationist policies of the late 2390’s and once again turn its gaze to beyond the borders of Federation – space and seek out new worlds and opportunities to forge alliances to further stability and peace.
Dispatched to the Gamma Quadrant to re-open tentative links with the species and polities abandoned by the withdrawal of the Dominion, the Lamarr – class Long – range explorer, USS Vega, transits through the Bajoran Wormhole to New Bajor, fully aware that the line between soft diplomacy and resumption of hostilities is always one command decision away.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the Wormhole, the Shran – class Escort, USS Kirk, continues its ongoing mission of border patrol & interdiction to provide security to the former DMZ as it strives to hold the thin – blue – line for a UFP that may have seen the setting of its golden – age.
