Yoon-Jung Ko

Early life

Born on the Federation Cargo Ship the Artemis, Ko experienced an adventurous life by seeing everything where the ship was going. She couldn’t remember much of the Dominion War or the aftermath of it. However, she did notice her parents sometimes worried about the state of the galaxy, the failed coup d’état in the Romulan Empire, to the large number of refugees coming from Romulus with Hobus going supernova. Her journey of seeing everything made it clear that Ko wanted more. She made up her mind and signed up for Starfleet.

Starfleet Academy

She was no ace student at the academy, but she had good self-defense and criminal law skills. Though her teachers advised her to have a career in JAG, she turned it down, stating that she wanted to see the galaxy, which was impossible behind a dusty desk. She continued to develop her skills for four years. During that time, she kept track of everything happening in the galaxy, from the hot mess in the Klingon Empire to newly found ruins of old civilizations. During her academy years, she became fond of climbing and was one of the few students to complete a set of challenges.

USS Washington

The Galaxy class was the home for Ko in 2396 till 2399. She served on the ship as their Security officer and Investigator. Washington was deployed at the Cardassian borders after there were rapports of raids on trading ships. Eventually, Washington came face to face with the True Way in the Former Demilitarized Zone and barely managed to keep them at bay. She built up some friends on the ship. Still, because of her good performance in Security and good behavior, her Captain, and Chief of Security recommended her to the USS Wakefield as their new Assistant Security Officer.

USS Wakefield

The Wakefield is the newest Edison class that came into service 2397. Ko joined the Wakefield at a critical time as the ship was involved in various events, such as the classified operation of the manifestation of the Omega molecule, the Century Storm, where it played a key role in evacuation operations. But at Operation Sundered Wings, Wakefield was heavily damaged, killing the First and Second Officer and various senior officers. The Captain did an emergency field promotion to put someone next to her. That person was Ko, a young Lieutenant Commander. The Captain of the Wakefield didn’t make a wrong choice as Ko did her best to be the temporary First Officer of the ship. She stayed with the Wakefield for another year until the events of the Lost Fleet, the changeling plot, and the devastating Borg plot occurred.

USS Tokyo

Ko got promoted to the full Commander and was assigned to the USS Tokyo that just got repaired, she was ordered to head out and give assistance at Deneb.
