Summary
Timmotha (pronounced: Timm-oh-ta) or Timmy as he is sometimes known as by his friends, is the 5th host to the Meathe (pronounced: Mee-th) symbiont. Timmotha did follow his species into the sciences but preferred to focus on linguistics and communications opposed to the natural sciences. As with all joinings, Timmotha gained the knowledge and memories of those who came before them, but with such a deviation from the previous hosts, Timmotha was able to enlighten Meathe on the varitey of languages in the galaxy and different ways to communicate. Due to his foundation in Linguistics, Timmotha often found himself assigned to frontier starbases or on diplomatic assignments before securing the role of Deputy Director of Communications stationed on Starbase Bravo.
Appearance
Timmotha has the typical dark hair of the Trill species which he keeps short and well groomed. He also sports a dusting of facial hair which likewise is kept well groomed and maintained. Timmotha has the distinctive spotting denoting him as a Trill
Personality
Timmotha, often times appears to others as quiet and somewhat withdrawn. A perception Timmotha does nothing to change. In reality, he uses this to listen for the meaning behind the words before forming a response. Amongst his colleagues and friends, Timmotha is outgoing and friendly and due to his long list of experiences to draw from he can often be seen imparting small words of advice to his social circle. This doesn’t at all affect his ability to focus on the task at hand and being able to keep his cool in stressful situations.
Timmotha enjoys meeting new people and making friends. There were untold connections in the universe and it sometimes helped having a network of contacts available. No matter the system, Timmotha was sure to know someone.
History
Early History
Timmotha was born in 2366 on the Trill homeworld. His parents, both well respected scientists in their fields, were hoping their son would follow in their footsteps. His parents hadn’t joined Starfleet preferring to remain on Trill and work with the local government. This gave them both the same chance to watch their boy grow up. From a young age, Timmotha was exposed to many different fields of science and was an active participant when helping his parents with their own research. But as he grew older, his interest in the natural sciences waned and he instead developed a love for languages.
His parents were nonetheless supportive and did what they could to cultivate this interest. In the greater scheme of things, this could have untold benefits as the Federation made contact with new species as they pushed the frontiers of their territory.
Trill Symbiosis Commission (2384 – 2387)
In 2384, Timmotha became an initiate with the Trill Symbiosis Commission, intent on being eligible to join with a symbiote. He had heard how gruelling the exams and training could be, but after 3 years of training, Timmotha was joined with the Meathe symbiote.
Being the fifth host to Meathe, he was monitored closely by the Symbiosis Commission to ensure he didn’t get overwhelmed or have any adverse effects due to the influx of memories and experiences. During his years as an Initiate, Timmotha was tested, examined and mentored to the point of exhaustion but unlike his parents, he wanted to see more than his home world. Trill would always be his home, but he couldn’t deny he was beginning to feel a bit of wanderlust. His mind made up, Timmotha submitted an application to Starfleet Academy intent on joining the organisation on the completion of his joining.
Starfleet History
Starfleet Academy (2387 – 2391)
Timmotha was admitted as a Cadet in Starfleet Academy during the 2387 intake. Alongside the core curriculum classes, Timmotha also undertook linguistics and communications. Everyone he knew had heard of Starfleet and a number of his friends had all joined up to serve on the numerous ships, bases and planets that fell under Federation jurisdiction. For Timmotha, he just wanted to go to space and feel like a part of something bigger than himself.
Timmotha’s second year in the Academy was similar to his first year but with a noticeable increase in difficulty and complexity, but that wasn’t not going to deter him from seeing this out. He really came into his own as he entered his third and fourth years focusing on Subspace Mechanics and Linguistics. It proved to be a huge courseload, but he graduated with marks anyone would be proud of.
USS Taranaki (2391 – 2393)
Timmotha was promoted to the rank of Ensign in 2391 and assigned to the USS Taranaki as a Communications Officer. Timmotha would serve on the Taranaki until 2393 when a transfer to the USS Ruapehu to serve as Chief Communications Officer and a subsequent promotion to Lieutenant Junior Grade.
USS Ruapehu (2393 – 2396
Although no longer in the Academy, Timmotha has continued to educate himself in his spare time and some of his improvements to the universal translator onboard the Ruapehu and minor enhancements to the subspace transceiver had caught the attention of Starfleet.
Deep Space 13 (2396 – 2399)
In 2396, Timmotha was dispatched to Deep Space 13, a federation outpost on the fringes of its territory to assist the stations chief with the maintenance and operational requirements of the facilities network of transceivers. This far out, they couldn’t afford any communications blackouts. After a three-year tour of duty on Deep Space 13 keeping the station’s communication systems operating reliably in the absence of regular supply runs and doing more administrative tasks than he was comfortable admitting to, Timmotha was recalled to the Sol sector to be reassigned.
Starfleet Diplomatic Corp (2399 – 2401)
In the early weeks of 2399, Timmotha was assigned to the Starfleet Diplomatic Corps to be present during negotiations and voice his opinions on any perceived subtext and to ensure all present were aware of any relevant contexts and to keep understandings to a minimum. His time with the Diplomatic Corp had exposed Timmotha to new cultures, languages and experiences as they engaged in colonial negotiations and second-contact missions. But after being pulled from pillar to post, Timmotha kept an eye out for new opportunities that would fulfill him as much as starship work did.
It wasn’t until 2401 that Timmotha had finally settled down as he requested a transfer to Starbase Bravo.
Starbase Bravo (2401 – Present
Being assigned to Starbase Bravo proved to be the right move. Thinking he would be assigned as a regular officer, it was a shock to find he was going to be doing far more than that. En-route to the station, he received an update from Starfleet confirming his new assignment: Deputy Director of Communications. This was perfect, he would be able to split his time between administrative duties, researching some side projects and overseeing an entire department. He felt like he had a new purpose in life and a mutually beneficial one at that.
