Personality
Kinnaris is a 26 year old medical graduate, intelligent, enthusiastic, and dedicated to her field. She graduated her doctorate at the head of her class and was eager to get into the field to practice. Somewhat introverted unless on a favorite topic, when she becomes bright and friendly despite clumsy social skills. Putting her studies first, she never managed to make many friends through her time either as a Trill docent or as a cadet at the Academy. With her unfortunate family history, she finds it difficult to allow herself to get attached to anyone and keeps herself just out of reach.
Her hobbies are typically past times that can be done by oneself, reading, partaking in holonovels, listening to music, swimming.
History
Early Life 2376 – 2393
She was born to parents Andara (mother) and Tiris (father) on the Trill homeworld the year after the Dominion War ended. Her parents had been separated during the war, with Andara living on Trill while Tiris served aboard a Federation starship. Not knowing whether he would return, his homecoming was a time of great relief and happiness. The couple were anthropologists who wanted to help people rebuild their lives and worlds after war, so took their newborn child, Kinnaris, with them to the former Dominion held worlds on the Cardassian/Federation border.
They moved from planet to planet helping the humanitarian aid efforts until an incident between the Cardassian Detapa Council and the military Central Command led to an orbital bombardment of the camp which they were staying in. Kinnaris survived but her parents were killed. She was ten years old. An older couple of camp helpers, a human couple named Sara and Robert Dawson, took Kinnaris in and took her with them to their family home on Earth.
When she reached 18, Kinnaris left Earth to travel to the Trill homeworld, a place she hadn’t been since her birth. Entering the Symbiont Training Program at the Trill Symbiosis Commission facility she studied well until she was chosen to be Joined as a Symbiont became available.
She was Joined with the symbiont Ara, and found the Joining a life changing experience, literally. Now she was melded with seven other lifetimes of experience and knowledge through the previous hosts of Ara. It took her some time to figure out her own identity with this combination of histories and her own personality in the mix. She discovered that being Joined helped her study better, taking in more information, advancing further than she had before becoming one with Ara.
While studying to be Joined, Kinnaris also studied medicine, and after recieving her Symbiont she applied for and was accepted to join Starfleet.
Leaving the Trill homeworld she traveled to Earth once more, and entered training at Starfleet Academy. Sadly, returning to visit her adopted family she found that Sara and Robert had passed away. She was angry that the Symbiosis Commission hadn’t informed her.
Wanting more than ever to pursue a career where she could help and heal people, Kinnaris continued her medical studies at Starfleet Academy and graduated both as a medical doctor and Ensign.
Newly minted as a Starfleet officer, she eagerly awaited her orders for her first assignment.
