Summary
Darion is a half Betazoid standing in a 5’11 tall, he has long black hair on the top of his head reaching down to his shoulder blades which he wears in a bun, with a tight undercut all round. He has the signature black Betazoid eyes and a beard that spans about a hand width in length. While not overly muscular he is well built, Darion does not eat particularly healthy diet preferring heartier meals and being very much a foodie at heart, he does however spend as much time in the holodeck burning off the consequences of his bad habits before they overwhelm him too much.
Appearance
Standing in a 5’11 tall, he has long black hair on the top of his head reaching down to his shoulder blades which he wears in a bun, with a tight undercut all round.
Though part of his rebellious phase Darion started getting tattoo’s as a chronicalisation of all the major emotional instances of his life, he has now a collection covering his legs, arms and has begun on his back and chest, these are all covered under Federation Uniform a little to his displeasure but he grudgingly admits to himself that its for the best for his career.
Personality
Generally, he is an easy individual to get along with, although not traditional outgoing as he prefers to limit his exposure of people to a handful at a time it is easier with people he is familiar and friendly with. It can make him seem distant and introverted at times due to this, especially in a formal setting. It can and has led people to misinterpret this as indifference or active dislike of them. When he first meets people he presents a guarded persona much for their benefit as for his he tends to be reserved and meditative in his actions, always thinking through and calculating his options before acting. He excels under pressure due to his calm nature but it can be off-putting to some people rather than a soothing measure.
History
Early Life (2380 – 2396)
He was born in 2376 and grew up in The Inner City of Medara on Betazed and is very proud of this fact. Darion’s father was a Human officer of the Diplomatic Corps, thus diplomacy and formal functions were a familiar environment for him. His mother on the other hand worked as a Federation Counsellor training cadets in the medical field. At the age of Darrien was promised in a Genetic Bonding to a family of the third house of Betazed, a huge honour and boon for his family of the twelfth house.
During his younger years, he spent most of his time training in the temples to control, limit and eventually hone his telepathic abilities While they were nothing exceptional to the betazoids norm, he’d accessed them at a far younger unshielded and unprepared age than the norm, the additional training he had to undertake made him fairly exceptional as a half human but merely above average for the full Betazoid
While away with his father on a diplomatic mission at the age of eight Darion experiences a majorly traumatic event in the form of his father and three other envoys being killed in a bomb attack. Darion had only just left the rooms as the blast went off, saving him physically from the ordeal. Mentally however he was unprepared and inexperienced for the wave of emotional anguish pouring forth from the wounded and survivors. Usually dormant until adolescence the event proved to be Darion’s Psionic awakening; one he wasn’t prepared for. After years of therapy and training fortunate to have a mother specialised in the field Darion pulled through the event and began to live a somewhat normally lifestyle albeit one where he had gained access to his gifts earlier than most. The events though changed his perception of people in general and unlike most Betazoids Darion preferred his own company over large group gatherings.
As part of his therapy Darion was introduced to music, while he isn’t particularly musically gifted, he does however enjoy spending time at the piano where he often spends hours keeping himself entertained playing music from all around the Federation, it’s not however a hobby he speaks about often preferring to play for himself over others. His other hobbies began to get more extreme, Rock climbing evolved into free-climbing, when rush wore off it became base jumping, that evolved into Skydiving and eventually lead to orbital diving. At this point his mother stepped in with an ultimatum, make a decision on his future or it will be made for him. He couldn’t keep using dangerous hobbies as a crutch for dealing with his emotions.
When the opportunity Darion signed up the Federation Academy he had no clear goal at that point on what or where he wanted to end up. But he knew that it would not be something mundane or ordinary, and he knew it would not be on Betazoid. Genetic Bonding or no.
Starfleet Academy (Late 2396 – Mid 2400)
Although the move join Starfleet wasn’t his idea, at least not initially Darion found that he at the academy in both his academic endeavours and with the physical challenges the training put on him. During this time he was able to build friendships with the other cadets at least in his own fashion. He showed a special aptitude for tactics and fleet operations during his training his logical and calm approach under the most dire of pressure made Vulcan’s envious, even though he had a personal affinity with Operations finding solace in the logical approaches that had to be followed he eventually enrolled in the Tactical officer track due encouragement from Professors.
He spent a lot of his free time in simulators both for piloting and running bridge operations. He formed a close relationship with an Vulcan cadet with an command specialisation, T’shur, who he bunked with through years 1 – 3. During Dorian’s second year their relations evolved past friendship, one that couldn’t last however as by the end of their training both would be stationed throughout the Federation, wherever they were needed most. Darion’s call came for him at the end of his Third year, orders to transfer and complete his training on Starbase Bravo. although upsetting for the pair of them they are emotionally mature enough to know that they must allow the separation to happen no matter their feeling for one an other.
Starbase Bravo SB-B (Late 2400 – Current)
After arriving at Starbase Bravo (see story – All Aboard (2400)) Darion has begun to settle in during the orientation period, as that begins to come to an end however, Darion’s duty awaits, he expects to end up in the Tactical Department ultimately but knows for the first part of his deployment he’ll be bouncing around departments simply as a Cadet
