Summary
Tierra is the Chief Engineer on the USS Odyssey. A native of Delta, she joined Starfleet and took an oath of celibacy shortly after her seventeenth birthday. A smart and caring individual, she is a talented engineer and can fix almost everything technical she puts her hands on. When she was twenty-seven, she married her wife, Abbej, Odyssey’s former Boslic astrophysicist and senior assistant chief science officer. The two separated at the end of 2400.
Appearance
Like all Deltans, Tierra is bald but has an almost symmetrical face. Her eyes are brown, and she has a slight hint of what others believe to be gold when the right light hits them. Tierra jokes that this is simply the glow of the warp core when she is near one. Tierra enjoys playing Bajoran spring ball and is an avid amateur boxer, so she keeps her figure in check. She sometimes puts a wig/hairpiece on if she feels it would help boost morale or break up a severe day. Her favourite is a purple mohawk.
- Height: 5′ 7″ (1.7 m)
- Weight: 150 lbs
- Hair: None
- Eyes: Brown
Personality
Tierra was a cool and calm person, someone that others could depend on and someone who would go out of her way to help others. Nevertheless, now she was part of the senior staff, she knew that she had to maintain a strong aurora of leadership. Confidence but not arrogance, stable but not a pushover, and certainly there for others. She isn’t someone who would shut someone down if they had an idea to contribute to a problem. Her ability to guide others to find a solution was something she had developed under Hunsen and is one of the cornerstones of how she leads. Alongside all of this, she has a wicked sense of humour and dry wit. She is known to tease those she is close to.

Biography
Early Life
Born and raised in the southern hemisphere of Delta, Tierra enjoyed her childhood immensely because she came from a large family. Both her parents worked, running their own hydroponics farm. It became a family business that Tierra, the middle child of four, enjoyed working on. During her studies, there were many occasions when she would either fiddle with the farm’s equipment or repair a broken tool. Wanting to take this interest and natural talent in mechanics, Tierra completed her studies and, after some time, went to Starfleet Academy.
Starfleet Career
Early Career – Starfleet Academy
Joining the academy on its specialist annexe built on the third moon of Delta IV, Tierra enjoyed her first three years there. However, in her fourth year, things changed as the specialist program on the Delta annexe required that its students, all of whom were Deltan, would attend their last year at another base. This was to help them adapt to other cultures and enforce their oath of celibacy. Tierra was sent to the Beta Ursae Minor annexe, and while there, she was slightly overwhelmed by the range of species that were studying there. Nevertheless, she excelled in adjusting to her new environment and graduated, specialising in engineering. Fortunately for Tierra, her class was among the first to graduate after the war with the Dominion ended.
USS Bondar (NCC-71428)
Joining the Akira-class starship USS Bondar in 2376, Tierra’s first three years as an engineer involved her heavily in various missions within the Federation. Most of these supported Federation worlds and Starfleet bases with various technical difficulties. She excelled exceptionally well in this position, and by the start of 2380, she was promoted to Lieutenant junior grade and given command of the delta shift in the engineering room.
Also, in 2380, she became close to one of the ship’s science officers, Lieutenant junior grade Abbej—a Boslic woman with the darkest purple hair that Tierra found extremely attractive. The two hit it off, and nine months later, they were engaged. As Abbej had no family of her own, they married on Delta in front of Tierra’s family and many of the crew from the Bondar. While on Delta, both women discovered that Tierra’s father was terminally ill. Wanting to remain with her father and help her mother out, Tierra resigned from her commission. Abbej, not wanting her wife to go at this alone, followed in her footsteps, and the two settled down on Delta to run the family farm.
Civilian Life
The two women enjoyed the delights of a simple life on Delta for the next decade. By 2382, Tierra’s father passed away, and the farm’s running fell onto Tierra’s shoulders with the support of Abbej. Seven years later, sadly, Tierra’s mother passed away in her sleep one night. It was unexpected; by this time, Tierra and Abbej had also become parents. Tierra was grateful that her father had the chance to meet his grandchildren and spend some time before he died. Tierra’s oldest brother approached her and offered to take over the farm, knowing Tierra and Abbej deserved and wanted to return to Starfleet. Not wanting to admit it at first, the sudden realisation that he was right eventually caught them both off guard. After both took some update assessments and a crash course to learn the latest information about starship operations, they requested postings on the same ship where their children could join them.
Second Starfleet Career
USS Odyssey (NCC-80000)
Both women joined the crew of the USS Odyssey in 2389, Tierra as its new senior assistant chief engineer and Abbej as its new exobiologist. The two would serve the ship for eleven years in these positions. In 2400, after the Blood Dilithium crisis was dealt with, Tierra and Abbej filed for divorce after Abbej wanted them to leave the Odyssey and start fresh elsewhere. During the crisis, Tierra was overtaken by the effects of the crystals and by a baby telepathic pitcher plant. The bioplasmic created had used a neurogenic field to manipulate the ship’s telepathic population, and while under its effects, Tierra lost control and had to be subdued. Abbej felt that remaining on the ship provided too many bad memories of the experience, she wanted to leave but Tierra wanted to stay and rebuild what she had lost. After trying for a month and a half and countless rows, the two agreed to separate. By this time, their children Jameel (their son) and Lillia (their daughter) had grown up and considered joining Starfleet. Both remained with Tierra on the Odyssey so they could apply to the cadet training unit.
After almost a year and a change in their positions, Tierra and Abbej had rebuilt their broken marriage. Furthermore, Tierra was now the Chief Engineer on the Odyssey. Though they were separated on two ships, the change in their circumstances and what happened during Frontier Day made them realise they wanted to be together. Though they know they can’t be together on the same ship, being in the Odyssey Squadron does mean they have a higher chance of being together.
