Summary
Ensign Tomathy Ardith is junior Operations Officer serving aboard the USS Hipparchus. As his first starship posting, he’s gaining expertise in transporter operations, cargo organisation and probe fabrication. His greatest gift and his fatal flaw is his ability to make the present moment feel more important than every possible future.
Appearance
/ As a Haliian, Tomathy has the telepathic ability of empathy, sensing the emotions of others. He can achieve greater mental contact with individuals to whom he’s bonded.
Personality
/ Tomathy makes people feel seen through intense, reckless curiosity in them. He’s not a flatterer or looking to create a reaction in anyone, he’s simply a moth to every flame.
/ He’s never met a moment that he couldn’t whip up into an adventure. He’s radically generous: giving himself over to people, places, causes and experience with utter abandon. When he’s doing so, he rarely remembers that other people will have to live with the consequences, because there’s always another adventure over the hill.
/He expects life to be vivid, relationships to be transformative, and for work to have subspace-shattering levels of meaning. He believes everyone around him are capable of more than they think they are, and sometimes he’s wrong. He has no patience for half-measures. The weight of every possibility feels like an obligation to him.
/ He’s not an action-junkie; what he requires is aliveness. Presence. Awareness. Growth, and it doesn’t matter in what direction.
History
/ After truncated careers as an event planner, potter and sculptor, Ardith applied to Starfleet Academy in response to the increasing disasters at the close of the 24th century. He joined Starfleet not out of a sense of duty, but of a desire to make himself strong enough to survive the 25th century.
