Summary
Lieutenant Cloyce-Kploni serves the USS Hipparchus in the surveyor’s most prestigious role of: Head of Stellar Sciences.
Personality
/ He’s slow to act and decide. Kploni lives his life with great interiority; his reactions to stimuli often seem delayed, as if he’s considering three different actions at all times. He behaves as if his physical form is simply a husk he’s dragging behind, what he considers to be, his massive intellect.
/ Kploni spends a lot of time alone, probably by his own choice. That’s certainly what he tells himself. He’s never experienced boredom and has incredible patience. Living alone for most of his life has turned him selfish in matters of daily routines and living conditions.
/ His peers in science departments perceive him to be nervous or insecure; officers in a further orbit from other departments have described him as more effortlessly aloof, almost charming in his guilelessness.
/ Having grown up on a Federation colony with herd-based structures, one of Kploni’s greatest values in consensus. He would chose people pleasing over conflict any day of the week. He doesn’t understand the desire for privacy, nor personal achievement. At the same time, he can’t bear the thought of being a disappointment to the communities where he lives.
History
Head in the Sand
The majority of Kploni’s Starfleet career has been spent on Islin Outpost, conducting independent research. The remoteness of the outpost meant Kploni was nowhere near the Century Storm or the incursion of the Dominion lost fleet; the Vaadwauar’s blackout cells and invasion attempts paid no mind to a lifeless rock in space. No one aboard the outpost was young enough to have been assimilated on Frontier Day 2401. No one aboard the outpost was displaced to a parallel reality in 2403. The outpost never researched Borg technology, and so never drew the attention of Borg probes or the Orion Syndicate.
As a result, he’s grown to appreciate coziness and the freedom to follow his research whims wherever his heart takes him. Rank, awards, and status mean little to him. Even the novelty of exploration has never been his preference.
All in all, his assignment to the Fourth Fleet has been largely sheltered and uneventful, until USS Hipparchus.
