Wei Chen

Wei Chen is a young engineering officer whose quiet determination and technical aptitude have earned him the respect of his peers. Born on Earth and raised in Asia, he approaches engineering with patience, precision and a belief that even the most complex problems can be solved through careful analysis and persistence.

Wei Chen is not the loudest engineer in the room, nor the most obviously ambitious, but he possesses an intense focus that borders on tunnel vision. Once a problem captures his attention, the rest of the world tends to fade into the background as he pursues a solution with relentless persistence. Fellow engineers have learned that asking Wei a simple technical question can sometimes result in a  forty-minute explanation delivered with genuine enthusiasm.

Unlike many Starfleet officers his age, Wei is remarkably comfortable with uncertainty and failure. He views mistakes as part of the learning process rather than something to be feared. This gives him an experimental streak that occasionally worries his superiors, though it is balances by an earnest humility and willingness to admit when he is wrong. His curiosity is infectious and while he may sometimes disappear down technical rabbit holes, his genuine excitement for discovery often inspires those around him to look at problems in a new way.

Hobbies and Interests

Wei’s curiosity extends far beyond his duties in Engineering. He enjoys building and modifying small scales mechanical projects in his spare time.

Outside of Engineering he enjoys photography and sketching, particularly during away missions where he can captures unusual landscapes, architecture and natural phenomena. Friends describe him as someone who is happiest when learning something new.
